I assume the target audience is as distracted as I am by the plot hole that University Hospital does not own a means of production for Versavix, and that's where the profits are found. Researchers at publicly funded universities can profit from successful drug discoveries, but it is often a small percentage compared to the profits of the pharmaceutical company. Thus, it makes no sense why both Xander and EJ would try to buy the hospital (and its right to the invention). As opposed to buying a pharmaceutical company, which would make exponentially more profit from Versavix, as well as the many patents that they now own on Dr. Rolf's research! And, that if Xander benefitted from his wife's knowledge about a drug being researched at her hospital, and one day later he made a bid for said hospital, that's called fraud as it is akin to insider trading. For example, if my husband was a real estate agent, and he told me to buy this undervalued property because he knew there was a $1,000,000 diamond buried under the toilet. That would be fraud, because his duty would be to get the best price for his client. But, if he would directly profit, because as my husband he would get half of the profits from the diamond, that's fraud. And that's what Sarah did. She waited until the hospital was worth nothing to tell her husband to buy now for cheap, because it will be worth a fortune in future due to the drug (information she thought nobody knew but Kayla). Thus, she profits from the University's misfortune. And once again, Sarah is the true evil mastermind of Salem. 😉🤑

Random Hump Day Reactions Despite my better judgment about commenting on appearances—what is going on with Philip’s skin? He looks distractingly sunburned. Did the makeup team forget to use foundation? Or powder? Or that they’re broadcasting in high definition? Meanwhile, Kristen looked like the saddest Alice in Wonderland. The dirndl was cute, but everyone in that mansion could desperately use a pop of primary color—and a reason to smile. It’s one thing for Belle to be blinded by love for EJ. It’s another for her to hear him admit to kidnapping Rachel and treat it like a punchline. Overall, there's zero urgency from anyone about getting Rachel or Kat back to Salem. Most of the time, Kristen and Cat seem to forget their long-lost mothers are still being held elsewhere against their will. At least when Doc, Kayla, and Kate went missing, people cared. Paulina even talked to that urn! (Still waiting to find out who was in the urn, by the way…) Raise your hand if you believe Rachel innocently brought up Tate’s baby. If your hand is up, do not click on any suspicious email links today. You’re vulnerable. And finally, deep breaths: Jamey—or someone he edits—named the miracle drug Versavix. Fun fact: real drug names are developed by branding teams after the research is done. Versavix sounds like the draft name someone scribbled during a Red Bull crash and forgot to replace. This isn’t even a good fake drug name. It’s like they forgot that the same show once gave us a literal ‘love potion’ that made Sami fall for Austin. Versavix makes me nostalgic for the days of ‘L-dopa’ and Stefano’s mind control chips, at least they didn’t sound like a discontinued allergy medication. (crud, another day, another broken promise to stop complaining about this).

It is completely illogical, unless Salem University, the City of Salem, the state Salem-land, and the federal government of Sa-landia have also gone bankrupt. But, I am trying to put that aside, because for storytelling purposes, it makes sense to have a prize that the audience can see.

I still suspect they won't show a kid holding and shooting a gun. I think she stabbed him, and then someone else shot him to cover it up.

That 10% lycra makes them very stretchy. Plus, he's getting addicted to pain meds. OMG Imagine if EJ gets addicted to opioids manufactured by Titan, and uses Belle to form a class action suit (i.e. The Sacklers) and that's how they get back Dimera Industries ?!?

She's at least ten years older than lil'Rachel, yet it feels unnatural for both of them to be so involved in other people's loves lives.

It seems easy to be sympathetic that if a random man raised his voice to me at the mall today, I would not be appeased if he later went and apologized to my sister. I like giving the character more to do, because there is a value in representing a person with a congenital disorder being employed, given that the unemployment rate in that community tops 83%. I just hope they find a voice for the character that matches her functioning ability. As for Cat, I wonder if she is going to inherit any of Clyde's money? And that was the reason for the phone call. I know he's not dead, but he could have named her family as the beneficiary of some insurance policy if he were to be incapacitated. And the call could have been an attorney trying to reach her to give her money.

OK, I like the Cat interactions with Xander and EJ. And, I get that there are new writers. But, Clyde was shot 12/11/2024. So, why have we not heard Xander or EJ's response to the situation for five months! Clyde shot EJ (or he ordered him shot), shouldn't he react more to the news of his coma. And, I've never heard EJ or Kristin mention that the woman who lived with them last summer was a fraud. Rather than giving lip service to the idea of family and community, at least it feels like everyone no longer lives in a bubble. Also, while it makes sense to use the hospital as the prize in the war between EJ and Xander. We all have to admit that under the prior writer, at least Xander, and I think EJ, were dissuaded from buying the hospital went it started to go under in March. I get the magic sepsis cure makes the hospital more valuable. But, it seems like the people who are going to get rich are going to be the pharmaceutical companies, not the hospital. I mean, do you think UCSD became rich from the Salk/polio vaccine? (No, they didn't). Unless, Kayla and Sarah are going to start manufacturing prescription drugs out of the coffee machine in the lobby. -- crud, I broke my promise to stop complaining about illogical this story can be. Did anyone else notice less outrage from fans that University Hospital may close, versus the impassioned cries when the Horton living room was burnt down for two day? I wonder if it reflects our overall dislike of the health care industry?

Was their living room set new? Poor Kate, is she going to live out her twilight years above a chowder factory? Another prime example about soap-karmic justice. And, how long has it been since we've seen the corridor with the other rooms/apartments above the pub? Now that I'm thinking about it... Wouldn't it have made more sense for Kate and Roman to go anywhere else to discuss the gun? Doug3 works (and lives) beside them.

ALL: Drag/Crossdressing Disguises in Soap Operas?
I just had an epiphany. The most drag moment in soap history is the introduction of Lucy Coe on GH. Miss Coe was the Medical School Librarian. She was a mousy blond who was called to the stand by the defense of Kevin O'Connor. She wore her hair in a bun, a blouse buttoned up to the neck, and a modest skirt with flats. She testified that Kevin was studying at the time of the murder, for which he was on trial, thus clearing him of the charges against him. When we next saw Ms Coe, she arrived home, let down her hair, stripped down to lingerie, threw on a pair of heels, and sprayed some perfume. Soon, there was a knock on the door, and it was Kevin. Now, that's drag!

I think it's funny that Philip is walking around in today's episode thinking it is wrong that people are still mad at him for stealing half of Xander's inheritance. While Alex struggles to finish reading a manuscript in under 118 hours, Philip was like, “hey, help me out with Xander, let's be cool, and forget that I basically blackmailed you and your girlfriend to lie that I was cucking you.” This is truly a Monday miracle, because I enjoyed the Kristin and Brady scene. It is completely un-Kristin-like to have any insight into her behavior, but I appreciated the attempt. We're so far from Kristin-social-worker that we met back in the 90s, but it was a clever callback to show that she's still in there somewhere. Kristin has become such a loon, it felt like she was being humanized. Finally, I found solace in the fact that I've gone my entire life without having a job where my boss needs to tell me where they keep the gun, -- on the first day of training. (I guess Salem does have an unusually high murder rate for such a small population?)

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Albee clashed with co-star Lee Godart, who portrayed villain Eliot Dorn . At the time, the Edge of Night cast participated in a charity baseball league with other New York-based soaps. Albee, an American, was very competitive about the games, whereas Godart – a French actor unfamiliar with baseball – was not as skilled. Tensions reportedly flared when Albee berated Godart’s athletic performance and even mocked his nationality during these games . Godart took offense and complained to the executive producer, who warned Albee to stop harassing his castmate . Albee either ignored this warning or didn’t take it seriously, and continued to needle Godart. As a result, when Albee’s next contract option came due, Nicholson chose not to renew it – effectively terminating Albee’s role on the show

@brisbydog - I like that you have a signature font, très chic Abe and Paulina's new apartment was the first thing I noticed. I don't understand why people over a certain age in Salem automatically move into a condo? When it seems just as simple to make the set seem like a detached home. But, I will give points to attention to detail of choosing colors that compliment the Black actors in the scene. Which then led to the second thing I noticed. Why would EJ want Kayla's office, when his is 3xs the size? Also, even if he buys the hospital, won't Kayla get to keep her office? Lastly, can we at least give Cat the agency to decide on her own with whom she wishes to date? Do men actually need to negotiate on her behalf? She's stunning. My advice would be if Chad is friend-zoning her after a year together, move on to his richer brother.

As well as insulting our host, being rude to some of the nicest members who correct you, and having an inflated sense of duty. While others may be able to add numerous offenses, the egocentrism to force any conversation off-topic to focus on you is the most egregious act for me. This is light entertainment, an interactive discussion, not the shallotpeel-hour.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I imagine the conversation was that you couldn't title it Real Housewives of Providence, because there are 26 cities named Providence in the US. Also, Peacock reruns the series Providence, and they wouldn't want to mess up the search results.

Hours later, I'm still wondering, what was EJ's plan in going to the hospital today? Does he think it's like a car dealership, and you can simply walk in and make an offer? That's why I laughed when Steve said that Dr. not-Rolf comes and goes. One gets the sense the people in Salem randomly leave their offices, midday, to talk to relatives and co-conspirators. I understand, they don't use the phone on soaps. But, the amount of walking these citizens do in a day is remarkable.

There's some irony in Philip being forgiven, because it forces everyone to admit that Victor was wrong to change his will. All the Kiriakises (Kiriakisii?), eventually including Xander, (I presume), seems to think it was wrong for Victor to divide his estate in Xander's favor. I appreciated Stephanie forgiving Philip, because she's got no skin in that game, and she got zero blow back. But, Belle's line about Philip missing Xander because he misses Bo did not ring true. I think Philip would be sad if Bo dies, but I think he's more concerned currently about Xander. It never felt like Bo and Philip were very closely connected. In fact, I imagine Philip thinks of Bo as Shawn's dad, more than as his brother. I am enjoying this EJ mystery so much that I am hereby taking a vow not to read spoilers. I am also vowing — for the last time — to stop harping on this, but: the concept of a “sepsis treatment” remains absurd. Hospitals prevent sepsis through vigilant infection control; once sepsis sets in, it causes multiple organ failures. Treatment involves supporting each failing organ individually. The notion that a single medication could magically reverse organ failure is medically laughable. However, I like the contrast of Kim going through cancer, which is incurable in their universe. Kayla's comment on the health of both of her siblings was both heartbreaking and an interesting twist. MBE is also totally underrated. She is carrying the weight of so many stories. And, I like the use of Kayla as an audience surrogate. She's arguably the most "real" person in Salem. Kayla isn't psychic, she wasn't SORASed, she's not a billionaire, and she doesn't have a bionic eye. So, I enjoy that we get her perspective of the nuttiness that surrounds her. However, I don't get what gives her the authority to turn down EJ's offer. I understand that they need a hospital figurehead to show us scenes of the competition to buy the hospital. But, unless the entire administration has been let go, the Chief of Staff wouldn't make those choices.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Marissa just opened Olivetta on Melrose in Los Angeles, it is doing very well https://www.olivetta.la/team-member/marissa-hermer/ The thing I can't get my head around is opened the place with Matt, but they announced their divorce last year. Side note: The Hermer's must think that they are big news, because like many celebs they filed in San Bernardino rather than LA Superior Court to avoid publicity. Obviously, a divorced couple can still work together. But, I wonder if they mended fences? I can't find reference to a reconciliation. Agreed, with the stipulation that it is like a needle in a haystack to find five wealthy women in Manhattan who all know each other, want to be on TV together, and make good characters for reality TV. Thus, I think there's something to be said for keeping the new RHONY crew, who have now known each other for at least four years. They've been together thru the Brinn drama and that chick who quit during the first season. So, they legitimately know each other and are a part of each other's lives at this point.
