The Politics Thread
The "liberal" media once again doing angel kisses with gay men who are virulently anti-gay. Before you read anything from that overrated hack Ezra Klein, know who he hires. http://americablog.com/2014/03/hipster-homophobia-ezra-klein-hires-jerry-falwell-loving-gay-bashing-gay-vox.html RIP former Florida governor Reuben Askew. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/former-florida-gov-askew-dies

I never knew he was on that show. Speaking of A - Digest picking the hot guys for each show.

That's interesting. I wonder if he was in any other Hollywood movies.

Dynasty Discussion Thread
This is so hilarious, and not exactly common for a soap magazine at this time. A July 1985 DIgest report about watching Dynasty in what is I'm pretty sure a gay club.

Do you know what the song is in that Cruz/Eden scene at the end of this episode?

She could. It's too bad they didn't use that more often.

Did the story about Cruz's brother losing their mother's house happen oncamera? I love that beep-beep-beep-beep music cue they use in scenes like the Gina/Keith scene early in this. It's so of that era, and so Bubble Bobble, but is soothing.

Short Search for Tomorrow clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVhUnFgcGQ0 I love Liza's bitchiness toward that awful Rusty.

You have good taste. I still can't believe they had sex in that hot tub. And Cruz's ridiculous melodramatic "I can't wait" faces as he tore off his clothes. I had to laugh. Too bad the realtor didn't pop in to ask for a threesome. Did Mark ever appear in the convent story or did they just say they'd found his corpse?

Love of Life Discussion Thread
I'm sorry to hear this. I didn't know he was Captain Video. From the little I've seen of him on LOL he was stalwart, solid, and I could see why he was popular with viewers. I wonder if they ever asked him back when they brought Paul back from the dead. Thanks for letting us know about this. We're lucky that several episodes of early/mid 50s Love of Life exist. Here's one with him.

Thanks. Watching the 7/15/88 episode... Kimberly McArthur isn't bad at the family stuff but at drama, she's just flat, no charisma, no real connection with the family. She looks like Jane Sibbett, who had exited the show a year before this. I love that the realtor is hitting on Cruz and when he says he's married, she casually asks if he will cheat. He casually says no, and she says well, I like you anyway, let's get you this house. And he says OK. You gotta love the 80s. That Natalie Cole song when Eden walks into the old house is terrific. I love the comedy scene of her flashing that maid (?). Just a throwaway scene too. You don't get that now. The convent story is so confusing. Are they really building a story off made up backstory with characters who hadn't been on the show in several years? NLG looks baffled. Gina surprisingly self-reflective there. You could see how much Brandon loved her.

I've seen it on Youtube, I just can't remember the exact video. It's likely from late 1985 or early 1986.

PrinceofSunspear, I know you've talked some about the books vs shows. I'm sure you don't want to rehash that, so I won't ask you to, but have you ever watched those videos of the woman on Youtube with the pink hair and the robot? She vents a lot about that subject. I don't agree with all she says (I don't hate Sansa), but it's interesting. I'm on way to finishing up season 1...in a while I guess, as I am watching through Netflix. I just finished the one yesterday where Ned was arrested. (I'm mostly spoiled up to late season 3 and some of the book stuff, although watching is different than reading)- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
So who were your favorite and least favorite SB recasts?- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
If only she'd had the career Kimberly McArthur has had. I haven't watched that yet but Cruz and Eden having sex in some home they're looking at skeeves me out a little. I'm curious to see more of the nun, as they originally wanted to cast a love interest for Mason, for another Mason/Mary redux. During the strike they cast that actress (Jane Frelich, I think) instead. I wonder why the show never realized that without Harley Kozak there just was no point in redoing that story, what, 3, 4 times??- GH: Classic Thread
