  1. I was always disappointed they didn't make more of an effort with Tim and weaving him into the canvas.
  2. I like Rebecca Budig but I never ever felt Greenlee was necessary. I always felt Gillian should have been the one to have lasted so long. I don't know why.
  3. I was watching regularly at the time and I also preferred Gillian with her edge. She was beyond a saccharine heroine once she died. It was disappointing. I really liked her and the character with Ryan (when he too was allowed an edge).
  4. So great to see more Loving clips!
  5. It is a shame they wasted her both times. They really missed the boat in the 90s to rebuild the Matthews clan. I think most soaps by the mid to late 90s really started ignoring their deep histories and never tried many big returns or efforts to rebuild the core families.
  6. Ive always wondered what the deal was with the writing out of Nicole, Maisie, Quinn, MJ, Kathleen (off screen), Vicky and Nancy. Were there just too many similar young women? Of course Nicole ad Vicky were recast and then Amanda was introduced. And Lisa was around.
  7. Very nice. TFP. I can see why fans disliked the infusion of McCleary's. That opening alone was obnoxiously full of them, LOL.
  8. Yeah, they could have.
  9. I agree. She was awesome and fantastic as Virginia.
  10. Right, true. But this Chris was a pretty boy so I considered him a model. I think he is. It's too bad the writers never knew what to do with Chris and never seemed satisfied with any actor in the role. He should have followed in Bob's footsteps. Have several lovers (maybe even a Lisa-type), then a true love (Jennifer/Kim type). I dunno that I consider Emily a Lisa-type.
  11. I loved ATWT around 2000-2001. When I first started really watching. Though not religiously. I liked the kid actors at the time. The cast integration was great. I liked seeing real Adam and ANDY! I didn't mind model Chris. Seeing Hal again. Wow. Losing him was a huge void on the show. Sigh. Helen Wagner aged VERY well.
  12. Soap Classics has posted a Thanksgiving episode from ATWT. Not sure of year, but it's gotta be between 1999 and 2001. http://soapclassics.com/index.php/free-online-episode.html
  13. Man! I so want to see this show, LOL. I wish Agnes would try pushing for a DVD release, though I doubt it would sell well.
  14. Interesting review. Great read. TFP Carl! SB is another soap I've always wanted to see. I had no idea they lost so many characters in that time period. WOW. That's a LOT.
  15. I think in a way, yeah. She was the young vixen with dreams to marry a rich guy.
  16. 1999 and 2000 were the best years of the soap. So much more traditional (while 2000 was a little more out there). Good, soapy slow pacing ... It's so sad what it turned into.
  17. Ah. Makes sense then I guess.
  18. I agree. It was also a big shift in character for Amanda. The character took a huge nosedive. At least Season 7 attempted to bring the real Amanda back.
  19. It seems like in the 80s soaps dressed a lot of young, sexy women very matronly. I wonder why?
  20. Season 6 was a huge disappointment. Season 7 improved a lot, IMO. Seasons 2, 3 & 4 are my favorite seasons. I haven't watched Season 5 all the way through, but I like a lot of it. Season 1 was good in a different way in that it really set up who the characters were, even if the first half of that season were "stories of the week" with some lingering plotlines. It wasn't until Amanda and then Kimberly and even Sydney appeared that season when things started to become really interesting and take off.
  21. What was with Irna and killing off popular heroines through ridiculous traffic accidents? Lol
  22. Yeah, Michelle was never all that interesting to me, ESPECIALLY with St. Alban in the role. Talk about ZZZZ. She was just too wrong for the role. Mike should have been the anchor, with Ed as the weaker, troubled brother. I also agree they needed a strong female presence. Maureen was OK, but I wonder if they moved her into matriarch mode too soon? Meta should have been brought back a lot sooner (like around Bert's death) to take on that role. Or have Mike have a no-nonsense wife who could fill that role. I don't know if he did or not, I'm familiar with a lot of GL history but draw blanks on Mike, sorry!
  23. I agree. I get O'Leary is a funny guy and a little bit of a goofball, but at times Rick was written almost like a joke. It is a shame the Bauer's were never truly reinvigorated. There was a lot that could have been done with them. I also think a lot of the middle aged Bauers were affected by the fact that, weren't Mike and Ed soarsed a LOT and then they did the same to Rick? And also, Michelle was aged way too much. Especially with Nancy St. Alban in the role. Nothing against her, but she made Michelle seem 40 when Michelle should have been a hell of a lot younger and not saddled with a husband and kids so soon. IMO.
  24. I'd be surprised too. Is it a reboot or a REMAKE?
