  1. Did someone [!@#$%^&*] on Seacrest's head?
  2. So they've pretty much said it's over then? I read a day or so ago that they thought the Democrat might do alright in absentees but not on same-day voting. But it does seem likely the Republican will win, Of course it shouldn't even be close, but election after election of "it should't be close" is going to demoralize people.
  3. A Twitter of one of the reporters covering the MT special election. Among other tidbits - higher turnout than expected (not a surprise), Gianforte's thuggery hasn't changed any votes at a polling place (not a surprise - actually I thought it might get him more votes...I still think it might), and his thuggery has gotten him a spike in donations (not a surprise). https://twitter.com/annehelen
  4. Yikes. I guess this shows why it's so important for groups to keep pushing about absentee voting.
  5. We really are in Thick of It territory now. Hell we left that a year ago.
  6. Oh. I thought he was expected widely to win, but it just might be a bit close. I saw a quote from some voter who basically said that it wasn't the best idea but the guy probably did something to cause it. That's how I expect the average voter will end up feeling. This week you have been able to feel how much our standing in Europe has further shrunk (or had already shrunk and we just didn't fully face it) with this, the tourism article, an article that Politico put out about the EU comeback, etc. I guess the people who were desperate for us to be broken off from the rest of the world will be happy. Let's just see how happy they are when it starts to hit them where it hurts. And let's see if any of this can be fixed once Trump is out of office. Most of these countries don't like us, haven't ever liked us, but felt they needed us. Once they feel they don't, where will we be?
  7. The scene with Bobby seeing Laura meant a lot to me as I was very much into their relationship. I didn't mention it as I didn't want to spoil things for people who were watching just through the TV airings.
  8. Sad thing is this will likely get him a lot of votes.
  9. That second interview has quite an intro... I wish ellebelle (I think that was their name) still posted here. They would have enjoyed all these.
  10. I've seen this old commercial a few times and it took me forever to figure out who does the voiceover at the end. You can probably guess quicker than I did. (is the first guy Garrett M Brown?)
  11. Various UK officials are furious at the US for publishing detailed information about the Manchester bombing. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-40038630
  12. She has none of the charisma Pamela Sue Martin had, unless she's a lot better on the show.
  13. Thanks. Sorry - I was just distracted as soon as I saw that word as I'm always wary with Greenwald.
  14. Duterte said to Trump, according to a transcript obtained by The Intercept and posted online. I can believe he said it, I just wonder why they published it.
  15. Is that that Glenn Greenwald site? I don't trust their motives.
  16. The Long Island one is impressive too as I thought that was a big Trump place.
  17. An article about how increasingly difficult it's become for anyone to react to negative campaigning. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/24/trump-montana-mudslinging-special-election-238749 I think this is somewhat untrue, it mostly just depends on the campaign and the ads and research/hit pieces used, but I can believe some of it. I remember seeing the pro-Hillary ad late in the campaign that was nothing but Trump clips. It gave me a sick feeling in my stomach because I knew it would desensitize people to him. And it did.
  18. @Vee thanks for the article on the ratings. I'm not really that surprised - I wasn't sure if it might be a bit higher, but realistically, the show has been off for 25 years and was a cult show. I decided to take your advice and go ahead and get the channel for a while. I've watched some of the first episode when I had time. I wondered what you thought of the box scene (the big moment i mean). I couldn't tell if he was trying to emulate some of the Japanese horror films. It reminded me more of Phantasmagoria (the game) - mainly the part where Gracie and the guy with the nipples were being slaughtered - it was one of those moments that was both slightly comic (maybe intentionally maybe not) and also terrifying. It had that '90s vibe to it. I'm kind of glad to see that type of thing again.
  19. It's nice to hear that Nancy was also written as an intelligent woman back then. A far cry on soaps now. Today she'd probably have her boobs falling out of her dress, on her seventh husband, drunk, maybe pregnant.
