  1. I've been watching B&B the last few days here for the first time in years, and I'm not feeling this new Ridge at all. Ronn Moss wasn't much of an actor but he was Ridge. I'm not sure how far behind we are, but Steffy and Bill have just slept together and right now everyone else is slowly finding out. It's actually quite good soap, with a major reveal like this slowly finding its way around the cast. Tonight's second episode (we get two each day) ended with Ridge showing up in Bill's office. One thing that struck me was that Brooke's livingroom seems to have shrunk in size. Last time I watched it looked much bigger. I guess it's a result of shrinking budgets?
  2. Unlike the Republicans then.....
  3. So true! And that is a big reason why I think that Kim returning is a mistake. They just want to capitalize on her reputation as the Queen Bitch of Emmerdale, when she was much more than that, plus the fact that none of the important people she interacted with are around anymore.
  4. Well, after reading some spoilers about Kim's return all I can say is: I knew it! I knew this return would destroy Kim's legacy. So frustrating! It also means that I have completely changed my mind about possibly bringing back other favourites from the past. Now I want each and every one of them to stay as far away from this show as possible. No Sam, no Matt, no Dolly, no Kathy, no Sandie.... Leave them in the past and let their legacy remain intact.
  5. Have I gone blind? I can't seem to find Falcon Crest anywhere? Surely it couldn't have fallen so low in the ratings that it didn't make the top 68?
  6. Frankly, the last few years it almost was a waste of time. But I often have a hard time letting go of shows that I once loved, and I really loved this show.
  7. Maybe it could have run longer. Whether it should have though...that is a different question. Personally I felt that it had run too long. That being said, I'm still slightly peeved that we never got a resolution to the question whether Oscar Blaketon, one of two original characters remaining at the end, had survived being impaled on a pitch-fork in the last episode. And yes, the show never left the 1960s, even though it stretched believablility beyond the ridiculous.
  8. This show is a textbook example of a show that ran waaay too long (372 episodes, 1992-2010). The first years were fantastic, but then, after the death of leading lady Kate (Niamh Cusack) the show began a slow but relentless decline. The last few years it had deteriorated into almost a caricature of itself. All the grittiness and realism of the first years were gone. But I will always treasure those first years as some of the best on television.
  9. For women this has been going on forever though.....
  10. I'm not familiar with most of these, but this response makes me think that it's the same as it would be for me if Emmerdale was entirely populated by Dingles.
  11. Marcelo Ríos with a big interview for 'La Tercera'. "Federer acts like a woman on court, doesn't even spit". That's not acting like a woman, Marcelo! That's called having manners!
  12. ^^ Well, if it's only that we might as well ask the pope to make him a saint right now.....
  13. Kim did some heinous things too, like trying to trample Nick with her horse, watching Frank die before her eyes and taunting Kathy at Dave's funeral. But, like you said, she was much more complex than that. I think it's telling that the last thing we heard about her (at least I think it was the last) was when she sent flowers to Seth's funeral. They had a very touching relationship, and little things like that go a long way towards humanizing even the most despicable characters. (Unless it's a Dingle, then all bets are off..... )
  14. It's amazing that, at 76, Babs still sounds better than most. Long live the Queen!
