  1. Kansas now takes the final step to becoming a hate state. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/conservatives-win-big-in-kan-senate-primary-races/2012/08/08/bcd5fa4a-e12c-11e1-8d48-2b1243f34c85_story.html
  2. Lesli Kay for Stacey is great casting.
  3. I never knew Passions even had its own talk show on Direct TV. How long did that last? I thought Juliet Mills wasn't on much of the DIrect TV run. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwprFF5IcsE&feature=channel&list=UL
  4. Who was this sitting in the chair? I think they called her Jo, or Jill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtwQYYvxt4I
  5. Shane looks a lot like Eileen Fulton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zbwk3cQEwA8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDJ_Y1d9-C8&feature=autoplay&list=ULw3gF1Y6H4fA&playnext=3
  6. That is terrible Photoshop.
  7. A lot of the magazines, especially from that time, had errors.
  8. Great chapter. Love the idea of Kirkland running against Grant. Should be juicy drama.
  9. Oops I should have replied to that here
  10. That baby died soon after birth. But this could always be AU (alternate universe).
  11. I never understood that either. They seemed reluctant to kill off most major characters. In Terror Island it was only Mark (who I would have kept).
  12. True. I think Sunset Beach had the chance to be different but it often felt forced, instead of a genuine countercultural style. They should have gone with some writers who weren't from the soap grind. Maggie DePriest should not have been headwriter.
  13. No soaps seem to do well now but I do think if they'd launched the show with Passions they may have been a good bloc, at least if you get past SuBe's dull early plots.
  14. WLS put up an article from Daily TV Serials (a great magazine) about the Viki/Joe love story. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2011/08/joeviki.html
  15. I've never known what was so bad about those photos. The short white dress is not well-fitted and is matronly, but the one with the big hat is kind of fun, and I like the red. Based on some of her fashions over the years, I'm sure they had worse photos for the year than that.
  16. Thanks for reading it.
  17. I hadn't seen most of those (aside from the first two). Does anyone else think Deborah Goordich looks a lot like Jill Larson there?
  18. Second Chances lost most of their sets in the 1994 earthquake.
  19. Lovely reunion with the Hutchins family. So many twists and turns with Reginald - I wasn't expecting him to kick Allen out, or move Nicole into his place.
  20. She was also brought over to the show's short-lived spinoff, Hotel Malibu. I never watched a lot of the latter but I did enjoy Second Chances.
  21. I am American. I got a few issues in a sale. How long did that Pam character stay around?
  22. I wonder if they just ran out of ideas for him. Hadn't he been bad, then good, scarred, etc.? Wasn't his firing the reason Charlotte Ross and Camilla Scott left? I do wonder what Reilly would have done with him.
  23. Thanks for posting those. I think Annie was the role of a lifetime for Buxton, as she's a very unique actress who doesn't sit most parts. A show like Sunset Beach rode the wave of the larger-than-life primetime soaps which were popular in the UK, as they filled a certain fantasy which some British people probably had about rich Americans. I think those days are probably over though, as British TV now has plenty of car crash stuff.
