  4. David was just a smooth talker for his first 2-3 years on the show wasn't he? Do you think they should have had it where he suddenly had a past of murdering women, or should it have just been more gradual, where he was slowly driven to kill?
  5. I was never a fan of theirs but considering all the obstacles they overcame, it's kind of cheap that they ended with that Dear Cricket letter, and the Phyllis saga. I can't imagine how their fans felt.
  6. Thanks. I never can keep track of any of this. I didn't realize Michael was helped by a groupie, and had forgotten they repeated the Danny-set-up stories. Funny that Michael was not killed off the way David was.
  7. Who was Rebecca again? I have seen the episode where David confronts Vivian in her apartment (great cliffhanger) but did they show him killing her or did Nina ever find out? I wish that the early Leanne was available to see. It's so tough for me to imagine her as crazy. I totally forgot about them ruining the Nina's son story. Ugh. I wish they could say Ronan was lying (they already did once) and just drop it.
  8. That's so sweet. I always end up thinking of this as Ryan's Hope Day.
  9. The stupidity of all of this is that if people believe in abstinence only, then many who are trying to abstain will be drawn to porn. I think the next stap is that the true believers will also say, "No porn, and no masturbation."
  10. So Ashley never did find out? Wow. I was never sure. Around the time Leanna was pursuing John - do you think they should have had him marry her instead of remarrying Jill? - I kept wondering if Ashley knew about the murder attempts. Clearly John didn't! At the time it annoyed me but looking back I respect Bill Bell for leaving some secrets secret. Not only is it very true to life, but sometimes uncovering the secrets doesn't really lead to any good drama (like when they made Lily Malcolm's daughter). Alex had a real edge early on which Leanna didn't seem to but I can see where she would inspire the character. So Lisa wasn't psycho from the start? That sister of the woman David killed, did he also kill her? I assume he did, but I don't remember. At the time I got this story so mixed up with the one a few years later with Michael Baldwin and the woman he married. I can never remember what happened to her. Does anyone know when Y&R started being affected by the 88 strike (although I know people have said Y&R and B&B were barely affected)?
  11. Sorry - I thought you were replying to me, since you quoted me.
  12. I don't understand how commonplace means 365 million Americans. Of 365 million, many support Obama, many don't care. We weren't even talking about them. Of those who oppose Obama, I do think racial attacks are common in criticism of Obama. Not everyone bases their view of him on race, but many do. It has been a constant presence for his entire term, from the birther stuff, to the secret Muslim stuff, to "food stamp President," to the ugly e-mails and jokes and bumper stickers.
  13. Racism is pretty commonplace in criticism of Obama. More than once I've gotten e-mails which compare Michelle Obama to Cheetah. A federal judge sent out an e-mail to people which said Obama's mother had sex with a dog. If Romney has a long record against gay rights, then I'd think he would be proud to be called a homophobe. He seems fine with working with a man who put up billboards attacking PBS for showing a pro-gay special.
  14. I would hope anyone would call that bumper sticker racist. In an ideal world, most of the conservative criticism of Obama would not be racially tinged. Unfortunately that has not happened. I don't believe any white President would ever have to spend 4 years with some of the most influential members of today's politics accusing them of not being born in America.
  15. Thank you for all the lovely photos.
  16. I had forgotten that promo. It's just hilarious. I do think by that time they'd moved her into a more comedic route. The Judy Tenuta of daytime.
  17. That type of garbage is everywhere. I have gotten racist e-mails from people several times, all under the guise of "humor." Not to mention the constant, sickening attacks against Michelle Obama, all for daring to not be anorexic and white. What I'd like to know is how many of those same people would have said if you insulted the last president, then you hated America.

  19. Don't you think that the 6 year difference between these helped open that door in the first place?
  20. Did the Democrats run any ads saying any of this about McCain?
  21. I'm not sure they're really the same thing.
