  1. LOL at Nina and Esther bar-hopping. And its weird that a year later, Nina was terrible to Esther when she hired her as her maid. So Marc was struck in between Nikki and Joanna? Its interesting that they didn't make some sort of triangle with him and those two (unless they kind of did later). That scene were Nina falls on the ice is actually on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nslm8u9JT98&feature=channel_video_title LOL at Esther: "It looked like he was undressing me with his eyes"
  2. Synopses from May 29, 1990 SOD Covering Late April/Early May 1990. AN OFFER JACK CAN'T REFUSE? Brad faces the toughest challenge of his career- selling Leanna Love as Jabot's new spokesperson. The boards members are won over by Leanna, but not Ashley. She'll never give her approval, Ashley warns Brad. QUICK SALE: Having sold Chancellor Industries to the first bidder, Marge puts Kay's estate on the market. She instructs the realtor to dump the mansion quickly. The place holds to many memories, Marge explains to Brock. Baffled by his mother's actions, Brock seeks help from Dr. Furney. The bottle is the only explanation for all the changes his mother is making, Brock decides. ESTHER'S BIG CHANCE: Esther is rushed to the hospital with stomach pains. Scott insists she be admitted for testing, but Lil says no way. Esther has no insurance or money, Lil says. Brock catches a glimpse of Esther as he leaves Dr. Furney's office and volunteers to cover the cost of her medical bills. Esther is filled with hope, but Lil warns her to keep her yap shut- or the real Kay is history. MARGE ALMOST BLOWS IT: Marge is so anxious to unload the Chancellor Estate she almost destroys her cover when she welcomes Nina, a potential buyer, with open arms. Nina and Chase are thrown by the friendly greeting. LAUREN HAS A LOT TO HANDLE: Still reeling from the news of her pregnancy, Lauren is upset when Scott announces that he's decided to accept the out-of town residency. As soon as she's alone, Lauren dissolves into tears. TWO FOR THE ROAD: When Jeff turns out to be Skylar's natural father, Carol flees with the baby. Skip tracks her down to a Milwaukee motel. Nan's thrilled when Jeff says he'll stand by her decision to revoke the adoption. MARITAL BED A BUST: Jack is humiliated when he can't perform in bed with Nikki. Unknown to Jack, Miguel has been spiking his food with saltpeter, per Victor's instructions. Jill wishes Rex hadn't signed a prenuptial agreement with Kay, but concedes that even penniless, he has plenty of sex appeal. After years of friendship, they finally give in to the passion that has always existed between them. KAY CAN'T PHONE HOME: Kay convinces Morey that she must phone the hospitalized Esther. He places the call, but Brock is on hand when the call goes through. Lil pulls the phone wire out of the wall before Brock gets a chance to speak to Kay. Esther needs her est, Lil tells Brock. Suspicious of all the peculiar goings-on, Brock persuades Scott to keep Esther hospitalized a while longer. OOPS, DUMP IDEA: Anxious to raise her son in the house she shared with his father, Nina goes to the Chancellor Estate with a check in hand. However, she's forced to scrap her dream when she hears Phillip speaking out to her. The house holds too many painful memories, she admits to Cricket. As Chase comforts a disappointed Nina, David watches them through binoculars. from across the street. TRADING PLACES: Victor offers Jack a deal. Leave Nikki and the kids, and Jabot will be returned to the Abbotts. Jack has twenty-four hours to decide. Jack confides to Leanna that Victor has taken the bait- the Abbotts will once again have what is rightfully theirs. Leanna is shocked that Jack would trade Nikki for a company. Not just any company, Jack tries to explain. Jabot is the company his father built and then lost, because of his son's stupidity. Positive that Jack will toss Nikki aside for shares of stock, Victor rushes to be with his family. Nikki declines her ex's dinner invitation. She has a husband now, she reminds Victor. Jack returns home to a loving bride. She tells him about her strange visit from Victor, suspecting he's up to something. Jack shows her the agreement that Victor presented to him earlier. Nikki flies into a rage. She can't believe the lengths Victor would go to to manipulate her life. What kind of man would trade a wife and kids like commodities? she fumes. Jack holds his tongue. HERE COMES TROUBLE: Streetwise Nathan finds himself the victim of a pickpocket. He sketches a picture of the girl and vows to locate her. Meanwhile, when Nathan's wallet proves practically worthless, Drucilla pays a call to her long- lost Aunt Mamie for a handout. NOT A GOOD IDEA: Paul convinces a reluctant Cassandra to join him for a night on the town. Just as the expected, people won't ignore their highly publicized past. Paul decks a man at Top of the Tower, who congratulates them for pulling off a scam. Other patrons stare at the infamous couple. A crying Cassie runs from the room.
  3. Its a shame they got rid of Leanna in late 1991/early 1992. I always enjoy all of her scenes with Rex, and her crazy door with all of those signs was funny too. It was funny that Nikki pretty much gave Leanna all that info on the ruthless story, Nikki sure did have a big mouth back then. That pisses me off that Victor went to tell off Jim about him dumping Nikki for Jessica, Its not covered on the pages, but i hope Victor realized it was only because Jessica was dying. Victor really comes off as a bigger prick than he is now in 1988-1989. Unless its just how it is written and u would had to have scene the actual scenes, Jill comes off as a bigger Bitch as well during this time.
  4. Thank you sooo much for posting all of these Carl! They are really fun to read and its fun learning about stuff that i wasn't aware of on the show. Man, Phillip really comes off as a jerk when i read this. I feel more sorry for Nina for all the hell he, plus Katherine and Jill put on her during her pregnancy. This is the reason i think some good came back from that "I'm back from the dead, and I'm Gay" crap. And that's, that Nina really tore him apart remember: "OHH U ARE SO FULL OF CRAP!" I liked reading about the Victor and Lauren stuff, It's too bad that Lauren didn't really seem to have more to do with Victor during her final stint in the 90's and of course now. The Jack/Leanna writing the ruthless book sounds like it was fun too, Victor really deserved that. I'm starting to get convinced that Lisa was like the original idea for Sheila, only done with Brad. I love Sheila, but i think Lisa seemed more nuttier than she was. It seemed cruel how she kept Brad in that cage, especially when i read the part about him breaking down. Wasn't Rebecca Harper the woman who David Kimble was married to before he came to Genoa City? Is that the same woman, or did they just steal the name? Anyways great stuff Carl, hope you can post more, and i will continue to post mine of course.
  5. B&B Synopses Section (March 5, 1991 SOD) Covering the weeks of February 4-8/11-15 1991. Felicia arrives at Brooke and Eric's condo, desperate to explain things to her father. She tells Brooke that she'd never have accepted the job offer with Sally if she'd known Eric was going to make a similar offer. Brooke understands, but when Ridge drops by, he angrily informs his younger sister that she's merely being used by Sally in her war against Stephanie and forbids her to work with Spectra. NO ESCAPE: Felicia asks Storm for his legal expertise regarding her dilemma. If Sally leaked their deal to the press, Felicia asks, would that make the contract invalid? Yes, says Storm, be he's under the impression that it wasn't Spectra who leaked it, so the contract is airtight. The Young designer will be forced to honor her commitment. Meanwhile, Eric makes a personal appeal to Sally to release Felicia. She adamantly refuses. Eric is livid and vows that Felicia will never work for her. JULIE HATCHES A PLAN: Julie makes an appointment with Sally. When Clarke hears of it, his heart sinks. Ms. Delorean arrives and requests that her meeting with Sally be private. Despite his fear that Julie will betray him to Sally, a panicky Clarke has no alternative but to leave them alone in the office. Julie lies, telling Sally that she has a husband and that the two of them feel the real story is about Sally Spectra Garrison and want to write a book about her. Sally is relieved to hear Julie is married and thrilled to be the subject of a book. STREET RULES: Stranded on the streets after her mild stroke, a confused Stephanie Forrester is learning about survival from her new friend, Ruthanne. She's aghast at the living conditions in the condemned hotel. Ruthanne's offer of dinner (canned baked beans) and accommodations ( a filthy mattress on the floor) reduces Stephanie to tears, but her alternative is a park bench, so Mrs. Forrester. grits her teeth and settles down for the night. Next morning after little sleep, Stephanie tells Ruthanne she could never learn to live like this. Why doesn't she look for a job? the wealthy woman inquires of her protector. What would she wear to a job interview? Ruthanne laughs bitterly, attempting to explain to Stephanie how life on the streets is about survival: finding your next meal, keeping warm. Ruthanne suggests they go to the police, but Stephanie doesn't understand why. Ruthanne's getting tired of Stephanie's confusion and lack of gratitude and begins to leave. Mrs. Forrester panics and begs Ruthanne not to leave her alone. TINKLE,TINKLE: Jake is again beginning to question himself: Did he just imagine his childhood sexual abuse at the hands of his father? He confides his doubts to Margo, who finds it difficult to believe that Jake isn't sure about what happened. She invites him and Felicia to a nice dinner with her and Bill, and Jake thinks it's a great idea, until the tinkling sound that periodically torments him returns. It's starting to drive him crazy. He rushes from the room, telling Margo that he must go see someone. Jake barges into Dr. Hayes office and insists on speaking to her, He tells Taylor that he's afraid he's losing his mind and describes the tinkling sounds he hears. She suspects his auditory hallucinations are related to sexual abuse. She assures him he didn't simply imagine the abuse, and Jake decides to go home and resolve this issue once and for all. WEIRD SCIENCE: Eric discovers Brooke conducting an experiment at home in a quest to make cloth diapers waterproof. Her husband is impressed and when Brooke says she misses working at the hospital, Eric suggests they build a lab for her at Forrester. She's thrilled. BACK AT SPECTRA: Felicia's feeling gloomy about working at Spectra, but Sally warns her that she'd better put her heart into her designs because Felicia's reputation is on the line. Later, Felicia tries again to avoid the inevitable, asking Macy to help her get out of the contract with Sally. Later, Ridge tries to involve Thorne in Felicia's problem. Can't he speak to Sally? As her son-in-law, Ridge notes, he must have some influence over her decisions. DON'T LEAVE ME: Stephanie and Ruthanne got to the police, but they're too busy to be of much help to the two homeless women and suggest the unlikely duo contact Social Services. Stephanie's upset but Ruthanne promises not to abandon her. JUST FRIENDS?: Clarke's upset with Julie for planning a book on Sally. Julie says she knows it's over between them but she hopes they can still be friends. Then she embraces the ambitious designer, kissing him passionately. Clarke finds that he can't help but respond with the same fervor.
  6. Thanks fine , I can't wait to read them, thanks for doing this carl, I will continue to post mine as well, How do you scan these articles so the picture from the magazine actually appears on here? do you need a scanner?
  7. Do you think you could post all of them? Just take your time. I'm really curious about those two years.
  8. Yes, The first week of June 1991 is covered, in the June 25 1991 SOD. I have that one, and i will post the recaps soon. So the ones from July 9, 23, August 6, September 3, September 17 1991 are the SODS you should look for. ( i skipped August 20, cause i have that one and will post that synoposes too.) I really think that miscarriage happen many months before that story reached its peak, so i think Tracey did not have to really play those scenes that much. I think she got pregnant again soon after. She was still pregnant when she gave birth to Scotty on the show, so i wonder how that must have felt in preperation of her real pregnancy. Did u see caryn richmond as Lauren when Tracey was on paternity leave? I'm curious to know what she was like.
  9. Thanks Carl! I have quite a few old synopses to post, I will just add the rest from my collection to Y&R/B&B Even though there are those google archieved message boards. These SOD recaps are good for getting right to the points when recapping stories. I would love to see that letter opener scene with Katherine and Clint. She must have remembered that she used that knife on Suzanne 12 years earlier LOL. It still baffles me how Sheila/Lauren seemed liked to were only pregnant for like 4-5 months on the show. A little far fetched, but oh well.... Do you have any synoposes from June/July/August 1991. I don't really know much about those months on Y&R. Also do you have any from 1988-1989?
  10. Y&R Synopses Section from March 5, 1991 SOD. (Covering the weeks of February 4-8/11-15 1991) Anxious to purge Jabot of "golden boy" Brad, Jack joins forces with Cassandra. She'll stop at nothing to get her new husband to take the helm at Ra-Tech, and suggests Jack make a bid for Brad's position at Newman Enterprises. She and Brad run into each other on their way home from Vegas and compare notes. Brad is disheartened to learn that that he was a willing participant in the wedding ceremony. Traci informs him that his divorce decree was on file with the Vegas County clerk. That's impossible he declares- he wasn't carrying it when he left for Aspen. He confronts Cassie, who tearfully acknowledges setting the trap. Brad bids his bride farewell. SNOOPING MOM: Mary pays her ex-daughter-in-law a visit and is horrified to note her protruding belly. Fearing the worst, she rushes to Paul. He breaches Lauren's trust by revealing the baby's paternity to his worried mother. HEARTBREAK: During a day out with Scott, Sheila experiences labor pains. She quickly checks herself into a hospital- not Genoa City Memorial. Her baby is stillborn. CALL HIM DAD: Diane is fit to be tied when David informs her that the adoption is going through. She intercept's Nina's call and destroys her message. Seeking out Nina, she dotes on the baby. Nina invites her to join them for lunch. IT'S PATHETIC: Rex threatens to tear Clint apart if he comes near Gina. Clint decides it's time to hit the road, but Gina begs him to stay. If he goes, she goes, Gina cries. DRU'S MOVE: Pretending she has a new boyfriend with a passion for slow-dancing, Drucilla tricks Nathan into teaching her the right steps. Olivia knows just what her little sister is up to. Hoping to expose David's investment company as bogus, Danny gives the con man ten thousand dollars to invest. Smelling a rat David tries to refuse the money but Danny won't take "no" for an answer. What's a few thousand bucks when you're investing in a friendship? Danny cajoles. Besides, he adds, Cricket and Nina would love for their husbands to bury the hatchet. DAVID'S PLAN BACKFIRES: Impatient to get his plan in motion, David hires another attorney to push the adoption through the courts, Cricket gets the new man to drop the case. David flips when Jay tells him he has to bail out-he knows something's up now. Facing up to her doubts about David, Nina bites the bullet and buys a gun. David feels the noose tightening when Diane announces that she's on to his plan. She knows Nina's son is a Chancellor, and can't wait to get her hands on all that money so she and David can start living the high life. BAD TIMING: Gung-ho on stealing Brad's job, Jack tries to sell Victor on the idea. Unfortunately, Brad tells Victor he's leaving Cassie, not Newman Enterprises. Jack says Brad may think he's at Newman to stay, but he's leaving his hat in the ring anyway. Pick the best man, not boy, Jack advises Victor. Ashley is amazed when Victor reveals a condition Jack placed on his joining Newman. He requested that upon Victor's death, control of Jabot return to an Abbott. Of course, Victor tells his wife, he'll leave the company to her. PADDING THE TRUTH: Sheila realizes that without her baby, she's got to take desperate measures to hold on to Scott. She returns to Scott's research lab wearing a pregnancy pad. SISTERLY LOVE: Drucilla implores Madame to mold her into a prima ballerina in three months or she'll lose Nathan for good. When Olivia confronts Drucilla about Nathan's dance lessons, underdog Drucilla revels in her big sister's insecurity. Backed into a corner by Olivia, Nathan demands to meet Drucilla's supposed slow-dancing boyfriend. Afraid of losing his trust, Dru takes the dare. KAY'S NIGHTMARE: As the month rolls on, Kay is reminded of all the joy and sorrow that the past year brought her. It was a year ago that she married Rex, and a year since Clint robbed her of all she loved. She enters Gina's office hoping to commiserate with someone else whose life was altered by that awful man, and finds herself face-to-face with the enemy. She lunges for a letter opener and is about to use it, when Gina rushes in and retrieves the weapon. Kay is horrified to learn that Gina has been harboring this criminal. Gina professes her undying love for Clint and pleads with Kay not to betray them. Kay manages to Keep quiet when Rex appears.
  11. Thanks for telling me this, It's good to know certain facts i wasn't really aware of I do recall there was a scene on youtube from around early 1997 (around the time Sharon was giving birth to Noah) where Victor is in a meeting with Jack Jill and Keith, and IMO one of the greatest Victor scenes of all time, blasts the hell out of all three of them, and then gets a call from Nikki about Sharon being in labor and leaves. I remember thinking it was great to see him give it to Keith who from what i seen seemed like a real jerk (especially to Ryan, though Ryan probably deserved his hatred,) however i think Keith was just sitting there smirking the whole time. The Jill/Keith stuff is pretty non-exsistant on youtube too. Again the only scenes i have really scene of Keith are of him blasting Ryan etc... But again that Victor scenes is probably one of my favorites, i believe that was the scene that won Eric an emmy in 1998.
  12. Yes, Don was out sick for about 2 weeks, so thats why they had a temp replacement. I'm so mad at the fact that the only classic episode they showed during the holidays in the spam of three years is the 1989 xmas episode with Marge. I would love it if they re-ran summer 93 episodes with Victor on the farm etc. but we have to remember that Maria HATES anything that wasn't written by her which is why we got her crappy "classic" repeats. watch this year be the episode where Geneieve pushes Colin off the balcony or Devon finding out Tucker is his father, I almost forgot about all the stuff that happen when Victor came back. Ashley John and Jack tried to build that rival cosmetics company, until the stress got too much for John and he had another heart attack. I posted those episodes with that storyline on youtube not too long ago. So i guess after all that drama the didn't really focus too much on Victor vs Jack. It seems like 1994-1996 there wasn't really anything, and then the feud heated up again in 1998 1999 right?.
  13. Sigh... I wish i did, i heard it was a really well done funeral too. Even Ryan did a eulogy which was touching after the hell Victor put him through with Victoria. Also i know that during that time they had a temp replacement for Brad (Russell Todd) taking over for Diamont so i wish i could see those clips just for that. I agree that the Victor/Hope in Kansas story was one of the best summer stories on Y&R, and when i think about it its interesting that Victor left because not only were the woman in his life pushing him away, but he had to deal with Jack and being responsible for Nikki miscarrying the baby. Its interesting how i t seems that they made Jack the total victim which drove Victor out of town, but they later proved that Jack was no better than Victor by taking over his company even though Victor was pronounced "dead". So i guess what i am trying to say is that even though Victor won again and took back everything. He did pay that year by having to be driven away by his loved ones.
  14. LOL, I think someone refered to that cue as the "Wailing Guitar of evil" I have never watched Melrose Place so i wouldn't really know the comparison that much . As cool as it sounds, it does sound kind of out of place for a soap like Y&R. I can hear it being used more for B&B IMO. I have the whole entire week where Victor returns from the grave. I heard that on the specific episode where everyone is gathered around (Airdate September 30, 1993) That was one of Y&R's highest rated episodes i think raging a 9. something. If im being a bit honest, i personally felt like there could have been more to those episodes and some aspects it looked rushed., but they defnitely had a excellent build up. Wayy better than anything with Adam or Chance "returning from the grave" On the Sheila video, didn't B&B have that same exact cue starting at 4:00? I know that B&B is famous for stealing some of Y&R's cues.
  15. Thanks for sharing this soapfan! I have never seen this cover it's stunning. I would also love to see those John and Mamie vs Jill scenes. Didn't they almost have Jill and Mamie get into a catfight? I heard about a scene where they were in the kitchen having a shouting match and apparently had some sort of food fight? (and no i'm not getting confused with Macy and karen's foodfight on B&B LOL) Maybe i'm going crazy... LOL Yes there are some 1995 clips resurfacing, They finally put back up those Sheila and Lauren Y&R 1995 clips I talked about earlier. They are in French but oh well... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VIzqqd5RzM I have to ask this, I'm not sure if i'm the only one to think so, but where they really trying to make Y&R more Primetime starting around 1993/1994?. I know they did about 4 primetime episodes at night, but i ask because the "new" music cues of late 1993 throughout almost the rest of the 90's give off more of a prime time feel, like it fits better watching the soap in the night rather than the daytime. I don't think its bad or anything, but its just interesting if thats what they were going for. Even the look of the show looked like it was a primetime soap.
  16. I want to see those episodes associated with those promos so badly! minus a scene or two there is NOTHING from Y&R 1994-1995. I would love to see Nikki vs Victoria 1994. Nikki and Victoria were on the outs for most of the year because Nikki was mad at Victoria for seeing/marrying Cole and Victoria was mad at Nikki for seeing Jed i believe, as well as really no other reason LOL. Here is another favorite promo of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiG5tJXAeZw I just love the way that they did this, this is the reason why Jill Nikki and Lauren led the openings for most of the 90's I remember when i first saw this promo, i thought Lauren was fighting Nikki and Not Traci. I still think that Nikki and Lauren should have fought over Brad in the 1995-1996 era. You could easily replace Traci with Nikki in this situation, but it was good that even though she was recurring , Beth still got story.
  17. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but i still can't believe that this person has all these 80's ATWT and GL episodes, but no full episodes of Y&R and B&B I would kill to see all or most of Y&R 1989 since it seems like it set the pace of what the 90's on Y&R were going to be about.
  18. WOW, thanks for sharing this! when did the trivia game out? it looks a good 20 plus years old.
  19. Your Welcome! Reading this again made me a little sad as to what the show could have been. It is nothing without all these interesting characters. I laughed at the part where she said she found Ridge and Ronn "stiff" and had no sense of humor (sooo true) If only this article came out a couple months later when Ridge nearly killed Brooke by pushing her in the pool and cracking her head open, I can picture her writing something like " I find him stiff and not having a sense of humor (Of course that is probably a good thing since when he tried using his so-called humor by pushing the "focused" Brooke into the Forrester Pool , he nearly put her in a coma"!) LOL As entertaining as it was, it's sad that Sheila and Eric pretty much were terrible as a married couple. So their wasn't any love scenes. They were much better before they got married IMO. You know, i have never scene any clips involving Macy's early stories that much, so i have no idea what Keith/Kevin and even that Sly guy are like. Sheila never actually teamed up with Stephanie right? I know what she was talking about but i thought Stephanie just laughed Sheila off when she wanted to team up with her to take down Brooke.
  20. As much as i wished there were some characters during Bill's tenure that had scenes together/ or scenes together more often. I agree that made Y&R seem a tad bit more real compared to other soaps. I still think that throughout the 90's ( especially the early 90's) The only story that seem to exist in its own sphere was anything involving Scott and Lauren. I know Scott had Cricket as his sister and Lauren had Paul, and Brad but i guess minus a few "rare" events they never integrated them with all the characters. They did at one point ( I have an episode from 1989 where its Cricket's 20th birthday and Scott was dating her and the Abbotts are guests) but not really in the 90's I know its because they were killing off Scott and phasing out Lauren (Before she ran to B& but i still think its weird how those two were never guests at events held by Katherine, or The Newmans and Abbotts. I feel in a way Danny and Cricket had their own story, but where tied to more important people.... But then again so was Lauren in many ways so thats why i find that part soo weird.
  21. The Bold and the Beautiful- Report Card (From the August 31, 1993 SOD) ACTING-B- STORIES-A+ ROMANCE-A HUMOR-B+ LOOK-A+ By Carolyn Hinsey The Bold and the Beautiful is the most entertaining show on daytime. This show goes from bittersweet to boffo without missing a beat, and is always terrific drama. B&B is not exactly reality-based, which is ironic, because it is the only soap opera set in a real place- Los Angeles. For example, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) lives in the heart of L.A. Her doorbell rings. "Come in-the door's open!" chirps Ms. Logan. Is it a serial killer? No. it's the terminally preppie Connor (Scott Thompson Baker). He's there to confess his undying love to his former high school crush, who has been very busy since her cheerleading days. (Brooke has borne two-count em, two-illegitimate children since then, by father/son tag team Eric and Ridge Forrester.) With the door still unlocked, Brooke and Connor embrace. But so what? People don't tune into soap operas to watch their favorite characters pick up their dry cleaning. B&B is never better than when its powerhouse women are going over the top- any combination of Stephanie, Brooke, Sheila and Sally, and my day is made. It's been especially fascinating lately to watch sworn enemies Stephanie (the formidable Susan Flannery) and Sheila (talented Kimberlin Brown) team up against Brooke; patent formulas do indeed make strange bedfellows. Here's Steph during one of the BeLief (Brooke Logan Forrester- Get It?) battles: "You tramp!" Brooke: "You thief!" Stephanie: Slap. Brooke: slap. There's the stoic Eric jumping in to stop them from killing each other. Just another day in Forrester Creations.... I used to think that Brooke was a whiny spoilsport, but lately her story has been the best on the show. (She refers to her enemies now as "the frigging Forresters.") Brooke's battle with the F clan is fraught with peril- and only a Bell show could turn someone that annoying into a sympathetic character. It;s bad enough that Brooke is continually up against that old batlle-ax Steph; add Sheila to Brooke's battle and viewers feel downright sorry for the girl. Who'd have thunk it? It's particularly refreshing to watch the evolution of Brooke's feelings toward Ridge. I have always found Ridge to be a little stiff. He doesn't have much of a sense of humor, and in the battle for Brooke's affections, it always seemed more logical for Brooke to pick sexy Eric, or now the caring Connor, over the incredible hunk. Of course, there's a lot we don't know about Connor, but knowing talented Head Writer Bradley Bell, we'll find out soon enough. Ridge (Ronn Moss) and Taylor (Hunter Tylo) seem much better suited for each other, and their recent attempts to make a baby, have steamed up the screen. Taylor's run-ins with Sheila have been tantalizing, and i hope the good doctor gets to treat the bad nurse very soon. Doctor/Patient confidentiality will be the least of Taylor's worries. Of course, it's not realistic to think that an attempted murderess like Sheila could have actually pulled off her marriage to high-powered Eric (The excellent John McCook). But if ace detective Paul on YOUNG AND RESTLESS had spotted her wedding photo in the Genoa City Chronicle, we wouldn't be watching her delicious antics today. And what fun would that be? Nobody arches an eyebrow better than Kimberlin Brown; I wonder if her evil eye is scripted. But where have Sheila and Eric's love scene been lately? Aren't they newlyweds? Their wedding was strangely perfect, and it was nice to see old do-the-right-thing Eric stand up to his snooty family for the love of a bad woman. Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley) would be in danger of becoming a caricature if it weren't for her touching relationship with sad sack daughter Macy. Macy and Thorne's (Jeff Trachta) tenuous reconciliation has been an interesting twist, and Bobbie Eakes has given the formerly one-dimensional Macy previously untapped layers. Keith's (Ken LaRon) crush on Macy is intriguing, as race has not been the issue keeping them apart- her alcoholism and her feelings for Thorne are the obstacles. It's tough on a half hour show to properly integrate minority characters but bar owner Keith and his mentally challenged brother Kevin (Keith Jones) are a fresh approach to this dilemma. Maybe Macy's inevitable AA sponser will turn out to be a beautiful Naomi Campbell-ish model. It's hard to understand Karen's (Joanna Johnson) role in the action as of late. She seems like a poor man's Brooke, rather than the cherished Caroline's reincarnation. Her presence doesn't seem to bother Ridge at all, and she has been shut out in the romance department by both Thorne and Connor. Where is Karen's father, Bill? What does she think of Bill and Darla? How does she feel about Macy and Thorne's rekindled romance? It's hard to get a handle on that character these days and Johnson deserves better. But all of the other women on B&B more than make up for that by handling - or should we say manhandling- each other. "You Bitch", Sheila snipes as she wheels around to face Stephanie, "Nobody controls Sheila Carter". "Not even Sheila Carter", Steph shoots back. And here's Brooke promising Sheila that she is going to "give it to Stephanie Forrester in spades". There goes Sheila's eyebrow! We Can't wait. May the Forresters be with you.
  22. Thanks for sharing Carl!, I have something like this for B&B in one of my 1993 digests, I should post that on the classic B&B thread! I think this article was right on the button to what Y&R was in its prime. The author is right when they say that the show didn't go all out for more viewers, and that Bell's slow pacing was the key to keep viewers in, and made it stand out over any soap. I'm shocked though that they graded continuity a perfect A+. Bill's Y&R I hate to say probably had the worse continuity at the time. This was when Stories could be told on the same day and same episode, but yet there could be characters that have moved on from the previous days/nights events, and then there are characters who are still stuck on the day before the other character's time. Watch Y&R November 23,24, and 26 1993 on youtube and you will catch my drift. If anything i feel like Continuty and character development should be switched.
  23. alphanguy, can you please post the "Katherine's Theme" music from the old Y&R soundtrack? I love that piece. I liked it when they played it during the 1975 episode that use to be up and when Katherine is freaking out over learning Jill is her daughter in 2003.
  24. Here is the Original Selena Fay Hauser in this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSLYavq74t8 She did have a lot of spunk but after seeing old videos of Amy (played by Stephanie Williams) I liked her way more than Selena and i'm upset they choose not to keep her. getting rid of Detective Gil is just plain rotten, I think everyone said to pair him with Olivia.... I guess its best that he is gone though then to be a part of Maria's "Black" storyline I'd too take Gil any day over grandpa Chance, and School Yard bully Ronan and now poor Leslie seems to be replaced with The new playboy bunny Avery.
