  1. Many moons ago when NYT first went digital and their online subscriptions were free of cost, I signed up for a subscription. I never got a paid subscription but kept the account for, it must be over two decades now. Today, I deleted my account that I had since the beginning of their digital edition. And in the slot that asks for reasons for leaving boy, did I give them a piece of my mind! I actually did this early this morning. Nobody needed to prompt me to take this action. I was furious. And just the other day, NYT was bragging about how many digital subscriptions they now have.
  2. Edit, never mind, she deleted her tweet It likely occurred to her what network she now works with. Remember the infamous words of Leslie Moonves?
  3. And some will say “You see, it was a bad idea to center the political world on a daytime soap!” To that I say, it hardly matters at this point. Any show centering Black characters, particularly in the daytime, on a major network, especially one that leans conservative, is likely to try to put some curbs on full creative freedom. I don’t trust CBS. I don’t trust any network but having been raised watching CBS daytime, I really don’t trust them.
  4. I have been trying to urge people to disassociate from the toxic wasteland but people insist that there is some benefit to engagement. It benefits the right-wing, that’s for certain.
  5. And CBS is a very conservative network, has been for many years.
  6. Someone said there are people on Twitter claiming to have been burned by…wait for it, Biden? So glad I am not on Twitter. People will try to find any excuse for their racism.
  7. I have been on the edge since 2016 but 2020 made me feel some sort of hope, I guess. But it’s definitive now that I cannot trust even the concept of this country. I was born here but I have always felt like a foreigner, even among other Black people, I have been looked at as an exotic stranger, at best. I have been on the edge for many years and this has made it inescapably clear to me. America has shown me that I don’t belong here in myriad of ways now.
  8. I am listening to a podcast that said that going forward, as a result of this election, much of the programming will be directed to “flyover country” (her words, not mine) so I now have to think about how this may impact BTG.
  9. I don’t know what others are hearing but I am hearing many Black women who are saying that they are not going to do a f*cking thing but the barest of minimums going forward. I felt this way in 2016 and I feel this way now. This is who America is fundamentally.
  10. The last time Trump was in office, people literally died. This is not theoretical. It’s not about wonder. It is about fact. People who were in his cabinet have been warning that he will be worse because he will be unbounded by anyone who would have held his worse impulses in check. You can’t put lipstick on a pig. America voted to throw her arms widen open to facism. Let’s stop thinking otherwise.
  11. At this point, I feel very numb. I’m also tired.
  12. The state where I reside voted blue in all of the highest levels (POTUS, Congress) but I feel like I invest and have gotten little to nothing in return. I am genuinely looking at where dual citizenship can take me at this point. I feel as if, the longer I stay here, the more stunted my prospects become.
  13. And please don’t blame Black women or Black voters, we are like the canaries in the coal mine, we always see the danger. People decided to vote for a felon who, in the last days…mimicked a sex act in public on a microphone and Harris is the flawed candidate? Mkay.
  14. I hate to sound apocalyptic but I had this awful feeling that many people will lose their lives. Like his first term. There needs to be a serious reckoning in America.
  15. All of the songs post above are in my personal playlist of loved songs and the Tevin Campbell and Secret Garden songs are from my adolescence but I remember watching the Listen Up documentary and being shocked that Jones produced this song.
  16. Oh, do I ever hope so! I could not abide by likes of Musk possibly benefiting from my data and creative output. Even while he shows utter contempt for many of the people who use Twitter, he benefits from their tweets and data.
  17. The article also stated that Musk is boosting pro GOP/right-wing tweets, so those of who often turn to Twitter and find yourself with more than a healthy dose of nerves or depressed more than usual, that is also by design. Get off Twitter guys, it’s a wasteland by design. My post got broken up, unfortunately, that is why it is in two separate posts, which was not my intention.
  18. I wish people would finally abandon Twitter, it’s getting ridiculous. Either Musk is deliberately junking this social media platform or is allowing the wheels to fall off, one by one. There was an article stating that he is centering his account and what benefits his interests, while stifling opposing voices. That tweet that was posted upthread from someone claiming to have been trying to post it all day, does anyone actually believe that this is by accident, or that it’s some kind of glitch? It’s a feature not a bug.
  19. Wow, there are enough accolades to describe his influence on music and culture. All that can be said for now is R.I.P. Mr. Quincy Jones and my condolences to his family and loved ones.
  20. People seem to want to dismiss or forget the Comey factor. Repeatedly. I am not singling out anyone in this thread but in general, I have noticed the panic (though I generally avoid it because I am not on Twitter) but if we’re going to compare, include all the information in making comparisons. That’s all I am saying.
  21. Despite a lot of Russian meddling, Maia Sandu was reelected president of Moldova. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/moldova-holds-presidential-runoff-election-amid-claims-russian-meddling-2024-11-03/
  22. Apologies if this has been posted previously but this is a very strong ad.
