Could royalties be the reason behind why Eileen Fulton and so many other senior veterans got so little storylines in the show's final years? Or was it just garden variety ageism?

So sorry to hear about Charlie Robinson's passing. Yes, he is no longer in pain and suffering but, for fans who had hoped there could have been, even a quasi-reunion (which would have been hard without Harry Anderson) seems to make no sense with two pivotal characters now gone. May Robinson rest in peace.

As I said, it might be easier to track who is actually going to the Olympics, rather than who's not.

They were probably assuming or hoping that no daytime drama fans would be reading that article. What those comments told me though, was that, whether pursue that particular model, they are clearly looking for a way in to using "television"/streaming or whatever the latest model will be to sell their product via entertainment on some screen. All while leaving their history behind, hopefully forgotten.

I think the U.S. Open trophies have always been closest to the display trophy in size. I remember in 2000 when Marat Safin and Venus Williams won, Safin said something about struggling to fit his trophy in the overhead compartment, as he was insistent that he was bringing it on the plane, not checking in baggage.

I think, up until the very early 00s, the winner's trophy used to be the same size as the display trophy. I can't remember what year they began to give those mini replicas. I want to guess, maybe by 2005, or 2006? I'm too lazy to try to check when.

Even with ads, you could experiment with the sequence and whether to front-load or put more ads on the backend. Streaming services like Peacock, Roku and even YouTube (although YT is somewhat heavy-handed and clumsy with their placement of ads) do this. Networks have shown us that they are not into trying anything different, whether it would be successful or not. I had to guffaw when I read that article a few years ago, when P&G claimed to believe that 'Choose Your Own Adventure" would be the wave of the future, when they produced soaps, with the exception of a few years, here and there, they appeared to be one of the most risk-averse production companies I could think of.

How would that work out chronologically though? Tonio would have had to have been a young teenager, like how Iva was only thirteen when she became pregnant with Lily. I mentioned Gabriel and Tonio because it would've provided an easy out to what I thought was a dumb storyline: making him Craig's. It also could have been a way to bring Bryant back with the discovery that Bryant was actually kidnapped and the "accident" staged, out of revenge for finding out that Gabriel's mother, before she passed away, convinced Sierra to protect Gabriel from ever finding out who his biological father was and Sierra, in turn, convincing Craig to go along with the ruse. Tonio finds out, summons his connections in the underground and criminal networks (with a helping hand from James Stenbeck, who still owed Tonio a favor) to take a son, to replace the son who was taken from him.

They probably wouldn't want to risk tangling with the likes of Sony. It's really up to Sony/Y&R/Bell family to make those episodes available online, the way they did other episodes during the pandemic. Showing it in a contained space is different from streaming, possibly to the world, which would likely violate Sony copyright policy. It's similar to how the WGA makes Oscar winning and nominated screenplays available in their library onsite, but not on their website. That would likely violate their own protection standards and their duty to their members. Of course, I learned in Grad school, there are other ways to procure scripts from award winning and nominated scripts. Sony is one of the strictest in enforcing their anti-piracy protections, so my guess is that the Paley Center would not want to risk running afoul of that policy.

Never did I think for one second that Berrettini would win that match. Seems like Mateo put everything into eking out that first set. I'm just surprised that the match was four sets, it felt like five. Congratulations to Nolé. Other than the first set, he made Mateo dance to his tune. Also, I don't know of a player who doesn't volley who can win Wimbledon. Pliskova and Berrettini do not appear to know how to volley.

Even though it's the New York Times, this Op-ed is still worth the read. And I have the feeling that this only scratches the surface.

Does NBC own the rights to that theme music? Or did it revert to the composer? Today, I thought I saw a tweet asking that ESPN try to get the theme song. Probably unlikely that they would be able to, but when I heard that theme song, it made the tournament feel like an event, a special one. Now, it just feels workaday.
