RIP to the one and ONLY Billy Abbott for me
Here my tribute video I've done these last 10 days
Wonderful tribute! Still can't believe he's gone...
Was the fist bump with Victor from a BTS clip or from an actual episode? haha I don't remember that one.

Yes, that's correct. You pretty much will still know why a show was preempted as well, but some of the time it will just say a generic special report. I was more speaking about myself personally...doing the charts for 1988-1992 will take a little more effort as opposed to how I was used to doing them from 1978-1987 (the way I preferred). But, yes, pretty much all of the info is still there (it just takes inference now, since they don't give the exact start time of the special report on that page, then you see that OLTL stopped airing from 2:22-2:27, so then it's obvious that's when the special report aired).
I won't be getting to 1991 for awhile, but for the War preemptions, here's a sample of three weeks from February 1991. I don't know what the "average minute audience rating" numbers are, but I am just posting these for the preemptions data:
Week of 2/4/91-2/10/91:Week of 2/11/91-2/17/91:Week of 2/18/91-2/24/91:Thanks so much for adding this!!

That's funny you asked about this now. As I said earlier in the thread, once the Nielsen books changed in September 1987, they no longer easily list all the preemption data on a 5-page range. Now, it's listed by every half-hour time period for the week. To give you a quick example of a regular two-month period (say November/December 1989), that would usually involve special report preemptions listed on maybe 10-15 pages total throughout the 2 month period (an average of 2-3 pages per issue). I just checked March 1991, the month after the war ended, and the entire month of March 1991 had only two pages with special report preemptions,
However, for the January/February 1991 issues, due to the war, there were 95 pages over that 2-month period involved which listed special reports about the war. Now, of course that's for the entire time periods of the weeks (not just daytime), but just thought it was a good way to show you exactly how many special reports there were during those two months.
And they no longer list the duration, start time or end time of the special reports, so you sort of just have to piece it together from what times the programs are listed as not airing. ABC, howveer, is nice enough to at least list the start time of its special reports in its program title of the special report, so we do know the exact start times of all the ABC special reports.
That's interesting. If they still give us the general duration the special reports took place and if it was during most of the show's scheduled time, It sounds like it will be easy to figure out when preemptions occurred for those years.

All of the remaining missing weeks still needed from 1987-1990 have been found except for two weeks in late 1987. So, as we start to finish up this project, the final stats are this:From January 1979-May 1992, there will only be 3 weeks missing full data (1 from 1981 and 2 from 1987). At the moment, it looks like two weeks from 1991 are still missing, but those weeks are covered by the Soap Opera Weekly charts, so only two weeks from 1991 will be missing the additional data not covered in Soap Opera Weekly (affiliates, clearance, demos, preemptions).
That's so amazing!! It's so exciting that we are gonna be getting 90's data too! You are the best!
I was wondering though, It's probably too early but do you have any info from January-February 1991? I'd love to see any of those weeks to see which days the soaps were affected or preempted for gulf war coverage?0 -

New Twinks on the Block.
Will they be going on tour with The Day Players?
What’s sort of funny about that is that the actor coming in, was on a failed Netflix sitcom with Joey Mcintyres son.

January 31, 1986 Y&R Nikki tells Victoria the wicked witch bedtime story. MTS 40th anniversary she commented on that scene saying it was worse than she remembered it being and told all mothers out there not to do this.
The show was actually preempted on 1/31/86 for the challenger memorial so that scene aired on 2/4/86

Something I cool I just discovered, This channel has two clips of Jill/Liz/Katherine and Nina/Victoria from 7/30/93, In English! I uploaded this full episode to the vault but only in French, so it's great to hear some of the scenes in English, considering Liz's 1993 return is pretty rare!

So brave of his mother to but that out there!
I was also hoping this wasn’t the case, and I wish there was more that could have been done to help him!

I kind of thought around that time EB had developed real life issues with SC which may or may not have been resolved IRL….I always have to wonder if that influences the fact that the Victor/Sharon relationship can never go back to what it was..

This is unbelievable!!
As many have said, love or hate him, I think he did some of his best work, and made some sense out MABs so called writing. Wayyyy too young and definitely not what I expected to hear this morning!
RIP!

I was trying to remember her. I couldn't recall who she was. When you said if she learned how to cry it clicked.
Of course she was awful as Kiki Jerome. I can't recall who she found dead. It was either one of Roger Howard many characters or one of Michael Easton many forgettable roles. She screamed and yelled and cried. It was downright awful. I couldn't find it on YouTube. I remember posting the video back in the day.
Haha, She probably falls into that category of: "Actors who performed best when they played dead"
Her crying on Y&R when Colleen died was iconic though....I wonder if there's still a clip somewhere? Where she just makes a weird howling noise while looking like she's smiling overtop of it.0 -

Lord she was absolutely DREADFUL as the first SOARSed Abby back during the MAB era, I never wanted to see her again on Y&R.
I was going to add that I forget if she learned to cry better when she was on GH, but we probably know the answer already!

Oh, I agree. I can't even picture them knowing each other. But there was some complicating factor --- wasn't he a friend of Mark Lambert (Victoria Mallory's husband), and there was something wrong with a car or something, and Mark asked him, "Will you pick up my wife from Television City if you're not doing anything right now"? lol.
Yeah he was a friend of her husbands, haha. Very odd yet fascinating connection!
Besides the 1984 wedding I’d be curious to know if Paul and Leslie were in the same room together….oh yeah Steve and Peggy’s wedding would be the only other time? In 1981.

Doug Davidson (Paul Williams Y&R) stopped by Television City to pick-up Victoria Mallory from work, landed an under-5 role as Paul in May 1978, got a contract in early 1980, and stayed for about 40 years.
It's still very funny to me those 2 were friends IRL. Leslie and Paul as characters just seem worlds apart to ever picture them offscreen together as well...LOL
anyways, Kimberlin Brown was only suppose to play Sheila for a month when she came on Y&R in May 1990, but it turned into 3 more months then she was on contract by December 1990 and of course has been playing Sheila off and on for 33 years. (on both Y&R and B&B)Scott Reeves was only suppose to be playing Ryan for 3 episodes in June 1991 then ended up playing him for the next decade, also Kristoff St. John (RIP) was only suppose to come on as Neil for about a month In February 1991 and played the role till his death in February 2019

Agnes made millions from ABC after she sold AMC and OLTL. Agnes is the one who recommended Glory Monty as producer for GH. Case closed on the millions. Fred Silverman asked Agnes about how to save GH. Agnes also recommeded Douglas Marland for GH. Silverman also loved Agnes.
Interesting, I always wondered if Agnes had a hand with any sort of GH related BTS stuff. Given her track record with ABC I wonder if GH ever considered her for a HW position.

That's really amazing @YRfan23!
I guess Kimberlin Brown was bringing so much young viewers. That lady has some presence! One thing I remember now is Sheila and her music score. That tone that you all know that comes up when Sheila thinks about something or plots. That particular music suspense score left a mark so strong on me I would hum it all day and pretend I was plotting something scary. I would run in the garden humming that music and laugh hysterically as if I was Sheila and I remember at some point a neighbor started to complain of all the noise. Too bad nowadays there is no iconic music score that repeats and repeats like that anymore. Everything sounds so basic now. Back then you would hear the music and know that Sheila is around. I MISS this so much.
Haha that's also a great story!
the music on Y&R also really drew me in! It's just so different then any traditional soap music. When I was watching those Sheila scenes from Y&R, it just sent chills down my spine, and really kept me glued to the screen! B&B has/had great music too for Sheila, but Y&R really has the best evil sounding cues for villains overall IMO.0 -
Passions: I had seen bits and pieces of several episodes before, but it was Summer 2000 with the Prom Boat that got me hooked for the rest of the show's run! I often wish I did earlier on though because I always liked Tabitha and Timmy, but it wasn't really till the Prom Boat, young 9 year old me became a faithful viewer.
Days: Again, I saw bits here and there because it came on before Passions, but I think it was Colin Murphy's murder in January 2003 that made me a loyal Days viewer for a while. Back then (again I was 11-12 years old) I thought murder mysteries on soaps were a lot of fun (and also because recently Passions had their first "who done it" when Julian was shot at the Canary) So when I kept seeing promos for this "Murder at Midnight" I had to tune in! then of course the fun continued the following fall with the "Salem Serial Killer"!
Y&R/B&B: My mom basically watched those two soaps when I was really little, so I have really only been a loyal viewer by myself for almost 15 years, but for both shows I think it has to be Sheila as well! like you said @divinemotion, even when I was like 3-5 years old The dark haired scary but pretty evil lady on Mommy's shows intrigued me! I think my earliest memory was Sheila "killing" Jay Garvin! Of course when clips started pouring out on YT and I saw various Sheila clips on B&B and discovered she came from Y&R and watched the famous lab fight with Lauren, that helped me want to know about not only Sheila but the entire history of both shows, then eventually it led me to collection classic Y&R episodes and sharing on YT, and the rest is history!0

I so agree with you MAB probably thought she was "honoring history" (her favorite line to say during her reign of terror) With killing off yet another Matriarch of the show, the same way LML shamefully killed off John Abbott, 4 years before....
God bless Julianna M. though. I think she's 94 now, but still responds at the Y&R FB group!
