I hadn't seen this promo before. It's about 6 minutes in.- The Politics Thread
I think she will still win, but her reaction to his being on the ballot (essentially freaking out, along with her supporters) didn't help matters. She reminds me of Bernie in that she seems very defensive to the idea of not being all things to all people, as when she and/or some of her supporters got upset over other Democrats saying she won because of issues in her distract, rather than because she unlocked the door to the universe. I really do wonder how much any candidates are helped by the Bernie parade or by being told to hold their noses for progressiveness. It didn't seem to help that guy running for mayor of Omaha very much.- Old TV clips - misc.
Lots of great old acts in this.- Doctor Who
I hadn't seen the fan art. Thanks. Lovely (and it taught me about a few companions I didn't know about, like Gus Goodman). I'm glad he included Sharon Davies. I'd seen some of the Twitch comments, which were a lot of fun. Anyway, here is the first look: It's alright. Seems a bit dated (about ten years off) and also a bit Torchwood, but I'm glad they didn't try too hard.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I read about this earlier but had hoped it was an exaggeration. I'm getting bad flashbacks to Bill Frist diagnosing brain dead people as cognizant video videotape. https://heavy.com/news/2018/07/paul-gosar-dentist-body-language-strzok-video/ His brother apparently hates him more than anyone else ever could. https://www.azcentral.com/story/opinion/op-ed/laurieroberts/2017/10/24/rep-gosars-siblings-aghast-paul-has-sunk-so-low/795043001/- The Politics Thread
Sadly a lot of people will just see the "gotcha" selectively edited clips that were going around social media. Between the dumbasses in Congress and the increasingly reactionary and completely inept clown in the White House, I'm not sure we've been as impotent or as open to being completely left behind (and not in the Kirk Cameron way) as we are now. I have no use for Theresa May, but for Trump to go over during a visit and trash her at length - someone who is supposed to be his ally and who took huge heat for having him - is the epitome of the petty and pathetic mentality of just trying to smash all the toys all the time, simply for the hell of it. He has no plans (beyond what Putin tells him or what lines his pockets) and doesn't even make a token effort to pretend he has one now. He has never been more out of control, and this is just going to get worse and worse unless someone in Congress steps in.- DAYS: Behind the Scenes, Articles/Photos
- "Secret Storm" memories.
That's interesting. Were all those characters written out, as planned (with the others brought in)? I didn't know that Janice Wylie's murder was so known to cause this level of concern with a name. I'm trying to remember if there were any women on soaps in these years with that name. ATWT had a Janice, but that was from the late '50s on.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Poor Denise Nickerson. I had no idea she was ill (she had a stroke in June and has had other problems; her family is asking for money). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5943247/Willy-Wonka-Chocolate-Factory-star-Denise-Nickerson-61-suffers-stroke.html- Dark Shadows Discussion Thread

I remember the rumors back when he first came back via Jensen Ackles that Eric had had a secret male lover in Colorado. Then his secret turned out to be some girl he met at Bible school. I guess it's fitting that Jensen Ackles would go on to play a character endlessly speculated on as gay or bisexual by many of his show's fans...- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I'd say it's less about Trump and more about how craven Republicans are in the last decade. They also fully supported Steve Scalise after it was revealed he spoke in front of a white supremacist group. This was in 2015/late 2014. People in the media who try to make this depravity all about Trump are setting us all up in the long run.- The Politics Thread
I just hope he manages to have a chance in Thailand, let alone anywhere else. The world as a whole is becoming colder and harder on this front.- The Politics Thread
Resentment toward NATO was a big thing with Republicans even before Trump. Another case of the GOP being given a handwave. I won't be surprised if he does pull us out. It's getting difficult to react...- Another World Discussion Thread

I heard some were critical of Bomer so I'm glad he did alright. (how much do they show in that anyway?) I can't really see Quinto in that type of role, as I don't think he has the depth, but good for him. Parsons is a very good actor. It's a real credit to him that he doesn't seem to have let Sheldon typecast him.- MeTV

Maybe they're trying to get out of seeing Trump too... I think a lot of these are temper tantrums. The right wing in the UK are starting to see the Brexit they wanted is never going to happen. They also don't have the ability to get Theresa May out of office. This is their only way to get attention. I read that people are denying this. Who knows. I will say if it's true then he is one of the most craven justices ever on the SCOTUS.- The Politics Thread
I can't stand this type of stuff. I don't know how to make it smaller as I don't see the font control button. I know this is what you get with Politico, but this type of blatant, glib dishonesty (the far right has made it clear they want no moderates and that two of their main goals are to ban abortion and gay marriage and overturn those rulings...and in many areas of the country it is now all but impossible for women to have abortions) is exactly why so many hate the pundit class. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/07/09/donald-trump-brett-kavanaugh-supreme-court-218963 That does not mean the Democratic opposition will refrain from hyperventilating. For some reason, when Democratic presidents place liberal Democratic justices on the Court, Republicans remain calm. They may oppose. They may even oppose when they should not. But the four horses of the apocalypse are kept in the barn, out of sight. The nominees even get a substantial number of Republican votes. Merrick Garland aside, Obama’s two nominees both got 67 votes. But when Republican presidents nominate conservative justices no less qualified, sane, and moderate, the left throws a fit. It matters not who the nominee is. Please, my liberal friends, calm down. Abortion is not in danger. Roe v. Wade is an intellectual mess and the practice of abortion is anything but “safe, legal and rare,” as President Bill Clinton wanted it to be. But the Supreme Court as an institution is slow to change and extremely slow to admit its mistakes. I may be a poor vote-counter, but it is hard for me to count five votes for overruling Roe. At most, the Court will continue the path of the past two decades of permitting reasonable regulation but protecting the core of the right to an abortion. And even if I am wrong about that, remember that a reversal of Roe means nothing more than a return to the democratic process. If abortion is as valued as right at Democratic activists claim that it is, there is no need to protect it from the voters. Moreover, technology is quickly making abortion almost impossible to prohibit. Same-sex marriage is in even less danger. Again, Obergefell was not the best-reasoned of decisions, but there is zero appetite on the right to reverse it. At most, individuals and religious groups opposed to the practice will be protected from being coerced to lend their support or approval. That should have been the law all along.- Netflix: One Day at a Time
That's great. Between this, Danny Pino, and Gloria Estefan, they're really pulling out all the stops. - A New Day in Eden
