  1. I don't think antisemitism is strong enough in the committed Dem base to hurt Shapiro (or among swing or low-intel voters - most of them don't give a shít about Israel/Palestine). It's only a product of the very online left, who generally aren't voting anyway. Part of a Harris victory will likely have to net some of the Obama youth vote. I don't think that vote today is made up of antisemitic campus reactionaries. YMMV, I just don't see it.
  2. In fairness, Vance is not exactly taking the world by storm. There is a reason there are reports Trumpworld already considers him a mistake. The faithful is not enough to put him over to a larger voting bloc. I think Kamala has a good shot and the momentum is here if we can sustain it, but I do think it should be Beshear. Not because Shapiro is a Jew, though I do think he would help keep PA.
  3. I think (allegedly) not going for Beshear as VP is a potential mistake, but maybe they're really determined to lock up PA.
  4. I gotta say I've found most of the last 8 years pretty damn boring.
  5. I was about to say, this is a little too far for me lol.
  6. Whether she was into it or not, I don't believe JFP had the authority to kill Alan over Guza's head. Only Frons could IMO, and he canned many soap vets in his era at ABC. I think if she'd still had that kind of power in that era we'd seen a lot of wild shít, and not just during the strike. Jill became a facilitator, but she could no longer frontburner the characters or actors she loved (like Hearst). She couldn't get Kale Browne out of the voice-over booth either. It was clear to me Guza had little use for Becky or Liz for years. He and Jill were simpatico on some things. I also just don't think he'd made Laura a priority for years vs. Luke starting in the late '90s (for what may have been many BTS reasons), and that continued for the remainder of his tenure with the show.
  7. Sorry, his what? IIRC Guza was back from the end of the strike in '08 til summer 2011. Only the strike interrupted his tenure from '02 to 2011 AFAIK (and during the strike JFP with Guza gone went out of her way to frontburner Rick Hearst, lol). I was under the impression Tracy and Anthony Z. was Garin Wolf.
  8. We've disagreed about this before and it's down to personal opinion and YMMV. For me, Varni and Disney have not been straining to put over Easton, Howarth and a bunch of OLTL players for years. That's Frank. I doubt they even really care about all the other random soap gets sitting around doing nothing, like Eva LaRue. I can buy there is a modicum of meddling from the network, but nowhere near what it was in the Frons era. I think Frank got high on his own supply in the Ron years and after Ron got cut decided he too was Jill Farren Phelps.
  9. Guza came back last time with a producer credit for a reason - he had tired of the creative wars with Riche and wanted autonomy. He got it while JFP was relatively shoved into a broom closet after her failed solo tenure. We should of course note that this is just a wild-ass guess a couple of us had. It is admittedly a bit farfetched and I can't see Guza playing any nicer with Frank than Patrick Mulcahey, if not less so.
  10. Stunting to the fuckin' end! I can appreciate that Bernie was one of Joe's stalwart supporters to the end (as opposed to the clear and distasteful contempt he showed for Hillary and Obama), but this is almost tiresome as Obama's dramatic pause on endorsing. It's giving that last debate rambling about the economy that Bernie dragged Joe into at the literal dawn of COVID, when everyone just wanted to get home from Walgreens with a N95 and some toilet paper still alive.
  11. Rarely do Soapsuds and I agree on anything but that is a potential bingo for me.
  12. I can't see Errol being excited about that one.
  13. Charli XCX is a pop artist with a popular new album out this summer called Brat. She notably endorsed Kamala yesterday with a tweet saying "kamala IS brat". The Kamala fancam videos on TikTok, etc. scored to music from the album then ensued.
  14. As always, use archive.is and run the politico URL through it to get behind the paywall.
  15. Not critical per se, but hilarious nonetheless - CNN struggles to comprehend the Kamala/Charli XCX brat fancams:
  16. So Charades isn't an option? I kid, thank you.
  17. I rarely go for cherrypicked clips without more context, but this truly is giving Jeb energy:
  18. Montel Williams is displeased with the MAGAs (the thumbnail here cuts off his response, click through):
  19. A long but important thread.
