  1. Ryan's bar became Rodi's on OLTL

I'm not sure about that. I beleive Rodies was around in the early 1990's while Wanda's was around and I know for a fact Ryan's was Wanda's because it still looked just like Ryan's. It started out as Max's place in 1989 then Andy took it over (jake had his batchlor party there in 1991) and somehow it became Wanda's by 1992. When Wanda left in 1994, Jason took over until he left later that year. Unless they redid Rodies later on but they really would have had to destroy the bar because Rodies had a pool table. I don't think it was the same.

  2. I wonder if they are going to have Alexis and Sam go to "Ryan's bar." It would be interesting to see how they would recreat the bar. As far as i know, the bar was torn down almost two decades ago. AFter Ryan's went off, OLTL won the bar and it became a few resturants in town from 1989 until 1994. But then i think they stopped using it when Jason Webb left in 1994.

  3. I just found out that OK! magazine had like 12 photo's of Erika Slezak from her early days just last month. I went to the site and couldn't see them. Did anyone save them or know of on another place else i could see them. i think they were pretty vintage.

Never mind, i went on another computer and i saw them.

  5. Dorian had young Dan Wolek before Joey, apparently. Who'd have thought?

You know i did see a scene or two of them together but i didn't think they actually had an affair?

God Dorian was the ultimate cougar before they coined the word! And to think she started off as Victor Lord's young wife.

  6. I believe someone else later on did plan for Drew and Nora - HBS talked about it in an interview around the time JFP came aboard - but it got scuttled.

Thank god! It would probably turn into a "Dorian and Joey" all over again (just not as good). They did a lot of that Older woman, younger man stuff on the show. Dorian had Jon Russell, Jason Webb, Joey, David. Alex had Ty (played by Casper Van Dein.) Viki had Ben. Nora had Troy. Blair and Christian Vega.and i'm sure there were several others in the long history of the show.

I guess they had Asa to do the older man younger woman population. Most of his wives were younger than him (except maybe Renee.) They they did Clint with Kimberly.I think Viki might have been the first. Joe Riley was a little older. I don't think the older man, younger woman went over too well. At least in Llanview (I know on other shows it's all over the place. Especially Bold and Beutiful) But i could be forgetting a whole bunch of older men younger woman parings.

  7. Last night they showed an old movie from the 1950's with Rock Hudson and Jane Wymen called "All that heaven allows." I swear that the set designer for OLTL's Llanfair Foyer 1991 (After Jessica set the fire and the foyer was completely turned around), must have loved that movie. I mean the staircase was the same with the landing and then the other small set of stairs going up (just a little different color), there was a chandiler in the right place, mirror on the wall was in the right place with a little table under it, the door to the coats was in the right place and the floor tiles were the black and white like at Llanfair. They even came in from the same way (the side.) It was amazing!

  8. It's always amazing how just when you think the show is dead and they cannot possibly recover, and then over time things catch on; the new cast gets their groove, they create new hilarious characters, and the show produces a new crop of Hollywood big names.

I think Tina Faye hosting helped this season. I'm still not comfortble with all the new cast but i'm sure i will be by the end of the season. I bet many of the featured players will become full cast members next season.

I think Cecily Strong is hilarious and I'm sure she'll do fine as the new weekend co-host. She hasn't been on that long, but she's already had me laughing over some of her characters (like the Girl You Don't Want to Talk To At A Party, and the Moet & Chandon Champagne porn girl). My only gripe over who does the Weekend Update hosting is that it means they no longer appears in skits. I always enjoyed Seth Meyers in skits, but once he became Update host, you never saw him in skits again.

I didn't catch on that when you fo Weekend Update you don't get sketches anymore. but now that you said it, it's true. Even back in the Dennis Miller days. I don't remember him doing sketches, he was just the anchor. I hope they make an exception with her. I beleive they are setting up for her to be the first woman sole host of the anchor desk. I know Lorne wants Seth to stay until the end of the season but I think he'll be too busy in January starting his new show.

  9. I was reading an old magazine from around 1985, and Margaret Reed (Shannon O'Hara on ATWT) said that when she started on the show earlier that year, someone told her to watch Erika Slezak to learn how to act on soaps. She said that because she was from the theater, she kept moving her hands and arms while she was acting. The person told her, "Erika's been on for 15 years and she never moves her arms!"

Funny because we know when Erika first started out in 1971, she was exactly the way this Margaret must have been. Erika came from theater so she was used to doing the big grand performances and moving all around. Someone had to tell her to stop it because she kept moving out of the "frame." Erika also i guess had a loud projective voice (because she was used to talking for the people in the back row of the theater) and the audio guys were going nuts because she had a microphone and didn't need to speak that loud. LOL it's just something you have to learn.

  10. I dont' know why anybody hasn't done one before (maybe it's too far in the past to find) but Saturday Night Live has been a Saturday night tradition in my family since it begand (long before i was born). It's starting it's 39th season tonight with all new cast members because several of the old ones left.

I started watching back in the 1980's. iut was a weekend so i didn't have a bedtime. I remember Church Chat and Dennis Miller doing the news. I've watched a lot of it ever since. it all depends on the guest. If it's a good guest, someone i know then i'll watch the whole thing, if not, i'll usually just watch up until the end of the "news" part. I especially love during election years going back to when Bill Clinton was played by Phil Hartmen.

Besides the history, i'm looking forward to how the new cast is going to do. Who's going to take over for Seth Meyers when he goes to Late Night, what will be the better guests this season.

  11. I was watching the Emmys with my grandparents the night Erika won in that red dress. I can still hear my grandmother saying, "Well I feel sorry for that Erika Slezak", because after she left the stage, Susan Lucci (who was co-hosting) returned to stage to present the next award, and the cast of AMC rose to their feet and started chanting, "LOOCH! LOOCH! LOOCH! LOOCH!" Susan got all choked up and she thanked them and added that she votes for Erika every year. So gracious. That was also the year that Julia Barr won for supporting and said to her daughter Ally at home, "Yes, Mommy won the Enemy award."

I used to have that scene of Susan on a DVD and you can almost see Phil Donau roll his eyes when she said that. He was more of a Susan fan. Then he had her on his show with other AMC members i think the next week or so and reshowed that scene, I beleive he cut it off just when she was going to speak.

It's wonderful that Erika won all six emmy's, but she went through hell getting them. She'd get minimal applause and then she'd go into the press room and the only questions they'd want to know was, "So you beat Susan again...do you think she'l ever get that emmy" very sad because Erika deserved to win every single time she was nominated.

  12. I love those old pictures of Erika. The one i hadn't seen before was her standing outside the studio. given the hair and fake eyelashes, i bet that was from around the early 1970's. very pretty in all of them, except Niki in the first horrible wig (that never made it on the air.)

  13. Danielle tweeted she will be on WWHL on September 8!!

Oh good i hope so. I want to know if she and Jaclyn are still friendly. I know Dina Manzo will be on the season final Oprah "Where are they now" this sunday. Weird but true.

Side note, does anyone know when or if Vanderpump Rules will be back? Do we have to wait till January?

  14. Her mother clearly has a lot of mental issues, first of all, how bri turned out as normal as she did is shocking.

I don't think anything was wrong with how she treated Vicki ESP re brooks and the house. Her mother and this man had an affair that lead to the end of her parents marriage. I think it's very valid for her to not want this shady com man with her mother or coming into her fathers for,ER home. I don't think she takes glee in Vicki's pain I just think she has to be blunt and straightforward for Vicki to get anything and the moment she starts to show that she feels bad vicki will take it as she changed her mind. And considering her piece of [!@#$%^&*] mother defended her boyfriend telling Ryan that he should beat Brianna and Vicki both I don't blame her at all for not comforting her.

Just to clearfy, Don was not Bri's father. I don't know how old Bri was when Vicki married Don but that was her second marriage. Bri's father was in one of the first season episodes because Vicki invited him to Bri's graduation.

On a lighter note, I liked how Tamra shocked everyone when she said SImon was at the wedding and then said, "Yea, he was on the balcony with a shot gun." She was joking of course but it looked like Gretchen beleived it, even though she was at the wedding herself! LOL. I would have been fun to see Simon on this wedding thing Bravo is doing. I think there is something in their divorce that says she can't have her kids on the real housewives. I actually agree with that because they are too young.

  15. First, i am in no way won't defend Brooks. but it seems it's OK for Brianna to say all these things about what Brooke's said and done but whenever anybody talks about the major hothead and borderline abuser that her husband has shown, it's "Oh no i won't talk about my husband.he's been under a lot of stress." I think she's a lot more like Vicki than she wants to admit. Vicki allegedley was abused in some way by Don and her first husband and now Brooks. At least that';s what Brianna would happily tell people but her husband can go crazy on whoever he wants and it's OK because he's a solger and he's been under a lot of stress. Sounds like an abusive wife sticking up for her husband. just the same pattern but she's telling her mother, "break it!"

  16. BH's Taylor is now engaged... and one of the pics shows a crew member, so I wonder if it'll make Season 4:

    http://www.eonline.com/news/451893/real-housewives-of-beverly-hills-star-taylor-armstrong-engaged-to-john-bluher-see-the-romantic-pics

I bet this is just her trying to stay on the show. I mean last season she was hardly on. I didn't think she really had a reason to be there. It was all about Adrianne Maloff's break up, Kim's soberity and the "fight" between Kyle and Lisa. and also pushing the new Mrs. Foster into the mix.

I don't think season 4 has started recording yet. Maybe... I know the season usually starts at the begining of the year.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it usually

    Winter: Atlanta, Beverly Hills

    Summer: OC, Jersey

    Fall: Miami, NY

  17. I don't understand why the girls were so upset when Gretchen didn't invite them to her engagement party. I mean at the time Tamra was starting to turn on her, Alexis was calling her a bully, and Heather was calling her a liar for that stupid Mailbu Country thing. She never got along with Viki and she didn't know Lydia that well. I wouldn't have invited them either! It would have been funny if she only invited Lauri! that would have pissed them off more, especially Viki.

  18. This week is the final week. On friday (the pretaped show), Joy is leaving. I have a feeling they are going to do what they did back in 2006 when both Merridith and Star left, they brought in Rosie to replace Merri but then they had a rotating list of guest hosts for the other chair. From what Barbara said, I have a feeling that is what will happen all this new season (starting in September). Then if they come back for the next season after that (2014-2015), they might replace that chair permantly.

I wonder if Barbara is really going to give up the View. I bet she'll be working behind the scenes. This is a woman who's worked for the past 50 years. When she started on the View in 1997, she was also doing 20/20, and she was doing three or four specials in one year. She wasn't young then either. They brought Joy on to fill a "chair" on the days Barbara was off but then she got good reviews and they made her full time.

  19. The first season wasn't too bad but it seemed there was a lot more stories about the kids and not the housewives together. of course it was a small season too. I'm looking forward to seeing various episodes from all the other seasons next week and the week after. I couldn't beleive how different Slade was. He was the 'sugar daddy" to Jo and wanted her to be a regular housewife. he was also more involved with his kids. Far cry from the last couple of seasons where he's been in debt and allegdy had problems with child support and everything else. Vicki doesn't seem to have changed that much. Her face is a little rounder (in present) but it's the same ol' Vicki, just with Don and not Brooks. It's interesting that she started off as a housewife with her first husband and then started her own company. Back then...like now she still tries to control everything.

  20. Just a heads up to Real Housewives of OC fans, starting tomorrow June 14th, they are going back and showing episodes from the eariler seasons. Tomorrow starts season 1 and it will continue until the big 100th episode anniversary in a couple of weeks. Just weekdays though, i don't think they are doing it during this weekend.

  21. Watching the Viki finding megan story on the "Clint & Viki love story" just gave me a horrible thought. What if Victor earsed her memory...not letting Viki remember she was even pregnant with a child because in the back of his mind he thought maybe the child was his! and that's when he stopped abusing her.
