  1. A lot of it sounds good except they really "missed the boat" with Cheers. The episode is not even a christmas one. Cheers did one real Christmas episode in 1987 with Sam trying to get a gift for Rebecca. Then they did one at the end of the season before in 1986 where Sam and Diane buy a house and decided to give the outgoing family one last Christmas. Both episodes were good. I'm sure they'll both be shown at some point on some channel.

Oh well, the rest looks good.

  2. Maybe having them divorce would have served the show and couple better. They reconciled quick and then she was dead a few months later. Would IMHO have better effect to have them divorce and she take Al with her

Would have given Al & Max more conflict years later

I don't think that's possible. Al is Gabriel's son. Luna could take Frankie and Leslie. I know Gabby was in prison but I don't think she gave up total custody of her son?

On the subject, that's another character they ruined. Gabriel Medina. When she came back to town as Asa's wife she was bitch on wheels! then she quickly changed and became Asa's victim. Then they turned her into a good girl and brought her to Bo. Then they killed her! LIke Jen Rapport, she was a sweet girl and then she went crazy and turned into evil bitch and then softend and became semi-good girl again. then they killed her. (see a pattern!) And it was both around the same time too...early 2000's.

  3. I know James Depavia said (maybe in one of the books or magazines) that he wasn't thrilled when they put Max and Luna together because Max was too domesticated with Luna and his son Al. Maybe he said something to the producers and next think you know Susan reads her script that says "i'm shot?" LOL

  4. Karen Witter never did another soap, did she?

What i didn't know until just recently was that she was married to Chuck Lorre for like a decade. He's the excutive producer of shows like Cybill, Dharma and Greg and Two and a half men. I jiust can't see the two of them together.

  5. Thank you!!! Yes, I remember reading that Joe Riley brought Clint to Llanview to run the paper after his passing, and wanted him to marry his soon-to-be widow, Viki - and that at their first meeting, neither Viki nor Clint were impressed with each other.

True but very quickly they came to an understanding. In fact, when Viki went into labor with Joey in 1980, Clint was over to talk and ended up bringing her to the hospital. Their romance didn';t start till much later.

My favorite Thanksgiving was 2008. They just opened Carlotta's diner and Charlie had it rebuilt to look like the boujour in Texas. Everyone was going through their problems they they all ended up going to the diner for dinner that day.

  6. Thank you for clarifying that. Personally, I can't even imagine Bo and Viki as a couple. But it is kind of ironic that they never even had a one night stand or anything in the 30-odd years they were in Llanview at the same time!! LOL

LOL I don't think Viki has one night stands. But i don't know if you remember the Niki storyline of 2002 (still trying to forget) but she went after Bo to make Ben jealous and they had all these scenes where they were almost flirting with each other. They even had a few "daydreams" of them together. I beleive they even shared a kiss in one of the dreams. But in all those years, that's as close as it got. Except for a breif time when she dumped clint for Sloan, Bo always thought of her as family and a very good friend. And she felt the same for him.

Now Viki and Asa are different. Erika even said she told Phil that she wishes Viki and Asa had a little fling but of course it never happend. It reminded me a little of Monica Quartermaine and Edward. They went toe to toe several times but they always respected each other. He did not like her when she dumped Clint for Sloan but they went toe to toe many times over the three decades they knew each other. and they also had many good scenes togeher where he could call her his favorite daughter in-law...even long after she and Clint split.

  7. I see! I'm surprised that neither Asa nor Bo ever went after Viki!! (Though I heard once that Bo was considered as a potential love interest for her early on.)

You heard right LOL. I beleive when Bo first came to town, he was suposed to be the love interest of Viki but Erika went on her (first) maturnity leave and they paired him with Pat Ashley. Viki had gone away with newborn Joey and Kevin. (It was Erika's second maturnity leave that they recasted the role.)

I don't think Asa and Clint shared women. Asa was very fond of both Viki and Nora but he hated Lindsey. Asa and Dorian had a deep affection for a breif time in the mid-80's. They had business dealings and i think went on a couple of dates but nothing really came of it. then she went off in 1987 and came back in 1990 declaring war on all Buchanan's.

  8. They didn't put Kelly into Kevin's orbit until Tim Gibbs played him, right? I always felt that was another case of JFP-propping.

Yes because when Kevin was played by Kevin Stapleton, he was in a hot and heavey affair with Cassie. Then when Tim came on, the Kevin Cassie relationship fizzled (they had no chemestry!) He came in 1998 and by 2000, he was in the triangle with Kelly and Joey.

  9. That's a good point. Also, most of the time Viki's kids (when there were just the three - Kevin, Joey and Jessica) really seemed united and got along most of the time. That was pretty refreshing, and Kevin Stapleton and Nathan Fillion actually looked enough like each other to really be brothers (kind of like Sean Kanan and Steve Burton on GH).

Yea, Joey and Kevin had that one big "breakup" over Kelly in the early 2000's but before that they really did get along very well. I love watching the two little kids on the "Viki Clint love story" because it was always Kevin and Joey together. and unlike a lot of soap children, you actually saw them more than once or twice a year. andn then with Jessica, she was featured more and more every year once Erin took over.

I still think it's so funny when you see Viki's trip to heaven and she sees a "flash foward" of her boys all grown up. they acted exactly like the Quartermaine boys did a few years when they were aged. Kevin was a big drinker and was fighting with Joey about how awful life was.

  10. How adorable was the then-10-year-old Erin Torpey here? smile.png

Yes she was cute. That was only her second year on the show. She started when she was (a very young looking) nine.

I still love how they didn't age Viki's kids that much. Erin was nine in 1990 but Jessica was suposed to be about five. Erin could have easily passed for seven or eight. not that much of a difference (compared to some.)

Same with Kevin and Joey. Yes they aged especially in the early 1990's but in the 80's, they were played by two young kids for most of the decade and then they aged about five years in 1990. Not that big of a leap. Especially Joey because Chris Mckennen looked young when he first came on in 1990.

  11. If Lee Patterson had stayed on the show instead of leaving in 1979, do you think Viki would have still turned into the star of the show? Back in the 70's, Viki was very different than she was later. She and Joe lived in that little cottage, he went to work while she stayed home with Kevin, very "normal" life. I know in one scene, she even talked about going to the grocery store and how she was a "whiz" at food shopping. If Joe had lived, I wonder if they would have just fadded into the background. Or maybe a producer would have broke them up like they did with her and Clint. I think Erika might have put up more of a fight if it was her and Lee Patterson breaking up after all those years of marriage.

When Joe died and they brought Clint on, they changed Viki. Even though she just had Joey, she went back to the Banner to work, then after she married Clint, she moved back into Llanfair and lived a very different life as the mistress of Llanfair. Then from 1985, she and Clint started having one big storyline after another. Niki Smith, time travel, trip to heaven, stroke, blindness....

  12. I recall reading in an SOD article from about a decade ago, Tuc Watkins said that he was delivering some serious monologue when, without watching where he was going, walked directly into a table. He said something along the lines of that's where the character clicked for him, and that David was a character "who thinks he's dark and mysterious but is really a buffoon".

OLTL was known for doing that. Look at Todd Manning. When he was on the show in the 1990's he was a very dark serious character. remember he even threw tea out in the snow one night. but one time when Roger left (one of many), they brought him back (i want to say 2002) as someone a little more dumb and comical. By then people just rolled their eyes and said there was no hope for him but they weren't afraid of him at all. Then of course he left for good and Trevor came on and changed then character back to someone a little more serious.

Now he's playing the same type of character on GH. Someone who used to be scary but now just comic releif where people just roll their eyes and don't know what to make of him.

  13. I watched it. I didn't like the chairs. I thought they should have been closer to the table. Other than that, i thought it was fine. I loved how Rosie O had to bring up the Woody Allen incident...knowing that Barbara would be watching and was on his side.

Who knows what's going to happen, it's only say one. Elizabeth and Rosie were very friendly on day one too and we know how that turned out. Once they get more relaxed with each other and get into more hot topics....we'll see.

  14. I'll watch the first episode but i doubt i'll watch many others. I don't even know these two other ladies and i'm not a huge Rosie fan. I think this little "new view" won't be lasting much longer than a year. Either Rosie will leave or Whoopie. I'd be suprised if both make it past this season.

  15. What I saw of Haddad on YT i liked her Cassie.

Grainger who i knew from Girls just wanan have fun seemed to much of a sex pot

    Never saw Cram as Cassie

    Laura was a great Cassie

Actually if you want to see Cram as Cassie, you should go to the Viki Clint Love story saga on youtube because she had a couple of scenes from when Viki evicted Dorian from Llanfair. I liked her as Cassie. She knew how to handle herself. She even told Viki off a little bit for evicting Dorian .They ended up having a real nice scene together.

All the Cassie's were different but obviously my favorite cassie was Laura Koffmen. She played crazy pretty well. She was OK in the early years with Andrew but i really liked her during her hot affiar with Kevin. They had real sexy almost racy scenes. A lot of it is on youtube. They were the hottest couple on the show for a breif time. Until they recasted Kevin. it went downhill from there.

  16. Who do you think was the worst Kevin and Joey? I liked all the Joey's but i'd have to say Don Jeffcoat. I liked him when he started but then his character got real dark. I think the whole show was dark during that time anyway.

As for Kevin, I'd have to say Tim Gibbs. It was also during that dark time. but i think it's mostly because he just wasn't right as Kevin. It's obvious he was brought in because Jill loved Another World and hired several AW actors for OLTL around this time. I just didn't think he fit. I really like Kevin Stapleton and i really liked Dan Gauthier so Tim was kind of in the middle of my two favorites.

  17. Speaking of Tina, I think it would have been nice if they kept Karen Witter until they could lure Andrea back. I thought she was a really good Tina. I don't think she could have pulled off the whole "Sleeping wityh my brother" storyline but i thought they really matured Tina when she was playing her. But she was still Tina, being torn between Cord and Cain and maiking mistakes because of it. I actually liked her and Cain.

Don't even get me started on her replacement, Krista. She almost ruined Tina. I'm sure she was just playing the role the way the producers wanted her to but she played her as such a bubble head. She had maybe a few rare good scenes but mostly she was useless. and the writers knew that because they bascially just fazed her out.

  18. Now I just finished RHOC reunion and it was pretty quiet. I think overall this season has been very mature and more similar to the early years than anything, so I'm not surprised the reunion is more tame. We had good discussions, but for the most part it was civil and there wasn't the need to rehash certain things over and over just for drama. I like that about the show. I think this reboot has been very successful and if there isn't much turnover they are in a good place for the next season. They REALLY lucked out with Shannon. I never expected her to be as popular as she was. I thought she was going to be the boring one in the background and that Lizzie was going to be the new face of the franchise. I'm sure that's what they hoped as well, for Lizzie AND Danielle. I think what actually ended up happening is better for the show in the long term. Shannon is closer in age to the other girls and has more in common with them.

I liked it too. I hope next season Vicki's "Storyline" is about buying Anderlay's (i know i spelt it wrong.) Her whole story this season was very low key. I really do not care of Lizzie comes back next season. I'd probably easily forget her. Who could forget Shannon. LOL

Does anybody else sort of see the world through Simon's eyes this season. Tamera was sneaky and a troublemaker. I do not think she's as innocent during this custody battle as she lets on.

  19. It was Atlantic City.

To this day, that scene has never been posted to YouTube, so I have yet to actually see it. .

I still remember how hot that scene was. They were just tearing the room apart....going at it. Maybe when the camera's stopped rolling, they just "finished up."

I'm suprised youtube hasn't aired it. I beleive they have the GH Carly Jason sex sessoins of ther 1990's and those were very hot. Maybe just nobody posted it yet.

  20. Had Jessica ever returned, I don't think she should have done it as another typical heroine. I think Natalie had supplanted her role as Viki's heir and rightly so, with a lot more fire. I would've liked to see a plagiarism/falsified journalism story play out with Jessica at the Banner.

That would have been fun...Viki grooming Jessica for The Banner. It would have been a full circle since the show started with Victor grooming Viki for The Banner. I am glad that they did bring Banner business back onto the show since it was so lacked in the show last several years.

The Banner had been the centeral focuss on the show for decades but then around the early 2000's they fazed it out. Occasionally they would have a scene of Viiki working there but then even that became very rare. I remember in the late 1990's, a lot of the stories came out of The Banner. Kevin worked there with Cassie. Mel Hayes worked there. Later Rae Cummings worked there. Viki and Ben sent ads to each other in The Banner when they first met. I was sad that they lacked storylines in the last years.

  21. I always did (and always will) want Erin back in the role of Jessica. But they would have to never mention the DID again, and/or eradicate it from existence. The character was completely destroyed by the end of the ABC run, which is why Natalie had become, over the last ten years, the more viable successor to Viki as show heroine than Jessica.

You know in my mind, i say that Viki sent Jessica to Switzerland to see Susanna Hanna, Viki's threapist.. That's why she wasn't in the PP episodes. Then when she's intergrated, she'll come back as Erin and all the DID stuff will be over for good. Viki was known to live without it for years and years. Between 1969 and 1985, Viki did not have a reoccurence (despite her eneimies trying to pull Niki out) and after she was intergrated in 1995, She was the one who pulled NIki out the first two times NIki came back.

  22. That whole Clint/Lindsay thing just seemed to come out of left field. Besides, didn't Clint Ritchie quit the show right around that same time? Why exactly DID he leave after almost 20 years on OLTL? That I don't know.

He did not like the way he charater was being protrayed. Ever since they broke up Viki and Clint, they really didn't give him that much to do. He tried a relationship with Carlotta and that failed. then they kept teasing the audiene that he and Viki might get back together but then that failed (a couple of timoes). and then the LIndsey thing didn't capture the audience. I think it was a mututal thing where he was tired of not getting jucy stories and they didn't really know what to do with the character. They did bring him back to the show several times before they recasted.

BTW, it became Clint's pattern. He married Lindsey because Viki refused his marriage proposal. 10 years later, he married Kim because Nora broke up their marriage to go back to Bo. As Nora said, "I have shoes older than her!" LOL

  23. I cringed when Jessica (still being played by Erin Torpey) was impregnated by her step-brother.

To me, it's not as icky as it sounds. It's not like they grew up together or were even "step siblings" for that long. Clint had a stupid affair with Lindsey Rapport and then married her for about '10 minutes' before he dumped her. Jessica and Will were friends and things happend. and she had only met Will maybe less than a year eariler. By the time Jessica lost the baby, Clint and Lindsey's marriage was long over.

Now if Roxanne turned out to be her mother and Jessica had an affair with Kevin or Joey (or even Cord), that would have been sick since they all grew up together.

It's not like when Mitch Laurence tried to rape her (Bree) so he would have a daughter with his "daughter".

  24. Yeah, she quit while the going was still somewhat good. Still, I wonder how she would have done playing the alters. I think Erin would've made it work. What do you all think?

Oh i am quite sure she would have done Tess very well. Watch this from the 4th of July 2001. Actually even though she wasn't Tess, i thought she did a better Tess than the version Bree did. I like Bree, i just thought they went totally overboard with her. She was either pregnant or splitting off into Tess (and the others.)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrMdocmq1W4

My thing is, if you want to see a great actress take on multiple personalties, watch Erika Slezak in 1995. if you want to see a soap opera actress take on multiple personalities, watch Bree in 2011.
