  1. See as a writer, it's so unsatisfying to know there are missing parts. Grr. The funny thing is that Barbara actually comes clean to the family about her part in Tom and Margo's separation in an episode later that year (after Stenbeck returns to Oakdale after three years being presumed dead), is forgiven and her character experiences a kind of redemption but those episodes are also missing...so... yay?
  2. Yeah, see, the set up going missing is a big problem for me trying to watch on You Tube. I'm just thinking about the absurdity of me writing anything with the rising complications and reversals and twists missing (occupational hazard, I guess). I kind of remember episodes from when I watched when it originally aired but I was a child back then and I would love to see the complete story as an actual adult, LOL. Also, the episode when Barbara gets exposed for her affair with Tonio Reyes (not the fake affair with Tom that she invented) is gravy to the A storyline. The thing that has always tickled me about Marland's writing is, often as you're seeing one story begin to conclude, you are seeing another (or two) take root. Some of the B and C stories will eventually become the A story down the line. So when you miss those episodes that are part of the set up, you're actually missing the beginning of a new story.
  3. There are many stories like this posted on You Tube. Almost the same thing happens with the Brock Lombard story conclusion. Even the Tad Channing story arc is missing several episodes of its B and C storylines.
  4. Being a writer who is prone to being broke, this would be one of my first instincts. Also when I used to live in NYC, I would see these types of people in passing all the time, although admittedly I was inside the theater already.
  5. Reading these horrific accounts (this one is particularly graphic) convince me daily that the twisted balance of power in this country (not to mention others) needs to be corrected. So many women's (and some men's) path to leading successful, even healthy lives have been upended or thwarted by these twisted men in positions of power. Personally, I sometimes wonder whether the times I've said 'no' have ended up impacting my career possibilities. It's a bitter possibility to try to decipher but no regrets in saying no. This case, however is flat-out physical abuse toward a partner. Schneiderman is clearly a sadist and misogynist as one of the women was quoted as saying in the article.
  6. The story in the New Yorker (that I posted in the Hollywood Assault/Sexual Harassment thread) gives a very detailed (and stomach churning) account of the abuse.
  7. So who's gonna prosecute Weinstein now? Lawd.
  8. Oops, lol @adrnyc I'd probably just try to catch her on her way to/from the theater (a la B'way) and subtly say "If I were writing for ATWT, I would've written a good storyline for you, especially for the end of the series, Eileen".
  9. "Be Best"? Are these folks serious?
  10. Sounds like a confirmation of what I suspected. I was just going to post the above New York Article via this tweet:
  11. Venus hasn't played in a month, so I'm not shocked by that result. I'd much prefer she defend her points at Rome, Wimbledon-plus go a step further. I was surprised she even showed up for Madrid, she must not have heard the nasty things that slimeball tournament director Ion Tiriac said about Serena.
  12. I read that NYT article on Cohen. He is definitely Mob-adjacent. The depth and breadth of his connections to the Italian and Russian mobs is astounding. I have a feeling that if Mueller's team does a deep dive into those LLCs, they may uncover a whole lot of signs of money laundering.
  13. I agree and at least he showed up to compete, unlike the rest of his compatriots. When is the last time a US man got to a final on European clay? It was a good week for him and he has lots to learn and is young enough to do this. As for Madrid, it isn't a true clay court surface so I rarely pay attention to the results there.
  14. Is this the same firm that Harvey Weinstein used to target his victims?
  15. He's my fave too. No one's perfect and even Marland had errors but when I look at the current crop by comparison, they make his errors look correct by contrast.
  16. Had ATWT actually finished strong, there might have been a compelling case and perhaps some further interest beyond just talk but with that floptastic ending, I guess we'll never truly know. I didn't realize this.
  17. Good for Tiafoe! He's facing the hometown hope Sousa so I don't expect it to be easy but then again, PCB was the defending champion and he beat him in straight sets. A great week for Frances but I hope he can snatch the title tomorrow.
  18. I saw a clip on the news this evening and it looks as if her defense are still sticking with that story of the group being a female empowerment group where everyone 'chose' to brand themselves (he used the analogy of a fraternity where the members brand themselves). He's trying to argue that everyone participated of their own free will, as if there were no victims. He even used the phrase "No Coercion". For a moment there I thought I was listening to some warped Trump speech.
  19. Yeah, there was too much tying up of everything in a neat little bow before the ATWT ended. In a way, Lily and Holden's "ending" was the most realistic of all the storylines (Bob and Kim moving to Arizona? Really?). This is going to sound somewhat controversial but I think that tying up everything in a tidy bow shut the door on any possibility for the show to come back. Many people hollered and whined about AMC's 'cliffhanger' ending but it actually created some space for the possibility of a revival (which it did get, at least for a season with the TOLN online version). If I'm not mistaken OLTL did a similar thing (not as obvious) with the Todd/Trevor situation. Now if the Daytime Emmys were truly smart, they'd once and for all award Kathryn Hays with that lifetime achievement award and they'd likely be able to get Julianne Moore to be one of the presenters or at least a pre-taped segment but the way that Moore has spoken so highly of her, I wouldn't be surprised if they could get her there as one of the presenters. It's remains inexcusable that Hays doesn't have an Emmy.
  20. The Art of the "For Real??"
  21. THIS! It seems as if their declarations are more about covering their own as*ses when the sh*t hits the fan than about trying to try to urge any correction of wrongdoing. The stench is now so foul that even they can no longer hold their noses and pretend that it isn't there.
