Y&R to air classic episodes
If it is villains week then that is pretty disappointing they are only doing one 1991 episode. I try not to complain as I am grateful for anything at this point but dang I would have loved to see Suzanne Lynch, Eve, Edward or Rick Daros. Grateful to see the David Kimble story more though. But Kevin? They completely whitewashed him and Michael by the 2010s so pointless to show him as a villain.

Oh so Phillip died in 1975, I always thought it was 1976. Maybe Bill Bell ran through the original story bible and was playing around with things before coming to a decision?

This 1991 episode was everything for me. Almost every episode from this era they have replayed has been top notch but the chemistry between KSJ and VR was there from day one ot definitely brought a smile my face after a long day at work. Did the show maintain Dru and John's relationship? I wish we could have seen more of Nathan and Olivia and Cassandra and Brad though. If Cassandra dies shortly after this do any longtime viewers recall missed opportunities or relationships for her? The Brock/Kay/Clint story was fantastic (outside of the dreadful under fives) and had me drawn in, nice to see location footage and poor Jill thinking she got a job offer. Yikes.

I would love to see the Mark Toland murder mystery on OLTL. Sounds like a true umbrella story as everyone seems involved from what little I know of the cast then. I had no idea Mark was blackmailing with Viki among other things before his death. The role of Mark was never recast so this is Tommy Lee Jones, right? Its nice to see more of Larry and Viki's friendship being prominent as well and I always wanted to see more of Julie too. I am so, so glad they killed Phillip off instead of Katherine on Y&R. I don't know where they were headed with Phillip getting close to Lorie and Jill marrying Phillip. I feel like this isnt well known and will soon be dropped. Hope to see the Kay/Brock/Jill/Phillop quad play out for a while though.

I started watching in 2006 so I was used to the Ryan focus but he dragged the show down for me from 2008 onwards. I loved Aiden and Greenlee together and then they ruined Aiden for him but MCE just shined as crazy Annie and adding her to the Chandlers was probably the only good thing about the last two years outside of the Hubbard family. Still a lot of lost potential and bad casting to me though. I hate ER was not back as Bianca (and I would have liked to see the added stakes and flashbacks with the history of JR and Bianca) and I never liked anyone playing Marissa. Then they wasted Frankie, Natalia and Brot while whoever played Randi never impressed me. I just watched the 1987 Chateau explosion episode. It looks like 1987 started out strong from the Angie/Jesse/Yvonne/Lester story into the explosion and then Mark's intervention. Was this a well received time for the show?

It would never happen but I would love a Y&R reboot when they return with VR back as Drucilla and Lily back and let's pretend Cane and the twins never happened. I would love to see MM and VR acting opposite each other. It is shocking how stagnant all the soaps currently are for me. No atmosphere. No mood. No high stakes. No nothing.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Caught up with the 1999 and 2012 episodes. Loved the 1999 one especially Kay/Mac I would love to see the next episode. Were Jill and Malcolm just friends with flirting here and there and was that always a thing? I had no idea. Almost wondering what a summer fling would have been like and Jill and Olivia going at it. Malcolm, Olivia and Neil were so aimless those years. The 2012 episode just highlighted the stunt casting and making Phyllis more of a homemaker era for me. I only ever liked Vail Bloom as Heather so was not interested in this one. And turning Ricky into a psycho made me so mad at the time I remember feeling the actor had charisma at least and they didn't have a younger actor with charisma until the Mal Young era for me. And OMG Daisy/Kevin/Michael. They hogged up so much boring airtime for years. Good grief. And that Nikki and Sharon cat fight-I was either done with the show by then or blocked it out. Bad acting by both and not choreographed at all. Played like comedy despite the stakes of their history and the nastiness of Sharon/Victor together.

I am loving how complicated the Jill/Phillip/Kay/Brock story is and how juicy for Kay to goad her son into marrying her enemy and then send them to the cabin. I almost hate that this was not more of an ongoing story I feel like there could have been a lot of drama milked out of that. But they never even slept together did they since they were "siblings" years later?

Y&R to air classic episodes
Thanks! I can't stand Bill which the writing does him no favors. A waste to kill of Brad and then create DD a crap role but he seems to enjoy Bill. I see the method of introducing a c story halfway through the episode with Olivia and Ashley...kept the tension going for me as they built up to Victor and Jack coming face to face. Were Ashley and I think this is Blade popular? Did Olivia's mother coming to live with her lead Nathan to have the affair? If so, brilliant planning there. Also forgot to mention it was nice seeing Lauren in business mode. I have watched since 2006-ish and NEVER realized she was actually running anything outside a small boutique. The cliffhanger was phenomenal. Y&R literally milks every moment. I would love to see the next episode in good quality. It is kind of sad that around 2014 I totally lost interest in the entire Newman family, Jack, Neil, Cane, Lily, etc. and would have been happy with a total reboot because seeing this classics..boy this show lost its way. I actually enjoyed the Rosales and Ana Hamilton arriving a year or so ago for this reason but then the show had changed the production and it still just did not feel right to me.

Was this the pinnacle of the background music? It was so atmospheric that even a small scene like Brad walking into Lauren's office had me on the edge of my seat. I wish this episode had been a three parter during the week with Victor's return at whatever party he threw, then this episode and then Jack vs. Victor. I don't know much about Brad....is Brad similiar to Bill from B&B at all?

This is so unfortunate. Did he not like being on the show? Did they ever do anything with AL's Colleen and JT? Did they have chemistry? I was half watching in 2006 and 2007 (mainly just interested in Davetta's Lily and Drucilla at the time as I was young) but once I got into the show in 2008 I was sad that AL and DS were gone as Colleen and Lily and replaced with zero energy actresses. I also read that in 2002 the show wanted to hone in on the AA audience. Did the failure to build up Damon, keep Shemar Moore on as Malcolm and all the Victoria Rowell gossip just lead them to drop it? I know by 2008 you only had Lily, Devon, Roxanne, Neil, Karen and Tyra on every Wednesday with zero depth. They wasted Tonya Lee Williams her last several years, let VR go, wasted the Harmony character, etc.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Almost caught up and still loving the Deveraux plot as Toby has just exposed his identity and called out Martine at Mitchell's birthday party and then the reveal that they were triplets and Toby and Celeste blowing out their birthday candles. I haven't liked any American storyline from start to reveal this much in years and the fact that a black family has more story over about a six month period on a thirty minute UK soap is insane but this is great and I cant wait to see where it goes.

Getting more caught up in the history again with the classics airing and have a few questions. Were there plans to make Raul a longterm character at all? I see they introduced a brother in Diego but he was not there long and then Brittany got involved with Bobby. I wonder how it would have been if JT and Raul were kept long term to at least maintain the YOUNG in the show. I was bored by Lily/Cane and JT with Victoria and boring Colleen by the time I got hooked in 2008. It sucks that both sets of the next generation with Mac/Billy and then Lily/Colleen got destroyed with recasts or bad casting or saddling Lily with an old man and playing her like a 40 year old. And was Damon Porter popular at all? I guess he was supposed to be the new Shemar Moore? I cant find ANY Y&R from the mid 2000s to watch but I am curious to see how Damon and Phyllis played...was there chemistry? Lastly are there any hidden 2000s playlists I can see?

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Anyone still watching? I am catching up from the fall and now in February. The climax to the Breda story was epic-the farmhouse and the fire and Tony's rescue and Mercedes and John Paul working together. I loved it. And now this Mitchell being outed and the Deveraux plot has to be my favorite. I am loving Toby and Celeste and the vibe they bring. Will be interested to see where Romeo and Celeste go. And I absolutely love Azim, he just left town and I hope he comes back. The Deverauxs, the Maaliks, McQueens and the Nightingales have to be my favorite families. Oh and Verity's arrival had me interested too. There has been a lot going on. I do actually wish they would trim the cast some. I cant keep up with whose coming and going and temporarily in a story lull. Only thing I am not enjoying is Diane (and I was one of the few who liked her) getting involved with Tony's dad and props to the show for playing Tony's PTSD. I wish the American soaps played on psychology like Hollyoaks does.

Y&R to air classic episodes
WOW! That episode was everything. I am officially willing to do anything to see more Lorie/Vanessa in high quality. I was glued to their screens. Was this Lance recast popular? I enjoyed the Nikki/Victor scenes and the comedy angle worked with I wasn't expecting and I did not know what to think of the April/Barbara twin story though I was still interested. I hope that if they only show classics featuring current characters that we at least get a Through the Years/Highlights package with top moments. I would love to see Phillip's death and Lorie being framed by Vanessa. Probably my top two.

Y&R to air classic episodes
Wow! The 1990 episode was phenomenal. I am stunned at how much was going on, the episode flew by and I would love to see more of this era I have largely ignored. I wouldn't have expected them to have the George Rawlins case and the Marge/Kay about to climax at the same time with David Kimble just getting started with Nina. The ending with Marge/Kay was great and the mood was everything for me. Cassandra is absolutely captivating, I wonder if Bell just lost interest in her after this? And I forgot his name...but Adrian Hunter actor seemed like a weak link with a different vibe than everyone else for me.

Y&R to air classic episodes
I would die if they did a gothic/horror week. I am more of a OLTL fan but Y&R exceeds at that film noir atmosphere and I am dying to see the Suzanne Lynch/Nikki and Paul in the cult, the dungeon, more of Eve/Julia/Nikki with Victor's first "death", the Norman Bates story and the Veronica story. Super excited for the 1981 episode and really really hope it has good Vanessa/Lorie scenes. I know there are edits on YouTube...but nothing in good qaulity available right? In fact they could probably do a Victor's Many Deaths week. Didn't he "die" in 1983, 1993, 1999 and somewhere in the 2000s and 2010s?

Thanks for responding! This is sad as it seems they had set up so much and lost steam fast. Outside of the cold medicine fiasco do you think it would have been a good idea to do Malcolm/Dru and Neil/Olivia since they didn't invest in any other characters. I guess they only tried with Dr. Stephanie Simmons and Keesha but Stephanie went no where from what I see (I'm trying to watch more 90s but still in the early 90s)

Seeing Nathan/Dru/Olivia/Neil in the 1991 episode got me wondering if Malcolm and Olivia were popular down the line? And does anyone think Dru and Neil were kept interesting post marriage? It seems like the quad lost momentum (I haven't seen these years, going by summaries) after the Keesha story and Malcolm and Olivia don't seem to have been kept together at all with any actual story.

DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
I just finished watching the Cruise of Deception summer. WOW. One of the best adventure stories I have ever seen on daytime. I loved the balance of the cast with Julie and Victor drawn in, the Jack/Jennifer angst (really made me a fan) and the romance between Hope/Bo and Roman/Isabella. I also really enjoyed Ernesto Toscano-probably a Stefano clone more or less but I thought he was fun. Outside of her ending up with Stefano, did they delve into Hope's missing years? I could honestly see Ernesto's "magic trick" working and they somehow escaped the whole time. As for the rest of the show around this time-I wish they did more with Carrie and Sarah, Maggie seems so much younger than Mickey, Emilio/Melissa/recast Kimberly/Nick, etc. do not draw me in at all and its nice to see DAYS attempting an interracial romance with Marcus and Carly.

Was Anita Santos still on the show in 2006? I'm rewatching the Mardi Gras Ball explosion and saw a nurse talking with Julia that seemed to be Anita but she was more like an extra. If it was Anita did they never try anything with her? And it is amazing how Reggie was treated like a background character at this point in the Montgomery family. Lily was given plenty of camera time and story with Jonathan throughout the ball while Reggie and Danielle were barely given anything to do aside from a quick camera pan.

I finally finished the Natalie in a well storyline and I love how Natalie feels betrayed and is through with Trevor and never wants to see him again. Usually with soaps they instantly reunite and move on. Natalie and Dimitri seem to be simple friends (so far) but I must say Trevor really grates as he disrespects Dimitri trying to get Nat back at Wildwind. With Natalie and Trevor being such a big couple I was also expecting a bigger "reunion" moment instead of him walking into her room at Wildwind. I was expecting a location sequence at the mansion or something spectacular. While I certainly consider Ron Carlivati hit/miss some of the elements to the conclusion reminded me of Ron's early OLTL- Timmy's random letter, Mimi's investigation, Natalie attempting to leave town on time and the slow build up. I love how it slowly involved a good portion of the cast. You never get umbrella stories like that anymore.

One Life to Live Tribute Thread
Was watching some past episodes from different eras of OLTL and it is amazing how much the show changed through the years with the exception of Viki and Buchanan's. August 1987- all in all the show was so good when it came to Clint/Viki/Tina/Cord/Maria but all the newbies just weren't working for me. Gabrielle was still a heroine and then the Sanders family was just blah. Wanda had a nice little story where she lost her diner to I guess the city and Judith Sanders helped stage a protest to help Wanda but a scene like that would have worked so much better with Larry, Viki and other written out characters like Carla, Ed, Jenny, etc. who would have known Wanda for years. I love the over the top Rauch era but I really wish he had maintained the diversity with different social classes and races. August 1992- my first time really getting into the Gottlieb years but the AIDS Quilt climax was some of the best episodes I have seen of OLTL. I finally see what people liked about Sloan & Viki and I wish Andrew had not become such an afterthought. Only thing I wasn't feeling in the 1992 episodes are Tina/Cain/Sarah but I was a big fan of Andrea Evans and Jensen Buchanan. And it is impressive how quickly they integrated the newer, more entertaining characters into Llanview. Rachel, Hank, Sheila, Marty, Jason just feel like they always belonged. November 2007- I did not realize at the time how much Carlivati did to improve the show between Viki being back at the forefront (I am loving Gigi, Moe, Noelle & Charlie) and the slight return to social conscious (Langston & the Cramer's facing the foster care system, Marcie on the run with drag queens & the New Orleans family) it is really a shame that outside of that I can only think of a few other times Carlivati kept this up (Rex having financial problems for medical bills around Christmas 2008, the beatbox gift for Shane was cheesy but I enjoyed it and the 2009 Kish story which I thought they over did with Dorian trying to marry a woman)

Started randomly watching some December 1995 episodes. It is so nice to see the Michael Delaney stories. While cheesy at times it is a simple, realistic storyline that brings together the whole community versus some convoluted mess. I wish we had more of that towards the end. Was this teen scene Anita/Bobby/Laura/Scott/Kevin popular? I do enjoy Scott/Anita/Kevin. Laura is okay at times and Bobby I completely do not like. Wasn't Kelsey part of this teen scene or was she older? Skipped on to the Cutting Edge climax where Laurel ends up dead. Did the seemingly sensational ending give the show a ratings bump out of curiosity? Or was the event spoiled prior to airing?
