  1. September 1974 TV Star Parade
  2. Romney won the Washington caucuses by a pretty big margin. Looks like he is finally "inevitable" after all. Cue the media swoon.
  3. Lots of troubled teens in Bay City.
  4. Claudia Lonow has a new sitcom pilot (behind the camera).
  5. I guess I wonder about debts, and all that. Judy Garland died with sizeable debts, because she burnt through so much.

  7. Maybe the family approached Oprah. I'm sure they could use the money. I just hope Bobbi Kristina gets the help she needs.

  9. Did anyone else ever feel like Carly was never quite the same after she returned in 1997? I think it's down to them taking away some of the vulnerability she had in her first run.
  10. I can't imagine this is the way Oprah expected her network to go. The only part of her network which is getting interest is her show, and she's chasing down interviews with a girl whose mother hasn't been gone a month.
  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq8Wz78cK6U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZLV1eqx-r4&feature=channel Did anyone else at the time just laugh and laugh at Rosanna's gambling addiction? My favorite was her in her wedding dress, playing slots as Mike waited and waited.
  12. Romney isn't progressive. He says what he needs to do in order to get elected. He did that in Massachusetts and he is doing that now. If you read some of what he felt before he began running for office, in terms of gay rights and abortion, then you will see how liberal he is. http://thinkprogress.org/lgbt/2011/11/16/368369/romney-flashback-homosexuality-is-perverse-and-reprehensible/ http://jezebel.com/5851050/the-curious-case-of-mitt-romney-an-abortion-and-eliza-dushkus-mom Castle wanted to get elected in a Republican primary for Senate. Good luck with that... Collins has never been known as all that moderate. She is more conservative than Snowe. Snowe is only moderate by today's standards.
  13. Collins and Snowe aren't moderate. The idea of moderate has moved so far to the right that Eisenhower is likely now seen as a liberal extremist. As for ObamaCare itself, I don't think it is perfect, or even close. Unfortunately there seems to be no alternative, beyond giving the rich tax breaks and letting everyone else pay for it. I still have no idea what Romney, the party's savior, objects to in Obamacare. Here is a 2009 op-ed where once again he supports something which he now opposes. 2009! http://2012.talkingp...009.php?ref=fpa
  14. I loved that article (and that series of articles). Thanks for sharing it, it's a nice memory.
  15. Great catch. I didn't know that.
  16. The David Brooks' of the world annoy me because they enabled the GOP for many years. They often still do. One of the most corrosive elements in today's media is the "both sides do it." The anguished need to find an equivalence to GOP extremism. This is what some call "Broderism," because David Broder (RIP) always liked to remind people that we should all be friends and that gosh, why can't we get along. This causes the center to move more and more towards the right. Let's look at Limbaugh. He called a woman a slut. He said he wanted to see her having sex. He said she had boyfriends lined up around the block. What is the GOP response? Well, Democrats are mean too, it's their fault. Or, from the party's "moderate" standard bearer, Mitt - oh, I wouldn't have said it that way. What WOULD you have said? How is that type of language in any way acceptable? Is there a nicer way to call her a whore? http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/03/tipping-point-gopers-start-to-turn-on-rush-limbaugh.php?ref=fpa
  17. I know Eileen's Ashley was a more aggressive Ashley than Brenda's, but did Eileen's Ashley ever really have a serious confrontation with other women in her first run? Or is that something they adjusted to the character after Shari Shattuck's...interpretation, and Eileen playing a villain on DAYS? Did Brenda ever have any good confrontations with others?
  18. Yes. Susan doesn't seem to age. Jessica does but has that great face which wears it well. I felt like OLTL and ATWT were sister shows, in some ways, and one of them was that the actresses aged very gracefully.
  19. I keep forgetting about Leanna's history with Ashley - little things like trying to kill her and stalking her ex.
  20. The only problem is when you look at them you feel kind of old and out of shape.
  21. Was the backstage drama over ageism issues, or some personality thing with Quinn Redeker? There's a lot you could do with Leanna. I always have crazy ideas for her - I would have her host some show that is half tabloid and half morality tale, maybe with someone like Billy. A new feud with Jill would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately the show doesn't seem to do "fun" anymore, unless you count the hilarity of the Angelinos.
  22. She ages but never does so in a bad way. She's quite a rarity. Both she and Fiona are similar in that way, along with Andrea Evans.
