Y&R and B&B had great subtle humor which works for the type of shows they are, but to me Passions is always gonna be more of a soap opera “Dramedy” more then any other show, besides Days which is up their with the “Dramedy” aspect imo.

It was Summer 2000 I started watching Passions, with the Prom Boat Disaster. I always use to think Passions was the definite summertime Soap, along with Days. Sadly it's kind of a thing in the past now for the soaps to draw in younger viewers during the Summer.

Haha no that was the 1991 4th of July  I kind of wish they’d showed that one only cause it was better then the 1992 one imo.

Lol..at least B&B has plenty of their classics on their offficial site and video land etc….but Bradley is still proving to be as clueless as ever when it comes to what he considers classic

Maybe we will find out Thomas hired a Hope Imposter???  I mean Thudley already did the Mannequin, why not go for a “Hope Mask” now. 

The vibe I’m getting is that Eva and Braeden really didn’t get to interact a lot on set? Or barely get to say hello to each other or maybe never even met.  I don’t feel like either would have said that about the other if they had actually gotten to get to know one another during their time on the show…I remember Eva being really upset when Jeanne passed,  though we did see them interact onscreen.

It’s a shame we don’t have that much of his, well as far as anything from the early 80s but it definitely was a mistake that he didn’t get to stay on throughout the course of the 90s, and that Bill Bell or Kay Alden wouldn’t have had to do the odd amnesia story, as good as it might have been told. He was definitely believable in the detective role and had great father/son Chemistry with Doug Davidson.

If they know in advance the rest of the  line-up is going to be preempted, such as for the U.S. Open back in the day, they might have one new episode of one series that aired in select time zones and was preempted in other time zones due to the Open coverage.  Or maybe that episode would air in all of the time zones, but would play to a limited audience due to the rest of the line-up being preempted.  That would be an example of one they would ask Nielsen NOT to count.

so is it possible that maybe some affiliates did get new episodes of Y&R that day and others didn’t? Would they just show the same episode on Tuesday if that was the case so the other affiliates could catch up?

As far as I know, all breakout means is the network tells Nielsen it does not want that episode counted as part of the weekly/yearly averages, since those breakout episodes (airing on much smaller amount of affiliates) would bring down the overall weekly/yearly averages.  It does not mean it is a repeat. What I had said earlier about the YR 9/4/78 is that I could not confirm whether it was a new episode or a repeat just on the basis of it being a breakout.

Thanks, it’s too bad they are vague with that but I’m excited to see the other weeks leading towards the end of the year, that will help too.
