  3. I put a short Fiona article in the GL thread.
  4. She basically was written as a savior, knowing and wise, although she had some fun moments too. The biggest issue for me was Blair in relation to her - I didn't care about Blair/Max and didn't like the idea (with either Blair) of her being this tramp who couldn't compare to his true love. In the long run I think Max and Luna would have been better as friends. Malone had no idea what to do with them when he finally married them, and giving them twins was especially baffling.
  5. They should have done more with Luna/Cord.
  6. Characters who are there to nag the quasi-sociopaths about how they aren't good enough people tend to have a somewhat short self life, because that role is so easily filled.
  7. I do wonder if they took a lot of the dialogue they may have given Palmer and gave it to her instead. Even if he had less to do, what a great scene when he just walks out (Dixie: Go Uncle Palmer!) There are also some very sexy scenes with Tad and Liza at the start of the 1/9 episode. I'd forgotten about how they smoldered. I don't know what happened which took that away, but it was the show's loss. I guess it would have gone away if they'd gotten together as a real couple, but I wish we'd had the chance to find out. Had anyone else forgotten about Hayley's stint running Enchantment? Even Kelly Ripa used to rag on that. It's ludicrous.
  8. Isn't Nolan just some recurring character anyway? They must be writing him out as just a plot point. If he's just staying around as some whiny sap that's probably good for Emily, keeping her with more of an edge. EVC is very good at this type of brittle character - it's what she should have had on Brothers & SIsters.

  10. I had a question about the scenes where the parents are arguing with Michael and the principal and a few others. Do you know who is playing the father whose daughter walked out of class, and he keeps saying slurs until Dixie is speechless? That actor looks so familiar to me. I think he played a racist cop. And who is playing the principal? I didn't appreciate at the time how good the setup was for the opposing sides on this issue. Of course the biggest bigots were short-term characters, and longtime bigot/snob Enid, but you still had Opal in a believable role, and Trevor's reactions were also believable. The best part of the whole thing for me was seeing Stuart in the middle of the drama. I love the scene where he reminds Enid of the nasty way she'd treated Cindy, and that this will be a WAR. Enid, a little flustered, blows him off. It's a fantastic use of history, and such a wonderful performance from David Canary. I love his work in this story, little scenes like him staring open-mouthed at all the chaos around him. As good as Canary was as Adam, I think his best work, at least up to the early 00's or so, was as Stuart.

  12. I don't remember that, mostly because I skipped most Lily scenes, as I thought she was a boring whiner and preferred Heather Rattray in the role. I did love Hans, I thought he was a very chilling villain, probably the most chilling ever on ATWT, or most soaps. Just compare him to garbage on GL at this time like the hit lady George who got her arm slammed in a car door by spunky Lucy Cooper. Your comments are making me want to post more articles, so I really should. I know I have some interviews with most of the short-lived characters seen in the 1979 episodes. This was Hollen's second short term role on ATWT, about 15 years apart.
  13. I have that Weekly somewhere...or did... I think Hans put a bomb in the car, as part of that Kingsley/Malta plot I can't remember. Was Rebecca Hollen's character killed? What a waste.
  14. I barely manage to watch. If you want to see stunts with zero characterization, and stories that have zero impact or followthrough, then give it a try.

  16. That clip always makes me feel a little sad, as they were building up the Mendorra story yet Andrea wouldn't be there to play it (the 1990 one, not that 2008 story). I wonder if they had any idea she was leaving. It's funny because her last two years on OLTL at that time, she had months and months off, she just said the show did a good job of making it work for the story so her absence wasn't noticeable.
  17. A lot of 1983-1989 is available on Youtube. Someone is putting up the 1977 episodes day by day, from where they ended on Soapnet - if you want the link just PM me. GH began directly influencing Ryan's Hope around 1979, probably in a far more blatant way than any other soap on ABC. It did the show very, very few favors. I would guess that those at ABC did not "get" RH and never did, and once they owned the show, they moved in.

  19. Thanks for all this info So Eva is sort of like Amanda from Melrose Place. What do you think of VL bringing back the old incest theme from their early days? Are the ratings any better? I read somewhere they weren't doing that again where they have stories in two different countries.
  20. Thanks for all this detail and the photos. Is Eva a transsexual?
