  1. Was that secretary ever actually on Dallas?
  2. When was the material with Daryl and Frannie on the ski lift? Was that around Labor Day 1992? That was an epic cliffhanger.
  3. Ian McShane? How random. Money talks, I guess.
  4. They were also kind not to mention his DWI... I don't believe so.
  5. He was the only Scott I liked. Cosgrove was mostly just wooden, and the only real memory I have of Mayfield is the time that certain attention-seeking site writers kept stirring up stories about his package. This pretty much shows why people are lazy and stupid if they base their article off IMDB: McDermott would go on to act in the soap opera "All My Children" for five episodes in 1995 and 1996.
  6. @I Am A Swede I thought you might like this.
  7. The closing credits looked beautiful. I'd love to see them in color. The only color ones I've seen reminded me of Dark Shadows.
  8. Thank you for finding this. What a treat! When I saw the thread had new posts I was hoping but never thought there'd be something like this. I don't think @amybrickwallace posts here now but I know she was a fan of Nic Coster's. Doesn't he have a Facebook? I wonder if he knows about this. I think when I watched one of the other episodes from this era I remember feeling the dialogue was very literate and the performances were crisp - that's still the case here. It was a good watch. I hated to see it end. I realize the show was going through bad changes at this time, but it still feels like they are treating viewers with respect. Lori March is such a fascinating actress, isn't she? I love watching her work. Stephen Bolster looks so handsome here. I wonder why he didn't work out as Jerry. Laurence Luckinbill is one of those 'new breed' of soap leading men - there's something so tense and extremely sexual about him (especially in the scene with Susan). Yet he isn't quite a fit for soaps either. I can see why he left for greener pastures. I'll probably always just remember him for Boys in the Band (he and his boyfriend were probably one of my first gay OTPs, and a number of their issues are still very resonant today).
  9. Oh I hadn't even thought of that. So many possibilities. I guess it's just left to the world of fan fiction, sadly...
  10. Iva seemed to lose so much spark in the early '90s and it seemed like she became a much older character. A great deal of the early Aaron story is fascinating to watch and it truly does test so many bonds - it also drives a stake through the heart of the Lily/Iva relationship in the most brilliant way - but I feel like if they wanted to give Iva a baby to somehow "make up" for her losing Aaron, it should have been from Kirk or from a brief fling with a guest character. The wrapup of the story, with Holden getting Aaron back and clearly not even wanting to raise him, is what always upset me most. It really, really pissed me off at the time and it made me loathe the character for years.
  11. I still think this whole thing was a mistake, and the Iva/John relationship was a mistake in general. The Snyders were a very trashy family but when you have two relatively sheltered and reserved women also sharing a man that's when the family began to really head into overkill soap opera territory. That's good to know about the actress who played Hal's sister. I agree we should have seen her again. I know she probably wouldn't have done it but I would have enjoyed seeing Parker Posey pop up as Tess at the end. Maybe she could have jeered some personality back into Cady's Rosanna...
  12. Chris Wallace seems to be taking a harder and harder line against Trump and friends. I wonder if he will get any blowback. Weird to see Will Saletan saying that stuff as I mostly remember him writing a lot of contrarian and covert right-wing articles at Slate, usually about social issues.
  13. I have a lot of doubts about Buzzfeed and their agenda (beyond self-promotion). If we find out down the line that someone there was pushing disinformation and scandal stories to discredit real information, I wouldn't be surprised. More and more media outlets give me this vibe. I felt the same way when I saw that CNN was attacking Beto O'Rourke for his "white privilege" (which simultaneously helps Trump in 2020 and also feeds into racial divisions in the Democratic Party).
  14. I don't think anything happened with her parents, I just meant they're elderly and that has to be a burden on her emotionally. She had a lot of conflict with her son, as he had some drug problems.
  15. I have a lot of mixed feelings about Wendy Williams, as I'm sure most people do, but it's been sad seeing her go through this fight the last few years - not just with her health, but also her marriage, and her son, her elderly parents, etc. And she seems all alone, which just makes it even worse for her.
  16. I'm so used to the Trump fanaticism but some days it can still depress me like the first day. I was talking to a family member, who doesn't have a mean bone in their body, but is a regular churchgoer and parrots all the lines about how Trump was doing his best before Democrats took over the House. It's just so dispiriting, because you can't tell someone like this they're wrong - they won't believe you. This is why churches getting into bed with Trump is so toxic and so damaging for this country. And in the long run it will just do them a great deal of harm.
