  1. Kind of off topic, but recalling all the various changes in Jessica's character over the last few years of the show (i.e. all the split personalities, her regression to teen-dom, etc), I often wonder if these changes would have occurred if Erin T. were still playing the part? Or if these storylines still would have been written, but played in a different way?

I recalled Erin T. played Jessica more like a townboy/ingenue type, and I recall the exact day Bree took over, that Jessica's mannerisms changed completely (yes, slightly more in your face.. but also noticed kind of a slutty undertone),

Erin hated the storylines they were giving her. That's why she left the show. that whole, "i don't know who my parents are" went on too long for her. Personally i admire her, she left at the right time because Jessica went from a nice strong girl from a good family to a basketcase who had several alteres and couldn't handle much of anything. The jessica that Erin played was pretty strong. She handled being resonsible for the fire at Llanfair in 1991, she handled her mother's DID in 1995 and then in 2002. and don't forget the big one, she had to deal with not only a teen pregnancy but then loosing her baby thanks to Dorian. All this withou turning into Tess.

I don't know if you remember the 4th of july episode where Lindsey was in prison and it ended up having many of the actresses "go to prison" and start singing. Well Erin was all dressed just like Tess would be. it was pretty funny at the time but later i realized this is how she might have played Tess.

  2. This OLTL snipped from, I guess, early 1996, broaches the topic that OLTL sadly dropped after Malone's firing - Viki dealing with the changes in her personality because of her alters being integrated.

I think this was a very lost opportunity, and I'm sorry that it was never properly addressed.

Yes, in 1986 they adressed it for a while and then dropped it too. After Viki took over from Niki, she was more loose and also more outgoing than she was before and Clint kept telling her that it sounded like Niki and Viki were becomming one. Of course back then they all thought NIki was dead and buried deep inside Viki. I just wish they would have kept her that way until 1995. it would have made a lot more sense but they brought NIki back in 1990 when Viki had her stroke and then breifly in 1991 when Carlo Hesser/Gabby Medina drugged Viki to be Niki.

  3. I hope they go through the final episode and then play some real classics, or at least 90s to early 2000s. Anything other than the past 10 years.

Unfortunitly i don't think so. If they were going to do that, they would have done it the first time. and they especially would have done it with All my Children.

I agree 2010 wasn't that great but the second half wasn't bad since it did have Echo which gave Viki and Dorian a chance to be more like "frienemies" and it had the cramer girls comming back for those few epiodes: Kelly Adrienna and Cassie. and then Kelly stayed for a while. and i'm in the minority who actually like the hot sex scenes between Langingston and Ford. and the 4th of july episode when Ford and David both showed up in that short tight "bathing suit" of the american flag.

The only thing i'm not looking forward to if the Jesisca looses her memory story. that sucked. Even as a teenager Jessica was not as stupid as she was when they did this story.

  4. Has anyone been watching the SoapNet repeats? If they still air them, I was wondering what month/year they were at now.

Soapnet just started 2010 (they did New Years Eve last night...the one where Dorian fired Bo and Kyle and Olver had their only "sex" scene.) looking back i see more clearly how there were more cracks in Viki's marriage than she or i wanted to beleive back then. Charlie's been drinking and lying to her about it. and we all know it gets much worse thanks to Mitch and Dorian. I wonder if they will be going to the final episode in 2011 and then stop or go back to 2006 again.

  5. I think Ted will be at JR's funeral and Valene will be on later to join him. I just hope they don't do another "Gary gets drunk and has to leave South Fork." We've already done that several times. Maybe they'll casually mention Knots Landing people, or at least how their twins are doing. They must be hitting 30 by now.

  6. I still think the show should have ended when Donna Mills left. She made the show the sucess of what it was. and if you notice, now in the flashbacks/specials or whatever, they pretty much only show the Donna Mills years (granted it's the bulk but they had a season before and four seasons after.) and she was the best looking woman of the 1980's. I guess it depends on your taste but i'm in the majority.

and they never gave her any silly stories like they did with Karen and (especially) Valene. even in the early years they had her almost remarry her exhusband because he was trying to keep her kids from her but she ended up getting out of that somehow and later said, "Nobody hurts me and gets away with it." she had a lot of great storylines like Olivia's drug problem and who killed Peter Holister. Remember when she burried him and her skirt hardly got dirty. and even at the end when everyone found out she was "morikime" the company who bought Lotus Point. She ended up getting on the stage and saying she would donate the land. great stories.

  7. It's a good thing she never met me, as I wasn't a fan of that Diana/Karen singalong either ph34r.png

I wasn't either. But i wasn't a big fan of most of the episodes in those early years. I just watched for Kenny. I hated how Richard turned Laura from a pretty nice lady in that first season into someone who was never very happy...not even when she was with Sumner did she seem that happy with her life. Richard destroyed her and then Karen welcomed him back with open arms for Laura's funeral. yuck! I agreed with Abby when she told him off.

I also hated when Diana was such a brat during the Chip era. You would think someone who had Karen as a mother and Sid as a father would have been a little smarter and less bratty. Michael had his moments but he was nothing like Diana. I still say she should have been the one killed with the pitch fork instead of Chip. Chip should have died when Lilimae ran him over.

  8. I think what Michelle said was right. Dallas and Dynasty were about "them" while Knots Landing was about "us." Knots Landing was about more regular people. Valene was a little crazy but Mac and Karen remind me a little of my neighbors. I think the reason it lasted so long was because while Dallas and Dynasty were getting all the applause, Knots Landing just kind of sailed through getting decent raitings.

the only thing i had a problem with The Talk segment was the clothes segement. I'm willing to bet you that none of those clothes were seen on the show. I watched the fashion pretty carefully. It was i think what they wore to events at the time (there is a photo of Donna in that dress going somewhere) but not on the show.

  9. Vicki being molested by her father for a period (I'm sure it lasted some time but I have no idea how long.)

It started when she was seven and went on until she went off to college. and then of course he found a new "girl" with Irene Manning, Viki's college roomate.

  10. Yes, thank you! I miss seeing her on my TV.

We all do. the Youtube clips from the past that i haven't seen before have been a comfort but sometimes i still miss making sure i record or be home to see if Viki's going to be on that day. Maybe we'll see her on TV in the New Year. It won't be the same as playing Viki but i wouldn't mind seeing Erika in something again. Maybe lifetime movies or something like that. Who knows maybe she'll go do theater again and we'll see her at the Tony's. Hell maybe she'll win a Tony.

If Prospect Park can't get Erika Slezak to join...i won't be watchingt and i highly doubt it will survive...if it ever comes together. Erika is smart so it's kind of like "Fool me once..." type things.

  11. It's nice that Todd cared for a split second, but generally I think the rape joke that is Connie and the way Todd behaves with her is more of a slap in the face to Viki, along with that book.

That book was probably written by Alison Perkins LOL. Even Todd said the book was trash and didn't even spell Viki's name right.

BTW, Erika Slezak's site has been updated with her christmas newsletter and annual christmas photo. it also has her thoughts of Paul Raunch's death.

  12. I beleive "Christina Comes Home for Christmas" was a OLTL reference too. I remember a few years ago thew whole town watched it and i beleive they kept showing one scene over and over and it was actually the front they use for Llanfair. Anyway this year they mentioned the DVD on GH. Elizabeth had it but that evil nurse stole it so she could watch it with Patrick.

Todd's family is only mentioned in the context of not forgiving him (even though Viki forgave far worse than "killing" Frodd). Viki's DID is turned into a joke because of a book Kate is reading.

I disagree. I did not see it that way. Viki's DID was mentioned not because of a book at first. When Todd came to town and found out that Kate had DID, Todd was pretty nice about it because of Viki. he even told Sonny about Viki and Jessica's condition. and when Kate said she was "cured", Todd said "Yea my sister thought she was too but she was wrong." I thought they handled it very nicely.

  13. Renee was mentioned on GH today. Merridith Vieria who had played a madame named Bree a few years ago came back to Gh now working for Lucy Coe (still as Bree). well they were talking about the nurses ball to bennifit AIDS and Merridith's character said she started out as as a nevada hooker working for a woman named Renee. we One Life fans know that Renee Devine started out as a madam in nevada.

remember MaryLynn Dennison's mother Lee also worked there and so did Emma Bradly...Spencer Truman's mother.

  14. According to Michael Malone, that indeed was the plan. Unfortunately, Clint Ritchie's accident and prolonged recovery altered the direction of the story.

Yes i heard that too but I still can't see more fans wanting a Viki/Sloan relationship than the ones rooting for Viki and Clint. I think they had no intention of getting them back together but because the fans were loud, they blamed his accident. and this is coming from a Viki and Sloan fan! LOL

  15. I always really liked Sloan and Viki together because she seemed so strong when she was with him. He seemed to bring out the very proper Lord in her. He was the stuffy general and with him she seemed a lot more like Jean Randolph than ever before. She seemed like the way she probably was when her father was alive before Joe Riley came into her life and brought her some fun.

but now watching the "Viki & Clint love story" clips on Youtube, i really understand why people hated him so much. I hear even Roy Thinnes's (Sloan) mother was like "Your not going to break up that marriage are you!" and he said, "I don't know. I just show up and read the lines." Viki and Clint had a lot of very good times during their 12 year marriage. a lot of bad ones too because Clint was a hot head but Viki seemed to know how to control him. if Paul Raunch had stayed on One Life, Viki and Clint would have never divorced. I was Linda Gottleb who decided to mess everything up.

  16. Clint should have died.

I have conflicting feelings about Jerry's version of Clint. On one hand i thought he did pretty good but I also think he could have come on as yet another one of Asa's long lost sons. He still could have had the storylines with Viki and Dorian but it wouldn't have been so out of character to turn him into someone even meanier than Asa. Jerry's a good actor and i do think he has chemestry with all his leading ladies (both One Life and Guiding Light) but i would have perfered him not to be Clint.

Now for the past six months watching all the early scenes of Clint Ritchie as Clint and his early years of marriage to Viki, i just think they should have kept him in London. that way when Ritchie died, they could have found out in Llanview and had a nice funeral for him filled with flashbacks of him with Asa, Bo, Viki and others who had scenes with him over the 29 years he was on the show.
