With his lazy writing and the budget there's only two options: New character who stalks around mysteriously and then eventually narrates all of the things that happened between him and Noah. Old character with a rich history that can be referred to. What we would never get is the actual villain's story playing out in real time, plotting and scheming, actually DOING things, creating a storyline that comes to a climax. It's the same reason they go back to the well on old couples like Cricket/Danny and Victoria/Cole. They don't need to show them falling in love, the audience can just look up their story on wikipedia, so all they have to do is sit in the coffee house and talk about their great love which happened onscreen in the distant past.

Y&R: Jill Foster being adopted and being Kay's long lost daughter, then reversing it and making it turn out that Liz Foster had an affair with Neil Fenmore, which didn't result in Jill's conception (since they'd established she was adopted), but did result in him randomly giving Liz a child he had with some other random woman, making Jill and Lauren sisters after they'd been interacting in GC for 30 years, and then never really doing anything with that either. I guess the only thing they have in common is sons who were randomly rewritten to be gay, lol. B&B: Maya starting out as a homeless woman looking for her child, with every reason for the audience to believe she meant a child she birthed, and then making her biologically a man.

I'm a week behind and still on the AI crap, but... are you telling me Nick had been investigating Noah's accident, very suspicious of Sienna, and then running into a back from the dead Matt Clark, his fiercest enemy, he has not made a connection between Matt and Noah?

Tracy should just start a new family household with ... Dillon, Gio, Lulu and her kids, hell bring in Willow with Michael's kids. Jason and Britt! Good for her and I hope she doesn't back down. Monday was great. I was actually in suspense once the dog grabbed the papers. This should be Jane's reel... she got to show off every facet of Tracy. I loved the nod between her and Michael, kind of felt like that should have been Jason though. I was rooting for Gio to run home and embrace the family... I'm sure it's coming soon. I like where they settled on Ronnie... so she actually is the sister, and was being lowkey threatened but it was ultimately her choice to do it, so she's a grey character. Looking forward to more of Emma and Britt. Braedyn steps into the relationships so naturally, as if she's the one who played the original. They should just show old clips with the child actress, it would be more fun than having them reference stuff like the doll.

The way JG writes is basically: JG sees some old movie and decides he wants to do a story where Nikki is kidnapped. He asks the Y&R historian what villains would have a grudge against Nikki and is told Eve Howard. He's down for it until he's told Eve is dead... no problem, he'll give her a sister, how about Colleen Zenk? And then when he hears Victoria was married to Eve's son and they had a DEAD BABY, he's like, jackpot... A decision is made to hire Trevor St. John. He wants to make him some kind of sarcastic business tycoon with strong ties to the canvas, so they choose to make him Tucker McCall, despite the totally wrong age and vibe. A decision is made to hire Billy Flynn. He decides he'll be a Gatsby type character with a great love and he's become a crypto bro to win her back and also something with AI would be good because business. So he asks around what male characters are there who used to be on the show whose love interest is still on canvas, and they decide it will be Cane trying to win Lily back, and then try to figure out a static set where everyone can convene (contract cast only with the recurring characters taking a late train in). A decision is made to hire Roger Howarth and JG decides he will be part of a noir storyline (whatever that means). He has to be a villain and it has to be big. It would be great if it somehow involved rape. So someone reads wikipedia and explains to him there was this guy Matt Clark who raped Sharon, actually tried to rape her a bunch of times, and then died... ok, perfect! We'll bring Noah back and have this big splashy car accident but to make it more mysterious, we won't show it, and then we'll have him all bandaged, and Sharon can read him books and stuff (more literary references to show how smart he is), and we can have Claire randomly in LA to meet up with Nick and Sharon, and Holden will randomly know these people... we'll add another soap actress to show how big this is...
