  1. Probably, although I think with Nick a lot of it was sins of the past/bad reputation ruining his present day, along with self-hatred or class envy or what have you.
  2. Is this supposed to be the same place?
  3. Nick was an anti-hero, not a bad boy.
  4. Colleen Broomwall got back into acting about 5-6 years ago, although I'm not sure she did much. Her photos from that time look so much like she was in the 1991 episodes (just older, obviously - I mean she has the same hair).
  5. She has a Youtube channel. At the start of the year she put up a reel of some theater work and a very cheap looking film version of Gift of the Magi, with what I swear sounds like Dark Shadows music cues. She also has a commercial reel. Look for a familiar face in the Hallmark ad.
  6. That's it, really. Even here, I wouldn't say so much that Lorie had the power, as much as there was a mutual respect. Kay Alden and Jack Smith would not write Victor as having any genuine respect for women, and the narrative backed that up. I greatly enjoyed that Victor/Lorie scene because it was two adults who flirted and tested each other a little, but understood the reality. There was nothing like what we'd get today, where Victor would call Lorie a two-timing slut and fans would cheer him on. Victoria Mallory looked stunning here and she does play Leslie with so much dignity and class. I can understand why Bill Bell cut Leslie once JLB left, because she seems to work best with Lorie and not as much on her own, but she truly is a very special lady. The styling was just great here - I think the show had good styling overall until things went a little nuts in the mid-late '80s, but then, that happened everywhere. I feel like Lorie was still such a vibrant character at this point and JLB seemed to have found a certain groove in her performances. I guess she left when she was on top, but I miss what never was.
  7. After. It's the same Dani. IMDB tends to suck and most other sources are spotty. As she was only there a few days, I guess no one remembered. Vicky Dawson is Dee here. I can never remember if she was also Dee in 1986. These scenes would have had a whole other meaning with Jacqueline Schultz, as she and Larry Brygmann had married and divorced in real life.

  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEwDUSp4LZg These little moments that weren't "needed," but help make the show special, are what I loved about this era of ATWT. The awkward reunion between John and Dee. Betsy/Dee/Annie learning about Bob and Kim (I wonder what their reaction would have been if they'd known Susan was involved). "Love is love" - wow, Andy was about 15 years ahead of his time. He should have trademarked that. I'm not sure why they took the time to have a fairly long scene about tolerance of gay people, but I'm glad they did (I have to admit I wondered a few times about Andy...).
  10. He had small roles on other soaps before and after this one. I posted an article a few years back where he talked about his biggest role before Matt - the shoe salesman Lisa had an affair with on ATWT. I also had a photo he took with Burt Reynolds when Burt hosted SNL in 1979. The Doctors taped nearby, and Burt wanted to see him, because his mother was a fan.
  11. When Daryl and Carolyn moved to Oakdale, Frannie became friends with them. She and Daryl were clearly attracted to each other and this upset Carolyn. After her murder, Daryl and Frannie got together a few months later.
  12. I finally watched that 48 Hours piece, and what annoyed me the most is how they kept trying to bait Bill Bell and others on the show to act like they were doing crap and they should just phone it in because fans were too stupid to notice. They just seemed to hate the idea that the soaps were of any quality whatsoever. What they did with Susan Lucci, setting her up to look silly and deluded compared to Linda Dano, was beyond unprofessional. I think my favorite part of the piece was Bill Bell's response to whether they'd keep doing issue stories if they tanked the ratings. Idealistic-but-pragmatic in action. The stuff about Kay Alden came next. Rick Domeier, the Jack auditioner they kind of gave the edit which suggested we should see him as fooling himself, became a QVC host in 1994 and is still there. I guess he got the last laugh.
  13. What was the song she was singing? Was it a show tune? I always forget Patsy Pease was on here until I see her. I wonder if she and John Aniston shared any scenes.
  14. Thanks to saynotoursoap. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzltiQDTZx4 I remember Claire Labine saying that moving away from half-hour soaps was a mistake, because half-hour soaps were the ideal format. Episodes like this make me want to agree with her. There really wasn't a dull moment. Yet nothing felt forced or rushed. The hair and makeup and wardrobe at this point were better than I'd realized - all the women look luminous. Nicolette Goulet looks 100 times more like a star here than she did on Ryan's Hope. Maree Cheatham looks stunning. I love the style they give Lisa Peluso and Doug Stevenson in her dream. And Sherry is gorgeous. And we get to hear her sing! What a wonderful surprise. Sherry plays that melancholy and fragility so well under the "happy" persona. Liza was a traditional heroine, but Sherry doesn't play her that simply. She has such easy chemistry with everyone in this episode. I like how they have Kathy and Liza talk about the man who killed himself and how they feel guilty and want to make amends, even though they were the victims. It's true to life and makes the story less melodramatic. I didn't realize Suzi was still a child at this point. Martin seems like a phony to me (with a dubious accent), so I say more power to her. But seeing Jo happy is nice. I absolutely love that scene with Stephanie and Kathy, Stephanie just being defensive and strident and yet vulnerable, and Kathy not backing down. The characters are all relateable yet also surprisingly complex. This was just great. Even better than I thought it would be. This is a show with bright shining potential.
  15. I think the first was when Snapper was on trial for his father's mercy killing.
  16. There were two new episodes that were put up and then taken down.
  17. Thanks to jam for pointing this out on another forum - per Martha Byrne, Liz Hubbard didn't even know The Doctors was back on TV. I hope she does now, and that she will get to see some of this. https://twitter.com/MarthaByrne10/status/517846520008552448

  20. Here's an episode with HBS. She was a fan of the show and was happy to be cast on it, only to be shocked it was canceled not long after. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eCQv8jo1Us
  21. Did anyone get to see or download today's episodes from the channel? They seem to be gone now, listed as terms of use violation. The channel is still up so hopefully they'll keep uploading, just with a different name now. I hope they may reupload those...
  22. When Barbara was offscreen during Colleen Zenk's maternity leave (in the story, Hal found out that she'd known about Adam's paternity and kept quiet about it for months before Tom and Margo told him Adam was his son), she and Daryl had sex in Rome. This was before Daryl and his wife Carolyn arrived in Oakdale.
