Y&R: Old Articles
They have been civil over the years but for the most part Nikki thinks Jill's an annoying hag & Jill thinks Nikki is a vapid bimbo Haha, that made me LOL. They seriously should have been long lost sisters instead of Lauren.... soo many awesome one liners come out of an argument between Nikki amd Jill. Brenda was hella jealous of MTS. She considered herself Y&R's star & Jill a "misunderstood heroine" which the character hadn't been in years Wow... though i always suspected it, thats the first time i have heard about any type of bad blood between Brenda and Melody. But it proves even more that Melody does not know when to shut her mouth, as i think she was more at fault for pushing Brendas buttons. What did Mr. Braeden think of Ms. Dickson?... Everybody loves Jess. She's one of the few cast members that's universally adored. She seems like a sweetheart, despite the whole contract dispute with her last year, though she wasn't at fault there. I hope her and Tracey get along when the cameras are not rolling.

Jill & Nikki have never liked each other. At best they tolerate each other. So was it bad at the time when Nikki married Greg, do you think that some of that bad blood between them originates to that? Not so much in front of the camera Oh boy can i only imagine what it was like with Brenda and Melody behind the camera... Considering all the bad blood with Bill and Ed that Brenda had... i'm sure claws were coming out. I actually have this feeling that out of all the Jills that were on while Melody has been there, the only one Melody was really ever nice to was Jess....

Compared to todays "Character Based stories" it probably made A LOT of sense. but when exactly did Danny and Cricket/Nina get the chance to meet Neil/Dru? With all the David Kimble mess, its kind of hard to imagine them getting introduced to them so quickly after that to the point they had this little story together. It just hit me too that Nina technically new Neil before she met Ryan, and thats interesting considering that Ryan and Neil were starting their friendship unless they really weren't friends till way later. also another thing i'm wondering, when exactly did the tension between Nikki and Jill start? Like when did they start showing signs of disliking each other? The earliest i have seen is when that fire Broke out at Katherine's during the Jill claiming she had the right to live there storyline, and Jill and Nikki have to be prevented from attacking each other. I know most of the later stories have to do with Jill's jealousy cause of Nikki's closeness to Katherine, but when exactly did these two fighting start?... Did Brenda as Jill get to go at it with Nikki back in the day?

I have seen that storyline clip on youtube, and have a couple December 1991 recaps when that all took place. It really looks like better filter material than anything, and when i say better i mean stuff that wasn't necessary but kind of made sense compared to what would be bad filter on todays Y&R.

Backstage issues with EVERYBODY Jeez... I know this may be a dumb question but why does being the number 1 show drive all of this backstage rivalry and egotistical people.... I actually read that Bill almost fired Eric/Peter for their little fight happening.... Loving Kimberlin is one thing. Overusing her is another. On Y&R though?... if anything i would say that B&B 1992-1998 should have been called the Sheila show. They did. Her initial umbrella story just didn't include the entire canvas (not necessarily a bad thing). And Sheila's 2005 "return"? HORRIBLE. Well besides Scott/Lauren/Paul I know she knew Olivia because she worked with her and there is a clip on youtube where Olivia tells Sheila she is pregnant, then of course she knew Cricket and Danny because of Scott, and John Silva who btw apparently knew Sheila wayy before she came to GC. Then there was a time she met Brad when he came to confront her about the picture puzzle on B&B. Overall its understanable that Sheila was better used on B&B, because Y&R was such a big cast, and it would be impossible to have her interact with everyone there, while it was easier on B&B. Did Sheila ever meet Nina from your recollection Deedee? I always thought that Sheila and Nina becoming enemies would have been interesting.... Her 2005 return looked like it was okay, but there were soo many things that could have shaped it up better.... And still she (like Lauren) was fairly upset after he died Yeah, but i actually read the recap from November 1993 that talks about Scott's funeral and the only people that showed were Lauren, Cricket, Paul and Brad i think?.... Its hard to belive that Olivia would not be there since she seemed like she was a good aquaintence of his. also Nina was not there for Cricket?... It did. It also created a situation where a horrible writer (like LML) could ruin Y&R's existing paradigm without much effort and Maria "Hell" just keeps making it worse........

Yeah that's probably true. Oh well, it was definitely a perfect paring for that specific time on Y&R as was Victor and Ashley. Hey Deedee, i'm curious about something that i never really understood about on Y&R. Why did it seem like when Lauren and Scott were a couple on Y&R they never really interacted with that many people on Y&R. I'm just curious cause i know Lauren always knew all those important people on Y&R, even though it seems like with the whole Sheila mess, she never really interacted with them that much in the early 90's most of all it's Scott i'm curious about though. I know he was never a big character, and Peter Barton was indeed just a so so actor, ( though it looks like he really improved towards the end) but why did it seem like Scott who was the older brother of Cricket who everyone loved (except David Kimble, and Michael etc...) did not get that much attention for that. Was Scott even aware that his sister had to fake her death at the masquerade ball to trap David, or that she was nearly raped by Michael? I guess i'm asking this because soo many new charcters were introduced at that time ( Dru, Olivia, Neil, Ryan etc...) and it seems like within the next year, most of these "newbies" had big connections to more of the important citenzens of GC. I guess it was because most of these people got jobs at Jabot/ or Newman but yeah what is your take on this Deedee?.

Yes, Terry left in September, while Peter began on November 27, 1989. I believe that Victor started the takeover while Jack was out of town ( aka when they fired Terry) at least from what i read, I could be wrong. I know what happens after though with Jack marrying Nikki and all for revenge.... Speaking of that does anyone think that it would be kind of cool if they put Nikki and Jack back together now? They seemed like such a nice happy couple in the early 90's despite Nikki being a drunk, and her miscarriage/son with Jack being stillborn.I liked how in the Victor scrooge episode, they had them get back together if Victor were to be killed off.

ALL: They Almost Became
Wow... I can't believe I ignored this thread for a whole summer, besides the one comment about Kimberlin Brown almost Becoming Cassandra Rawlins on Y&R. haha time to comment on a few things i have seen while skimming through these pages. Steve Burton - originally auditioned for the role of A. J. Quartermain on General Hospital You know, maybe because he is bff's with Scott Reeves, I seriously thought that Steve would audition for the part of Ryan McNeil. I can actually see him playing that character, plus it wouldn't make the huge age difference between him and Victoria in real life that distracting since Steve is like five years older than Heather Tom, and Scott was like nine or ten years older than her. and it would be interesting to see Steve on a more sophiscated show like Y&R, then to the mob obsessed GH, but sadly i'm sure like they did when Scott played Ryan, they would have killed him off anyway in 2001... actually scratch that i could picture Steve being on there longer than Scott was for some reason. Christie Clark - auditioned for the role of Victoria Newman on Young & the Restless when Heather Tom chose to leave I don't think that that would have been a bad choice at all, Christie is a really great actress, and i could totally see her bring her strength that she had on days, over to Y&R as Victoria. Katherine Kelly Lang - originally auditioned for the role of Caroline on Bold & the Beautiful Hmm.... I can actually see this sort of happening.... KKL can definitely play nice very well, so yeah..... I wonder who would have been Brooke then?... Joanna Johnson? That's interesting that Quinn Reddeker was considered to play Alistair on Passions. To be honest i'm not sure if that would have worked out very well... It just seems like after seeing old clips of Rex on Y&R, i guess Quinn seems a little too sweet for that role, it would be cool to see him, just because having Y&R actors coming on to Passions is interesting to me.

Thanks you for posting these pictures Carl! Gosh i cant get over these women's hairstyles LOL! I guess this party was shot before Brenda Dickson left, as seeing she wasn't on the show anymore in July 1987. Wow, cant believe how similar Beth Maitlands, and Tracey Bregmans hair was. I dont believe i've seen Eric Braeden grin that hard before, kinda creepy in a good way i guess LOL!
