ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
I recognized Harley immediately. Glad she's still getting work. Ryan McPartlin (Hank, Passions) is the male lead. Here's the IMDB credit, under a different title. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4789290/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_6

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
My thoughts on the rewind episode: I was spoiled, but I'm not too sorry about it, as to be honest I didn't care about the mystery anyway. The idea of Andy and Ross working together is interesting (and it's not out of character for Andy, especially since we saw Ross systematically manipulating him into agreeing), but I just don't think Pete has done enough to warrant Ross' raging hatred of him. It feels like a "clever" idea to link the two brother feuds, and I just don't know if it works. I've actually come to like Pete far more than Ross, which is sad. I hope they fix Ross, and I hope they keep Pete and Andy friends. I wish the show would have them hook up - they'd make a good couple. As for Ross, they seem to think they can constantly have him behave in a sociopathic, childish way, and just pass it off as simultaneously "oh he's hurting" and "isn't he so cheeky." It's not working for me. At all. It's just boring and unpleasant. Paddy's cheating is not out of character for him, but I'm wary of where this will go. If this is going to be "poor Paddy stalked by a psycho," I'm going to be ticked off, because I'm tired of that story, and because it's dishonest. He's a manwhore - let him face the consequences. The Ashley scenes were harrowing...by far the best part of the episode. Aaron's monologue about loving Robert and always wanting to take him back felt like fan fiction. It matches nothing I saw onscreen in months, where Aaron was more than fine being without Robert. The "poor Aaron" stuff just isn't working. Time to let him grow up. Well past time. I'm so tired of seeing Chas weak and frail and being babied. I don't understand what has happened to this character. I don't recognize anything about her since I tuned back in this year. Kate Oates does not know her at all.

I agree with you - it's mostly certain actors who brought me back to Emmerdale but so many have left or are leaving, and the show is just oddly formless now. It's still better than the other soaps, but isn't anywhere what it should be. And with a Hollyoaks producer arriving soon I worry about what will happen, especially since new producers love to clean house and I have a feeling if he does it will be low-level supporting characters, many of whom are why I still watch the show (like Finn and Leyla). I uploaded the Matt/Dolly episode to Youtube, BTW. Have you seen it?- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I was very unhappy with the news about Ashley. I don't trust Emmerdale or Kate Oates to do this type of story justice (Corrie has done this story repeatedly and it was a mess every time - the last time with Eileen and Mike Barnes was an atrocity), and it's a real waste to do this to Ashley, who is a good, kind person who loves the community - something all too rare on Emmerdale now as it races toward being some sort of wannabe crime drama. Stories like this also tend to bring back bad memories for me so I try not to watch them. I hope the new producer changes this and keeps Ashley around. I don't want them to undo his dementia, like they apparently did with Caroline on DAYS, but I don't want the character to be sacrificed. Ashley is one of the characters who got me into Emmerdale and it's going to be difficult to watch without him.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread

Small clip I uploaded for the passing of Peter Baldwin, the wonderful actor who played hapless Derek Wilton for many years. The character could be extremely annoying, but he also made me laugh. This particular scene always made me laugh a lot. Here he and Thelma Barlow are a few years ago.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread

Great cliffhanger. And great to see Lorna again. I love the time you spent letting us see these individual conversations and reactions to Carl's impending death, rather than just having everyone find out off-panel. This is what soaps USED to excel at.- The Politics Thread
Her thinly veiled contempt for most of the morons (and boy are they morons, even Gowdy Doody, who got an endless media coronation for how "fair" he would be) is hilarious. http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/22/politics/hillary-clinton-benghazi-hearing-updates/ And what a contemptuous twit. http://www.businessinsider.com/peter-roskam-hillary-clinton-benghazi http://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/rep-roskam-gives-clinton-time-to-look-at-her-notes/2015/10/22/584114b4-78cf-11e5-a5e2-40d6b2ad18dd_video.html He should run for President!- The Politics Thread

None of them are serious actresses, aside from Eileen Davidson and maybe Lisa Rinna (does she still act?), but kudos to her.- Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
I think they're shaving a few years off Ste... He's too thin to me, and the smile often makes him look a bit freakish, although he does have a nice ass. Truth be told I'd probably pick him over Harry in terms of a fun time, as Harry is so dead-eyed.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Not to mention that Denise also sort of faked her death (albeit for different reasons). The DTC sycophants still love to talk about how just wait, he'll give Denise her time, but it's been two years and the most she's done is beat Patrick's ass.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I kind of wish they'd have Mick and Elaine run off together. You know he wants it. I haven't watched the last few episodes but I read that they had Denise belittle Kathy for returning from the dead. I guess this is DTC's way to make us pity Kathy (he clearly doesn't like Denise at all) but this and Dot's shrug of a reaction really undercut how meaningless returning from the dead has become on this show. I have a feeling the only reason they even brought Kathy back was for the boring old man Gavin, the latest attempt at an Archie Mitchell clone, and his boring feud with Phil that will change Phil forever...or for about 2 weeks.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Yeah these Marvista "thrillers" have some of the worst acting coupled with the worst lines. It's so hilariously bad. Is it supposed to seem like a parody?- The Politics Thread
Me too, Gmac. Of course the media would kill a houseful of kittens to get media darling Marco (or Jeb Bush) into the White House, so I'm not hopeful. Joe Biden makes it official that he's not running. I'm glad he made this choice as I think he would have lost and likely just tarnished what has been a good 8 years as VP. I think all the "Republicans are not our enemies" is of a very different era though - ask John Kerry how that worked out. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/10/biden-215013 I've been interested in the blowback and angst that Trump blaming 9/11 on W has caused. The same people that loved blaming Clinton for 9/11 likely have angina over this. It's something that doesn't even really matter to the average joe, but to them, people who still try to pretend their plans and invasions in the Middle East were not huge ego-crushing failures, it clearly hurts like hell.- Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
The difference is about 10 years. The actors aren't that far apart so it is not as noticeable as it likely would be otherwise. They're lucky that there is always a market for half-naked men kissing, because the acting and story aren't that good. The only way I'll buy it long-term is if Ste starts controlling or abusing him, which is what Ste would do.- The Politics Thread
Any thoughts on Canada's elections a few days ago? I can see why people would be wary of Justin Trudeau, as he seems to be untested, but the thinly veiled contempt from certain quarters can't help amusing me. My favorite is The Guardian writer who goes on at length to complain about his hair and appearance and says that it's too American to elect people based on their last name. It doesn't say much for her opinion of Canada if she really thinks that is why they voted for him. Many of them likely weren't even of voting age when his father was in office.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
