  1. It's astonishing how easy it is for people to lie nowadays, about practically everything, or so it seems anyway.

I'm not gonna be a hypocrite and say that I've never done it, but it's been more along the lines of "my dog ate my homework".....

why are they backing off NOW? Columbine, Newtown, Sandy Hook.....and now they get the hint?

Better late than never I guess....

Maybe this time is the first that these companies have been subjected to pressure from the public for their association with the NRA?

Have you ever seen the rebooted Upstairs, Downstairs?  That was the first time I ever remember seeing Claire Foy.  Other than that, I didn't really find the reboot to be all that good.

I did - totally forgot that Claire Foy was in it! I am a fan of Alex Kingston,  and enjoyed the second series more than the first, I believe. But yes, I didn't enjoy it in any way as the original. I just go so involved in those original characters. It was unhealthy.

The "new" Upstairs, Downstairs was horrible in my opinion. Not even Eileen Atkins and Jean Marsh could save that travesty. To be perfectly honest I didn't even think Jean was all that good in it.

But I admit that I'm biased since the original is my favourite tv-show of all time.

I think that's a pretty natural part of a storyline. The real issue is we already know Debbie will face no consequences and most likely this will end up being about how she suffers.

You're most likely right, and it is so sickening.

Cain’s treatment of Simon is exactly the reason why it’s so utterly ludicrous for Moira to go back to him. He’s a relentlessly thuggish piece of shite.

I’m not too sure about that, Carl.I’m thinking Charley Webb might want to spend more time with her hot hubby and toddlers so maybe this could be her exit storyline. I think it will take several months to play out, though, maybe she could end up finishing filming in April or May.

From your lips to God's ears! Please!!   :P

On another note, I hate, hate, hate that Cain is seemingly going to go all vigilante on Debbie's partner-in-crime, Simon. This is one of the many, many, many reasons I cannot stand him, this pathetic brutish behaviour that he constantly reverts to. I'm not saying that Simon shouldn't be punished for what he did, but Debbie is the one who is ultimately responsible for what happened to Ross. This is all so typical of the Dingle family. Everyone else is to blame except them.

I'm seriously running out of ways to express how much I loathe that whole family. They make me sick!

I kind of detached from the show once it became all about Abby, Luka or Carter's drug addiction or romantic foibles. I also couldn't buy into Greene and Corday together - I loved the actors separately, but I felt ending the pairing with Corday and Benton came from BTS stuff, and I hated that change.

The show began to be driven by external stuff that felt hollow to me - adding and then killing Lucy Knight (though that two-parter is still incredible), trying to quickly replace Carol and Doug with Abby and Luka, trying to make the show more of a soap opera or section off Corday and Greene (or Benton and the wooden but less 'controversial' Michael Michele) together, etc. I do wish I'd hung in longer, because I loved Chen coming back and Susan Lewis. I saw a bit of it in those years, but the show also seemed to get driven by more and more stunts. Romano is killed by a helicopter, etc. Mark Greene dies a miserable, unnecessary death. I just couldn't be bothered to dig into that.

That being said, the show at its lowlights is still way ahead of most similar shows today. It was a cut above most.

I agree with practically everything you say, especially the part in bold. Those two episodes, especially the second one, were some of the best ever on television.

I did love everything around Mark's death, except that it had to happen. But it was all superbly done and acted. I'll never forget the image of Kerry reading the message from Corday posted on the noticeboard in the ER and breaking down in tears.

  8. Clooney leaving didn't bother me at all. Mark's death on the other hand was a real blow. And after Corday and Weaver had left my interest waned. I didn't even watch the final few seasons, but I came back for the final episode.

LOVE ER! I used to watch the reruns on TNT because I started the show pretty late into it's run (I think it was either the season before or the season Anthony Edwards left). The last few seasons were so-so but I always really enjoyed it. Even if the show isn't terrible, it's always tough for me to enjoy it the same as I did when you had most of the original cast still around. I loved a lot of the new characters. Maura Tierney

Amazing how different we can see things. Abby (Maura Tierney's character) was one of my least favourite on ER.
