  1. I don't agree that this isn't about attacking them as well. Do I think you're attacking them? No. Do I think that the people who push this stuff have an agenda to dehumanize all illegal immigrants (and many legal ones as well)? Yes. And that's what terms like that do.
  2. I hope I didn't cause that...
  3. I'd say we shouldn't call them "anchor babies" because there's no real point in attacking a baby for something they have no control over. Not because of political correctness. Not to mention that many of the people pushing this term were "anchor babies" themselves.
  4. Someone is uploading old episodes. Not sure of the era. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6d9f1Yh0ae2mSBI3MxZz9g
  5. Virginia Vestoff's Doctors run started yesterday. If anyone wants to see the episodes I can give you the link.
  6. Nicola Stephenson is joining the show. http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2099078
  7. Loved the last part of this scene. Beautiful writing, acting, and direction. People only ever talk about Freddie Jones when they want to talk about ham but he's given some absolutely aching performances lately. Moments like this are why I still hope for Emmerdale.
  8. It's just strange comparing it to the days of Jim McDonald and Jez Quigley.
  9. Other than the one hard kick, that "beating" of Jason was surprisingly tame. I wonder if they were worried about complaints? Emmerdale has had some rougher stuff recently around the same timeslot or earlier - the beating scenes with Cain and Robert come to mind, as does Pete beating Ross to "death."
  10. I think DTC is going for what he used to have with people like Minty and Heather, but it was awful then too. Now it's even worse. And while I realize Paul was always going to be an acquired taste, I think this story has done him less than zero favors.
  11. On paper, Vincent/Ronnie should be exciting, but I just don't see any chemistry - and Vincent is too much of a joke character (or a joke actor) to invest in. Most of DTC's new characters are either just passable or unwatchable. I'm still astonished at the amount of airtime given to the walking horror that is Les Coker.
  12. That reminds me of Caroline Rhea's old standup routine about her Australian agent who uptalked and always made bad news seem cheerful as a result. The show was often dull and plodding under DTC/Santer - I think people forgot because Santer was so good at hype. And now on his own DTC mostly has time for his pet projects - Carters, "hunks," bad camp, pregnancy galore. And the show is just aimless. I have no idea what they are even trying to do with Ronnie. I assume the original idea was a quad with Charlie/Ronnie/Roxy/Vincent, but then the fan backlash against Roxy/Charlie was too strong, so Dean was put into the story. It's just so dull and pointless. They had an obvious story with Ronnie learning to bond with her son, and they just ignored it, because a story like that would take effort. I also assume this will end with Ronnie killing Dean, to "protect" her dumbass sister yet again, and I'm sure some fans will crow over the brilliance of it, and say hey you haters, Dean paid after all, but it's been done about 3 times now. Do we need to see it again? And even if Dean is killed, it won't take away the year of garbage material that was likely just extended because Matt di Angelo looks good with his top off. We're also going to be getting more of that dirty-looking rat Tina's attempts to reconcile Mick and Shirley again soon - is the nation waiting with bated breath for that one? I've never bought their relationship. I was watching some of the Carter's early scenes around the time Johnny came out and it's all so damn contrived, absolutely no belivability or heart to it. The only way I tolerate them is if they aren't around each other much.
  13. Quiz. http://metro.co.uk/2015/08/18/quiz-calling-all-emmerdale-fans-how-much-do-you-remember-about-2015-in-the-dales-so-far-5349033/
  14. I wonder if most of the people left on the show will even care.
  15. http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2015/aug/17/coronation-street-lost-the-plot-cobblers The sly dig at Emmerdale is pointless and the attempt to act like Betty's funeral was anything but shameful makes me roll my eyes, but I do agree with some of their points (even if it goes beyond "get Stephanie Cole" - the show was still unwatchable with her, she's not a miracle worker)
  16. I thought she was still good at times - the material has been poor. I don't think there were any Butchers on the show (unless you count Pat) from 2004-2007.
