  1. I see that Larry Wilmore did a Ringer podcast with Ben Shapiro. I'm so disappointed at how many times the "liberal" media gives a platform to this hard right bunko artist and bigot.
  2. They just don't care. War makes them feel like big men (or big women, in a few cases). They can sigh, take off their glasses dramatically, and editorialize about The Horror Of War, while actually treating the whole thing as a fun game they will pay no price for.
  3. I don't think they'll kill Robert off, as they said he will be on a "break." I think they will send him to jail, or have him go on the run. Emmerdale loves sending people on the run.
  4. I think he gave a big speech on socialism, which seemed to be getting hype. I can tell the media is pushing for him to have a comeback because The Atlantic had a bizarre article out yesterday talking about how the other candidates were laughing at him. That's catnip to his perpetual victim-based supporters.
  5. I wasn't sure how long he'd stay, as he'd already tried for years with no real success, but I wish him well. I think he always got less credit than he deserved for what was a thankless role. And of course they did NOTHING to rebuild the Sugdens during his time there, because they don't give a damn. I wish the show had the guts to let Danny Miller go and have them leave together.
  6. That was more disgusting than I'd expected. No wonder the girls on the original show are all so screwed up, from the Olsens to hatemonger Cameron.
  7. No wonder so many of the Bernie bros on Twitter seem more bitter than ever. She's the toughest for them to beat, especially since, other than the horrific choice she made about the DNA test, she won't self-immolate the way Biden always does.
  8. More of NBC giving cash to hatemongers and their enablers. What a shocker.
  9. Those relationships have been dying for years, sadly.
  10. I didn't know Brooke Alexander was still doing ads by this time.
  11. Gloria Monty (who often was basically HW for GH) did the same when she returned and decided the Quartermaines were a symbol of the past. She was wrong. Bell probably had a point about the Fosters and the Brooks - the main actors in the roles were long gone - but I do wish he hadn't moved away quite as severely as he did. I wonder if some of this was also down to his dislike of Conboy, whom he worked with in the era of the families.
  12. EW had some pretty good content in the '90s but as the years passed became very generic. I'm so glad that man said what he said to Soledad O'Brien. She was a part of a media that was just as craven and despicable as what we have now.
  13. A writer for Vox, Carlos Maza, made a series of tweets about how he has been insulted and demeaned in racist and homophobic ways on the podcast of an alt right "comedian" and "activist." He has been doxxed, harassed, every video he makes is overrun by hate. They even sell T-shirts that, in a very "clever" way (clever if you're about 12), call him a f*g. Youtube/Google, unsurprisingly, did little to respond, until they finally decided to demonetize his channel until he made several changes. https://www.theverge.com/2019/6/5/18654196/steven-crowder-demonetized-carlos-maza-youtube-homophobic-language-ads Of course this makes him a hero and a martyr to the far right, with the likes of Ted Cruz and !@#$%^&*] Carlson all over him. And now, as yet another reminder that the far left is often no better, and is just as happy to support bigotry and threats if it gets them what they want, we have Glenn Greenwald: This is just obscene. Not only is he dismissing Maza's harassment, he's also pulling the old "nobody's had it worse than lil ol me" card that is so effectively used to minimize abuse and bullying. Men like Greenwald still have too much respect and power among many who only read surface level material and see them as some kind of heroes who stood up to the DNC. And that is going to be used, over and over again, in this election.
  14. In ratings terms it's probably holding on to its longtime viewers more than the other soaps. Speaking for myself, the disgusting treatment of social issues and the serial killer stories have made me lapse as a viewer. Kim's ridiculous return didn't help.
  15. I finally watched the two 1975 and 1978 episodes I'd saved up. Thank you to @YRfan23 and @ltm1997 !! I wonder if these are from a hardcore Leslie fan as many of those that pop up seem to heavily involve her. The two episodes were the strongest contrast between Janice and Victoria that we could have possibly gotten. Janice seems so alive, even as we also know how much Leslie struggles, while Victoria's work is so much more internalized. I wonder if that pushed JLB to become more over the top, as she seems restrained in that episode, even in fantasy scenes she could have easily hammed up. Always enjoy seeing Janice get to perform. Why she never got a vehicle in primetime I'm not sure. Unfortunately her attempts to do this on AW just weren't as effective. I laughed out loud at the ludicrousness of that "fan" of Leslie's showing up at her concert brandishing a hate memoir that drove her to a breakdown. This was just so Bill Bell. Of course some "fans" are bitches from hell, so it's not entirely far off, especially these days. Ahead of his time, Bell was. I thought Victoria Thompson, while not as good in the role as Jaime, was, oddly, a good contrast to Victoria Mallory's version of Leslie.
  16. The amount of people in the replies going on about what Tim Russert would have done make me roll my eyes. Russert was a showboat who was obsessed with his own image and with the chokehold of the Beltway. NBC News has been trash for many years.
  17. There's no excuse for that. And I worry that her team isn't keeping her safe enough.
  18. Sky News is known as the UK's Fox News, so this feels like lip service.
  19. I think it's also a consequence of too many people running. They are scrambling for places to go. It just gives the impression they stand for nothing.
  20. I aggressively hated the material they gave her character. I just couldn't stop myself. They immediately made two huge mistakes: - involving her with Roger, who by that time had become the most unwatchable character on the show for me - yet again degrading Delia for her benefit, as Randall Edwards was very adept at making that punishing material work in her favor I can't even be objective enough to go back and re-watch. It's a shame as Maureen Garrett should have been a real coup for the show. I agree with most of this, especially the part about Bucky, Clem, and Faith.

    He's the best, to me.
  22. I've been, for some reason, spending my time watching the fascinating and disastrous 1994-1995 season of Saturday Night Live. Bruce McCulloch, best known for Kids in the Hall, did four short films for SNL around this time. This one, a very depressing look at the rise and fall of a karaoke singer, has a moment where the song he does every time is taken by someone else, someone much better. She is uncredited, but I recognized her immediately. It's Sandra P Grant, the unfortunate Rachel Gannon #3. Nice to be able to associate her with something beyond the trash she got on OLTL. https://streamable.com/j2vj0 I love seeing soap actors pop up in random places. Another episode from this season had the woman who played Eleni's grandmother on Guiding Light appear for a bit part.
