  1. July 1991 Weekly. Scanning Weeklys is my penance in life.
  2. Why the "liberal" media are pushing for Romney. http://www.tnr.com/blog/plank/109028/the-liberal-media-in-love-our-trajectory
  3. More minimizing of pregnancy by rape. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/10/did_he_miss_the_boat.php
  4. Last I saw, Todd Akin (who has since said his opponent isn't "ladylike" and behaves like a dog) is tied in the polls. The sad thing is Mourdock could also still win, in spite of saying no woman should ever consider terminating a pregnancy by rape. These men don't even say, "I'm not a woman, so I can't give the final answer, but my view is..." They repeatedly speak for women. I guess they would say they're speaking for the unborn, but what it really sounds like is they treat women as brood mares. This year has had a long string of men talking about how rape pregnancies are for the best and that if a woman didn't want to be impregnated via rape, she would be able to stop it while she is being raped. This feels like someone dipping their toe in the water. I think next year we're going to see a big media push and "studies" to make the public support the idea that abortion should not be legal in any circumstance.
  5. I can see where they'd feel that way, although they barely tried (I think Mary and Jason only had story together for a few months).
  6. A big thank you for having one of my favorite Big Brother contestants, Jen Johnson, on Revenge!
  7. All you need to know about David Gregory is that he was a backup dancer for Karl Rove. The media shills are an embarrassment and I blame them for much of the destruction of this country in the last fifteen years. I will never forget making the mistake of watching MSNBC during the "Mission Accomplished" fiasco, and getting nothing more than info that Chris Matthews was a size queen.
  8. I think people have always been looking for a reason to support Romney. They needed any reason. They finally settled on one - he's not tripping over his feet. He kept fumbling over himself. Now he's just gone straight to evasion and delusion and this passes as reason. For instance, the idea that the UN will arrest the President of Iran. Even if that happens, which...um...I don't think it will, why is a Republican counting on the UN (which conservatives have loathed since the time it was formed) to help solve our problems? I can imagine John Bolton somewhere frothing at the mouth. But because so many just want Obama out, they will keep quiet until the day after the election. As for Billy Graham, I question how much input he has on anything his name is attached to. His son seems to control everything, and we know how his son feels.
  9. Whoo! Hollyoaks has now finally, finally given up the very thin pretense that Brendan was wrong to beat Ste black and blue for months on end. Everyone's favorite mushmouthed sociopath is now going to get an apology from his favorite punching bag for ever being upset at those broken ribs and bloody noses. Ste is just like Brendan - hopelessly violent and unable to ever change - so Brendan is off the hook. All sexytime, no sadface. Most importantly of all, Hollyoaks is teaching the very valuable, and very rarely told, lesson that gay men are damaged beyond repair and when they get violent, they're just saying "I love you" with their fists. I bet Kieron Richardson will pout and simper on cue and this will be the sweetest shaming session ever! http://emmettscanlan...9th-oct-onwards
  10. How long did Erica have the hair she's sporting in the July 18 episode? I'm not a huge fan - I think it's very aging, and 1979 sitcommish.
  11. Reality shows seem to knock out a lot of soaps. It's too bad. It sounds like AWZ has been drifting for a while, perhaps viewers were looking for a reason to go. Is Deniz leaving? What is the threesome story?
  12. If that was all it took to give Romney a big swing, something else would have done it. Gore had debates that were mercilessly savaged by the press and he still managed to have a huge comeback against Bush in spite of Bush being favored for much of the year. Romney has money, media, voter suppression, and he's running against a man who is feared and loathed by many. The only surprise I've had in this is that he hasn't been doing even better.
  13. Was the 1987 one on yours? I must have missed it. I guess these scenes seem different when watched on their own.
  14. Thanks. I will. Were all these Newman clips from your episodes?
  15. Oh you have that full episode up? I missed that one.
  16. There's some good Leanna/Nikki tension here, along with Douglas giving the "you can't compare" type face to Leanna at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-0Hfbg4PE0&feature=channel&list=UL
  17. Amazing. Actual ranch footage, and some decor I don't remember. I guess they changed it by the time I started watching. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-xoIGfwz6k&feature=channel&list=UL
  18. Watching that Christmas episode I had a tough time believing in Cain's great fondness for Asa. I think by spring or summer 1993 he and Tina were at war with Asa over custody of the kids. It made me wonder if they were planning to reveal Asa as Cain's father, then changed their mind when Christopher Cousins wanted to leave. That clip had so much heart, especially the scenes with Billy talking to the other boy, and the scenes where Bo is completely jaded following Sarah's death. Starting around 1996 or so, OLTL rarely had any heart at all.
  19. Beltway spin - when the Democrat wins, it's a draw. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1012/82735.html?hp=t1_3
  20. I think they should have kept Rex too, although they clearly had no idea what to do with him (as they didn't with John Abbott) by that time. I think they remarried he and Katherine too quickly, as he had good chemistry with Jill and Leanna. I wish we could see some material from the time of these promos. It's hard to believe sometimes Nikki went from trauma to trauma to trauma to being Victor's great love.
  21. I think he comes across badly here, especially when he gets physical with Opal. This arm-grabbing was something that angered me about AMC for years, as Edmund and Mateo later did this over and over. I mostly just thought Brooke was the other woman who interfered with true love, but it doesn't seem like that here. I wonder if they only reunited Tad and Dixie because MEK was leaving.

  23. That's beautifully said, BKuzak, although I would rather believe she's not with Clint at this point.
