  1. Four new videos up. This one has some "wild" dancing from Betsy's friend, who reminds me of Hillary Bauer. Gee, I wonder why ATWT wasn't known as a young person's soap...
  2. RIP Congressman CW Bill Young. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/bill-young-dies-at-82-98546.html?hp=l2
  3. RIP former House Speaker Tom Foley. http://www.politico.com/story/2013/10/tom-foley-dies-98529.html?hp=r2
  4. For me a character can be a strong lead without having as much focus on their love life. I think it just makes you less of a character. Dee was the younger lead heroine on ATWT in the early 80s, but they never defined her beyond her love life, and the character paid the price.
  5. I just wonder if Betsy ever needed to be a romantic heroine. I guess the show did need Meg Ryan's appeal, so a recast worked in the long run, but I really prefer Lindsey Frost, was more thoughtful, wasn't a romantic heroine at all, and reminded me more of Davidson. But I guess most fans preferred Ryan types.
  6. I like Daryl a great deal, but sometimes I feel like the character is so overhyped. I just don't feel that great love that others feel for him.
  7. I'm mostly with Khan, in that I said goodbye to GL several times, years before it ended (the last time probably being when Jonathan came in). I still miss it, and I still think it could be revived. With that said, I'm glad it at least got an ending I was satisfied with, unlike ATWT, which still angers me three years later.
  8. I read that Sheree is going to have one of those Life After episodes on TV One.
  9. You're probably right. I wonder if this is the first time a reality show has documented someone becoming famous from their show, and then is documenting them as their star dims somewhat and they go back to "normal" life...still on said reality show.
  10. The health crisis part reminded me of Cynthia's health problems. I wonder if she didn't want those to be on the show.
  11. Another Lincoln preview. http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/10/16/walking-dead-andrew-lincoln/
  12. Maybe Nene could bring Sheree back on the show...I'd enjoy seeing her again...
  13. I know what you mean. We're already hearing the spin about how this is actually good for them, because they're unified now (even though nearly 150 of them didn't vote for the bill). And of course, it's all proof that Republicans in Congress aren't conservative enough. http://www.nationaljournal.com/daily/for-house-republicans-lessons-in-loss-20131016?mrefid=HomepageRiver http://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/lesson-learned-here-s-what-conservatives-are-taking-away-from-the-shutdown Joe Biden is the Muffin Man. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/photo-biden-brings-muffins-for-returning-epa-workers
  14. I think what incenses me the most is for years the GOP mantra was, "Pay your bills," and then when the default approached, the Tom Coburn types started basically saying that defaulting on money the country owes isn't so bad at all. I've never heard anything like it.
  15. Thanks. I always thought that was a bizarre story, and an especially bizarre exit story.
  16. That's true. I don't talk to any Republicans I know now, not about politics, so I don't know how much traction the national monument stuff got. It just seems like there's been a shift away from the GOP claiming they are acting for the people to claiming they are acting for those in their district. The new message seems to be, louder than ever, that most of America can !@#$%^&*] off.
  17. I mind it mostly because I think it becomes a catch-all and a lot of good people get dragged down along with the Americans who genuinely deserve scorn. In this case, I'm so disgusted by the whole thing because we know that a majority of the country did not vote for hostage crises every few months. That was supposed to be the whole point of the 2012 elections. Yet, thanks to gerrymandering, nothing will ever improve.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiyGT_xkw28
  19. I just can't believe we'll be doing this again in a few months. I hate when people say other countries must think we're stupid and must be disgusted by us. Some part of me just instinctively feels hurt when people say that. But what else can people be saying at this point? We must be a laughingstock. And the media is likely working overtime to try to tell us how this is great for Chris Christie and Ted Cruz.
  20. I'd rather see some other soap actors do that than the projects I've seen them on...
  21. I don't watch soaps for couples, and I wasn't heavily invested in anyone at that time as I had only started watching a year or so earlier, but I mostly remember the show seeming cheap and dull, moribund. I never got the Antonio hype, and Andy just seemed kind of weak to me.
  22. Between Daniel and Amy Acker that show will be gone in no time. Good for Claudia. Too bad the show is [!@#$%^&*].
  23. The people that are most pushing for this won't feel the pain. The people who are struggling the most and have no backups will feel this. That's why I'm so frightened about this. I'm frightened because once we cross that line, we are going to get 24/7 media blasting and far right blasting that this isn't a big deal, who cares, why is anyone upset? And default will become the new normal. Even worse, because of gerrymandering, Republicans will still control the House, and with money and media power, they might take the Senate too. They get all the reward and the public get all the hurt.
  24. I don't know if they ever would have risked it; I thought it was just said to show what a bigot Richard was. I do wonder now though.
