  1. I agree that Burke was unconventionally attractive. He might have been better off in another era (maybe the early '80s or mid or late '90s), but the writing was really the issue. I'm reminded of how Duke was initially abrasive too, but you could relate a little more, especially as he was dealing with town saints like Lily.
  2. Thanks. That's it. Clearly, they have no plans to upload the episode. I just hope it's around somewhere after Kay Arnold kept it preserved all those years. So frustrating.
  3. Someone uploaded this promo that used to be up a while ago and I remember us having some laughs over - rare to see a big promo (with a jingle, no less) devoted to such a temporary, forgettable character...the truly iconic Gail. I suppose this is an indication that Marland had more plans for Sean than what ended up happening. I did like Burke in his more comedic role on OLTL but they made a mistake in overemphasizing his volatile, harsh demeanor as Sean, especially as on a show which at that time had so many placid people, it made you think he was about to start ripping heads off. I don't think so, although I may be wrong. This was just closing credits, IIRC. But you may be right as it's been a while.
  4. The GOP loves nothing more than failing upwards. Performative, desperate trash rises to the top, over and over and over. One bright spot was that shitstain Dave Williams, who commandeered the state party to help push his campaign and ran on platforms like burning the Pride flag, bombed out. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/republican-who-called-for-pride-flags-to-be-burned-loses-gop-primary-race-in-colorado_n_667b0990e4b017bda37abbd1 Many of Trump's endorsed candidates lost tonight, although you won't hear the media talking about that. Here's another headcase: MAGA Candidate Mark Burns Says Those Promoting 'LGBTQ Indoctrination' Should Be Executed for Treason | Right Wing Watch
  5. The writing was degrading beyond belief, and I felt like Kimberley and Beverlee both lost some luster with the one-note material. Making it worse was that Nick had all the personality of a dead fish - a very sanctimonious dead fish. I kept hoping someone, anyone, would put a foot up his ass.
  6. Thanks. You can definitely tell the difference with the available 79/80 material of Willis.
  7. That's true. I wonder if Lemay may have added those lines to have more of a psychological element to justify himself the lurid melodrama he claimed to hate. I have not seen much of those actors but from what I have seen I share your views. Bailey in particular, while competent, feels very workmanlike, very leading man on a short lived '60s/'70s action show. The various comments from you and @Mona Kane Croft yesterday (and thank you both for such detailed replies) reminded me of how much the subtle and layered writing Lemay prided himself on was undercut by the casting decisions he and Rauch made. It's so clear from what was being set up with Willis, and just the future of the show in general, that they made a big mistake with Alice. It's as if some of the early casting successes like Victoria Wyndham or Douglass and Beverlee made them get too confident. I will be curious to ever possibly get to see Carole Lamonte in some Munker clips, as Lemay seemed to think of her extremely highly. Some of the actors who might have best worked with the writer Lemay saw himself as being, like Richard Bekins, only came along near the very end of his tenure. I never will understand the decision to kill off Lee. I'm glad she was at least remembered a few times.
  8. I wonder if they may have planned to do the old Marie/Tommy Horton story where Susan ended up getting involved with him and neither knew they were siblings? What did fans think of Lynn Milgrim as Susan? I know she was panned during her time on ATWT (in a very different part...).
  9. That will be the best part. She shouldn't be there just to ask people for the 50th time whether Heather and her poisoned hip are worth saving. Won't this be the first time they've worked together since '99? Or was she there any the last time he was? My memory is awful.
  10. With Nene likely not coming back, Kandi gone, Kenya gone, Porsha supposedly not getting to do a lot of the filming that the show had anticipated, they may try to get Phaedra or Sheree again...unless they get truly desperate and Kim Z returns (wasn't that some rumor).
  11. Before Jamaal Bowman loses tonight (very possibly by a crushing margin), here's a quote that sums up so much of the stunt-laden dead end left. Jamaal Bowman’s Primary Is Confusing Progressives to the Very End - NOTUS (Allbritton Journalism Institute)
  12. Thanks. Yes, 3-4 months I could see.
  13. Does that mean Siobhan is returning from the dead? I know it says "long run," but the more I hear about this the more I wonder if this is just a temporary return. If he has relocated to Ireland with 5-6 kids and a wife (however many kids they had), he's not going to want to be back in LA that long.
  14. I wonder if that story is still happening. (if it isn't, I don't blame JJ - I just blame the show's general fear-based approach) I wonder if that's mutual. What does JJ even do now? Go on the road? Based on the mixed response I've seen to the news so far I wouldn't be that shocked if they end up dropping him the way they drop most of their toys that aren't from Frank's OLTL days.
  15. I do see some praise for him on Twitter, so maybe that's their place (then again if it were we'd be getting a lot more of some other characters).
  16. One of many changes ITV made in the early '10s that destroyed what was left of the show.
  17. Absolutely. It was one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard on a soap from someone who was meant to be a hero. It's JR Ewing-speak. Anyway, I'm happy for everyone who wanted JJ back. I do think he is a good (if overrated) actor, but I feel like the moment for him to have any impact on the canvas has been gone for many years now. I feel like characters along the lines of Dante now fill his role, and Dante is barely used as it is. Maybe he can get Laura to dump Heather off in a clinic somewhere in Siberia. At least the current show will remember to not have erotic fantasies of Carly with him, presumably.
  18. Thanks! (and to everyone else who answered as well). I'll mention it to the uploader. I knew the mother was familiar...should have remembered from Bob Newhart.
  19. Thank you. That sounds very poignant. Sometimes I wonder if John sabotaged his marriage to Pat because of all the grief and guilt over outliving his daughter.
  20. Great work @slick jones and such a classy tribute to Barbara Rucker. This is the first time I've ever seen Leisure Suit Larry reference in a soap listing... If you ever need a trivia question - the reason Tom Arnold hosted his second 1992 SNL episode is because Gary Oldman, the original host, dropped out after Malcolm Macdowell (who had an infamous episode in 1980) told him it was a bad idea. I hope we can find out more on the later life paths of Lionel Johnston and Christopher J Brown as I've become curious now, especially after finding Brown endearing in his AW clips. So I guess A Case of Rape had two AW Lemay alums (I think John Fitzpatrick was in it too.
  21. Is this Mary Frann (and Jane Rose as her mother)? It doesn't entirely look like her but the voice and some of the facial structure remind me of her.
  22. Sorry - the mention of color photos to replace B&W on AWHP. The first Barbara Weaver (I believe) and the first Angie also have B&W photos on AWHP so I was wondering if they'd be added in along with the new photos of Brown's Michael, the first Willis, etc. Thank you for answering my question about Willis. Did John mention Lee much after she was killed?
  23. MSW got a brief mention on Neighbours last week. Erinsborough had a spate of poisonings, and a very impulsive and messy young woman, Holly, (wrongly) decided the podcaster endlessly "reporting" on the crime was responsible and tried to get evidence against the podcaster. She ended up pepper spraying the podcaster and got arrested before charges were dropped. Her father, Karl, warned her against her "Jessica Fletcher" activities. Holly's response was, "Who's Jessica Fletcher?"
  24. https://apnews.com/article/assange-plea-deal-wikileaks-justice-department-d329ba4614dbfa77b5eb968d07fd9bd0 Naturally there's been a number of claims Biden did this to try to help him against Trump. I have my doubts - the "free speech" advocates who are groupies for Assange will just find some reason to doubt his deal (I'm already seeing some say "oh something isn't right") or claim they need to vote for Trump so Trump will pardon him. There was an article saying the PM of Australia had asked Biden to send Assange back to Australia due to his failing health. I could see Biden deciding to be compassionate, and possibly give Trump a poke in the eye.
