  1. Another day, another investigation of possible ethics violations by a member of Trump's cabinet. Why does America now treat this as if it's par for the course?
  2. This unlikely to be news for anyone who had recently seen Sascha Bajin sitting with KiKi Mladenovic's mother.
  3. Speaking of Harris, she has released 15 years worth of tax returns, more than any other candidate.
  4. I'm not so sure about that, tbh. Martha's crime mainly hurt Martha. You could say that others were adversely affected by her participation in insider trading but those affected were mainly the greedy sharks on Wall Street, not kids who studied their brains out hoping to go to the college of their dreams. Add to that, Loughlin has not even released a statement of contrition a la Felicity Huffman. If Loughlin goes to trial, much will depend on how she conducts herself during the trial. I specifically remember Martha Stewart's trial and one thing people remarked on was the fact that despite the appearance of being totally resolute about her innocence during the trial, once the verdict was in, Stewart seemed even more resolute in accepting what the judgement had pronounced. To a scrum of media journalists and television cameras, Stewart declared that she wasn't afraid of hard work and that she intended to make the most of her time in prison. Stewart helped other incarcerated women while she was there (the poncho she wore as she walked out of prison was made by a fellow prisoner) and I think that was what went a long way in building her street cred. Also, hanging out with rappers didn't hurt her cause either. But yeah, you talk about taking away places from other people's kids by way of graft and you've got a genuine problem in terms of getting (back) into people's good graces.
  5. More about the Avenatti indictment.
  6. Finally!
  7. Should've known that tennis commentary would be involved in such unprofessional behavior.
  8. I agree that the lyrical content for the song for this promo is kind of sketchy but this ad isn't a bad way to introduce a new character--just enough intrigue.
  9. Oh, I think those politicians absolutely meant it to be condescending, as if to say that some poor kids shouldn't go if they couldn't afford it but it struck me as ironic that the same could be said for many children of wealthy for a different reason, that many just might not be academically inclined.
  10. From what I've read, heard, Ganz was the former head of the IDF and was in the same party as Netanyahu until he broke ranks and started his own political party, colloquially known as the "Blue and White" party and it is considered to be of a centrist-leaning party. Kind of a mess, in that both Netanyahu and Ganz claim victory at this time but the full results do not appear to be in yet. And the full results appear to be far off, if reports are accurate.
  11. Tiafoe made the final of Estoril last year, the first time that any ATP American player made any final on European red clay in God-knows-how long. Any word on Justin Gimelstob's case these days?
  12. From what I've read, many of these elite universities were scrutinizing admissions policies like big donations and legacy approvals and it was no longer a guaranteed way for entry into the ranks of elite higher education, so these parents were looking for a new way that was deemed to be a 'sure bet' for their kids to gain entry. In other words, they 'kicked it up a notch' in terms of the bribery, fraud and scams. They didn't. I think one of the Hilton sisters attended university but it was well known that higher education was never a priority for them or most heiresses. Few of these wealthy kids, unless they were going to take over the family business, ever really needed to go to college but somewhere along the line, it became a prestige thing. A must have, like a trek to Europe or a summer holiday in Ibiza. Funny when all of those conservative politicians and pundits were squawking about how college wasn't for everyone and some people ought to attend vocational training, they were specifically talking about the working class but this could really apply to some of the wealthy as well. It never occurred to some of those folks that some of the people who might not be academically inclined could also encompass the children of wealthy people.
  13. The Southern District of New York doesn't play, especially when it comes to financial crimes like insider trading!
  14. Over the last several years, I've observed zealous prosecutors who have gotten far less than their sentencing ambitions. TBH, I can't remember the last time that a celebrity (especially one charged with a non-violent offense) was charged more than the minimum sentence.
  15. I was going to ask if anyone was following the Israeli elections. I'm skittish on looking too far ahead. I was watching a livestream from France24 and the reports seem to indicated that Ganz and Netanyahu are "neck and neck". Also that the right-wing parties that Netanyahu wants to partner with are doing poorly at the polls right now, e.g. neither of the right-wing parties appear to have enough votes to cross the threshold to be a part of a viable government. Interesting, to say the least.
  16. Oh, it would be a crisis! It says everything about America and the history that the members of these churches were thanking God that, at least their children weren't burnt alive in their churches because we know that it's happened before.
  17. So this person's favorite era was the 60s and 70s then? This person also complained about the Snyders, so according to how the post sounded, it came off as though he/they preferred an era previous to when these characters were on the show, which had to be the previous decades.
  18. Every few years it seems as if a group of black churches burn to the ground under suspicious circumstances. Such are the times that we live in now, a story like this is met with a collective shrug by the media.
  19. Everything's perfectly fine, nothing to worry about.
  20. All these fake Black Twitter bots tweeting best wishes to Nielsen.
  21. Watching those group of episodes and seeing the character of Spree, was I the only one who was reminded of DiDi Conn when seeing her? It's no surprise that the actress whose name is Dana Kaminski (whose name is misspelled in the closing credits of the episode that I was watching) became a voice over actor (I wonder whether she's ever worked with Brian Bloom?). It looks like she's on Facebook and Twitter, if anyone is keeping track. https://www.facebook.com/HollywoodActorPrep/ https://twitter.com/__dana__ On YT, I remember seeing someone complain that they longed for the days before the Snyders and the Montgomerys took over the show. I could kind of see blaming Marland for the Snyders but the Montgomerys (before Margo's paternity became known she was also known as a Montgomery)?? The Montgomery family began on the show and had a good amount of storyline way before Marland took the reins. Perhaps this person was talking about the 1970s or earlier?
  22. Speaking of Slezak, she will be appearing in an upcoming ABC 20/20 documentary on the chilling murder of Rebecca Schaeffer. Yikes @SFK We literally posted at the same time!
