  1. Viki & Clint Love story is now at the part of 1988 with Viki finding out she lost a year 25 years earler. it leads to Eterna and Megan. What did everyone think of this story? In this long clip, it has a cute scene of Viki in her old HS cheerleader uniform and then the reunion that was pretty interesting.

  2. You are so welcome! I love reminiscing about the early years of OLTL. Yes, Erika was thrown right into a front-burning plot, and what a gem it was. You can understand the confusion the actress must have felt initially, but Erika was box-office from day one.

Yes that and the fact that the actress Joanna Dorian who played Viki before her had just been let go the day before. I remember Erika saying she went into the stuidio and said she was playing Viki and everyone said "No you aren't!"

It looks like they are again throwing Viki into a big storyline...this time with Dorian and The Banner. I'm thrilled because The Banner hasn't really been apart of OLTL in years! Remember they had that one scene in 2010 with Viki and Tina that looked like an office they just put together. She hasn't really had any Banner storylines in maybe 10 years. The Banner was such a big part of Llanview history...Viki's history. it's where she met Joe and worked heavely with and against Clint before they married. They did several storylines at The Banner during their marriage in the 80's and early 90's. and the late 1990's when Mel Hayes, Kevin and Cassie all worked at The Banner with Viki and Clint. Dorian and Mel were married in the Banner "city room". who can forget the scene of Kevin walking into the Banner in 1999 and Viki was playing with her fuzzy dice with "girls just wanna have fun" playing on her stereo. but then in the mid 2000's, they pretty much dropped it. Viki would occasionally say she just came home from The Banner or that she was going but there were no scenes. They had Kevin working there for a while in 2003 but they dropped that pretty quickly.

  3. You know last summer i did not like KIm D from the RHONJ because she was always stirring up trouble, getting to know Faye, I miss the good old days. of Kim D. I think those two ladies need to switch cities. Faye seems much more into back-bitting and fighting. Have her go up against Theressa Gorga and see how tuff she is! Doubt she'd last five minutes in one of those fights! Acutally David Foster's ex wife Linda looked a lot like Kim D. Remember she was also Bruce Jenner's ex.

I love Yolanda and i hope she stayes another few seasons...maybe David will be on more next year.. I agree that Kim is always in the "poor me" stage of life. Like every episode this season she's been like that. If this is sober Kim, I don't think she's right for this show.

  4. suprisining statement from Erika Slezak in current in interview.

""And the Emmy winner says that also goes for Howarth, who is returning as Todd. “He is such an interesting actor,” she raves, adding that the first time they worked together back in the early 90′s, they quickly clicked. “I immediately assumed the role of the older sister [with things like] ‘Don’t play with your fork and knife!’ and ‘Put that down and listen to me!’ And he went with it immediately, and it established a wonderful relationship that unfortunately, I never had with Trevor [st. John]. Trevor didn’t want to play.”"""

  5. I wonder on which episode it was that Sadie Gray was first seen.

Oh if not the first episode, i bet it was the second. Remember the whole Carla/Clara storyline was in OLTL's first year and i beleive it was only a half hour show back then so it started pretty early on. Remnember they had to develope the two characters for a while first to make the impact of the storyline be more exciting.

  6. If the former instead of the latter, yes, Chapin was an actual character. He was played by the late Richard Nicholls, a fine English actor.

Thanks. So then was Ethel Crawford a real character from back then too? During Dorian's 1994 trial, they brought back Lee and Ethel Crawford. Soaps have been known to bring people "from the past" back to town who were never in the past to begin with.

  7. I know Barbara would never hire her but imagine Kathy Griffin taking Joy's place. You know she and Elizabeth would butt heads every day and Kathy would love it! I would love it too.

  8. You know i think at LLanfair, the carriage house and the garage apartment are two different places. I always thought it was just one place and they just called it Carriage house after a while because they redid it and changed it arund a little. But then again it's Llanfair so it's very possible that Viki had a garage apartment (Where David Renoldie was) and also a carriage house (where Rex and Gigi lived) farther away on the property.

Now i'm hoping that PP creates another room at Llanfair. Maybe a dinning room like Katherine's house on Young and Restless. For Llanfair, we've seen the library, the foyer, the sitting room, the sunroom and the kitchen. I always pictured Viki's dinning room having the wallpaper that the library had in the late 80's with the Flowery wallpaper.

  9. Its time for the show to get a bigger set I been in the studio and its small like hell. For one of ABC's most successful talk show they should invest in that. Plus Ali Wentworth should join the show.

You know it started as an old soap opera set. Aparently it was a set used on The City and they just changed it a little to put The View on it in August of 1997. Now of course it's all changed but it's still the same area.

The Elizabeth stuff i still think is just a rumor. I expect to hear more on Monday's show. It should be a big one since Joy should offically announce that she's leaving and i hope Barbara clears up the Elizabeth stuff.

  10. Thanks CarlD. it's always nice to see old photo's/articles that are from the distant past. Looks like Erika had either just started or was about to make her debute. I know Erika started on the show on St. Patrick's day March 17th (we used to celebrate every year.) But in Llanview time, i don't know how far along they were in the stories. She could have started in september/october i guess. In the caption of her with Bernie, it said, "Erika, who is making her daytime serial debute on OLTL"

Does anyone know when she actually started? I beleive they are at least a month in advance now so if it was March, she wouldn't have started until mid-April. but it could have been faster or slower back then.

  11. My top three. The rest I wasn't that crazy about. Joey Thrower was OK but mostly seemed a little whiny to me.

You want to talk whinny, what about Natalie. At least Joey had an excuse, he was playing Kevin as a young lovesick teenager. Natalie was in her 30's and always whinning about something...usually her endless obsession with John.

Well if this thing does become a sucess, i do hope they remember that Viki does have two grown sons who could easily come back to Llanview to be around for her so she doesn't have to lean on Natalie and Jessica who can both be self-centered often. I always hoped Kevin could come back and be Managing Editor of the Banner and they could do more love stories in the city room of him falling for an ace reporter and chasing down stories. Maybe with Viki as publisher, they could have her be more at The Banner too.

  12. Kirk Geiger

    Dan Gauthier

    Kevin Stapleton

    in that order.

Is that your Least (Kirk) to best (Kevin S.)

For me, besides Dan and Kevin S., I would perfer Joey Thrower. I know i'm going back and he was just a teen but i think did good things in the role and it would be kind of neat to see him come back and play Kevin again. Just like Jacob Young came back to play B&B's Rick Forrester.

  13. I think we're the only two BMH Joey people around.

I'm Nathan Fillion's Joey fan. I know he won't come back because he has castle but I really haven't met a good Joey since him. Maybe the'll hire a great Joey someday for the new show and he'll be the next best thing.

Which Kevin do you like? I really liked Kevin Stapleton. he was goodlooking and seemed to be able to go up against anybody from Todd to even his mother Viki. he and Viki had their battles at The Banner and especially when he started dating Cassie. He had a lot more chemestry with Cassie than Timothy Gibbs did.

My second favorite is Dan Gauthier and he seems to be the producers favorite too because they've kept bringing him back.

  14. Does anyone else remember the original Carlotta Vega (although she didn't go by that last name) in 1994. She was a little heavy and didn't speak much english. Nora had to talk to her about Dorian's trial. then in 1995 they to flesh Carlotta out so they hired Patricia Mauceri, gave her two sons, got her away from being Dorian's maid and gave her the diner.

  15. I remember when Kathy Breech was playing kittenish Karen. Larry left Llanview for a medical convention or something, and Lana dropped by to visit. She wanted to know how Karen would amuse herself in Larry's absence. Karen laughed and showed her friend a stash of marijuana, and they got stoned. On any other soap, this would have been a plot point to foreshadow Karen's impending addiction to drugs, but not under Russell. It was nothing more than simple, recreational use and was written to illustrate something about Karen's character rather than to set up a specific story. This is what I loved about Gordon Russell's writing and the vision of his One Life to Live.

Wow, I've never heard of that being done on soaps before. Now a character couldn't come on a soap and get stoned unless it was a big major storyline where they end up on other drugs and then rehab. I would have loved it if they had Viki doing that during her breast cancer. Todd brings over a joint and they have a good time for themselves one night.

  16. Anyway ... speaking of hot messes. Wasn't in the mood for my local news this morning so I wound up on OLTL on SoapNet. UGH. Worst time of course. Schuyler is waving a gun around at Gigi. Destiny and Dani are about to go head to head over a role or something. I can't remember. It was nice seeing Barbara Garrick and Ilene Kristen being amazing (Allison was telling Roxy her son, Schuyler, was alive). Oh. Kelly's looking ROUGH at John's, this was her return right? And I think we have Teen Jessica with Cristian and Natalie all up in on it. UGH UGH UGH.

That period burned me, not gonna lie.

For me, i'm not watching it right now. Just like originally, I didn't watch when Viki was away. Remember during this time Erika needed back surgery and was gone for a couple of weeks. The good thing about this is they show three episodes a day so I beleive Viki will be back on Friday.

  17. I wonder what Clint is going to be up to this time around though. He'll never stop being mean. We know that.

I don't know...at the end there he was pretty nice. Being with Viki again changed him. I admit that whole love fest with Rex and Robert was so phony but I hope they can continue making him good. If not he doesn't stand a chance of getting his lady back. Although they could do another "Viki/Todd story" with Clint where he's always doing crazy stuff and Viki's always making excuses for him and staying by his side. Who knows.

I just hope somebody is able to post Viki scenes on youtube because i don't have Itunes or hula or whatever it's suposed to be on. and i hope Soap digest goes back to writing for the shows again.

  18. He did a whole lot worse than that.

I just wish I could erase all those stories.

and of course choose Dorian over Viki and then expecting to have cofee with her the next morning was pretty dumb but Viki put him in his place.

then he beat Robert ford up "Mr. Black and Mr. Blue" but i don't remember other things he did wrong. he was only under house arrest because he confessed to murdering Eddie Ford when he found out Matthew did it.

  19. I am not too familiar with OLTL. What is the difference of characterization between Clint Richie's Clint and JvD's Clint?

Clint Ritchie's Clint was a hot head but bascially a good guy. he could loose his temper and be totally crazy but then be very loving too, especially to Viki and the boys (later Jessica). Then when the writers didn't want a lon standing couple on the show anymore, they turned him into an unsympathitic homophobe. After the divorce, he mellowed but it just didn't work.

JVD came on as a good guy at first but then after Nora left him, they turned him into Asa's junior. he did some pretty mean things like sending David to a mexican prison on his wedding day to Dorian and then switching the paternity tests of Jessica and Natalie's babies. but he paid for it. sort of. Living in Llanfair isn't exactly punnishment.

  20. I totally agree regarding Bo. Personally, I was never wild about the Buchanan family, but they were more tolerable when they stopped trying to be daytime's version of the Cartwrights.

I don't know who the Cartwrights are but from everything i read, the Buchanan's were suposed to be Daytime's version of the Ewings of Dallas. Remember this was 1980, right around the whole Who Shot JR. They brought in the Buchanan's from Texas and brought a little country-western into the show because Dallas was so popular. instead of Jock and his two boys, it was Asa and his two boys. Bo always reminded me of Bobby Ewing. He was always trying to do what was right. LIke in 1984 when he went to work for Lord Manning and was able to get Viki and the workers to work together. and of course all his years as the police commish.

Of course Clint didn't even come close to being a JR until decades later in the last few years of the show when he turned a little mean.
