  1. Sarah Wayne Callies has a new pilot. http://www.zap2it.com/blogs/sarah_wayne_callies_cast_in_colony_but_can_she_survive_an_alien_invasion-2014-10
  2. Thanks for reading those articles. I do have that Virginia Dwyer article somewhere, I think. If I do I'll post it. I have the John Considine article and will post that soon. As for who I would have chosen as a recast Alice - like you, I wouldn't have chosen anyone. If I had to choose someone, it would have been someone like Catherine Hicks. I think she would have gotten the warm + funny + tough aspects of the character. I always thought she was miscast as Faith Coleridge because Faith was not that type of character.
  3. I think they got it mixed up with Virgnia Dwyer. They should have put Victoria Dwyer just to add to the absurdity.
  4. I'm not sure she could have played up the purity and goodness of Alice, but she would have been an interesting, potentially great choice.
  5. I found the Daytime TV Stars article I have on the firing, although it may be the one you already mentioned. I'll upload it in a little bit. Who would you have recast Alice with, if you had to choose any actress?
  6. What was your view of each of the Alices after Courtney?
  7. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/11131372/Andrew-Lincoln-interview-The-Walking-Dead-was-a-leap-of-faith.html
  8. And in another world (no pun intended) Robin Wright, who also played a second daughter, long-suffering heroine, would have followed Courtney's path. I uploaded some Reinholt articles when he passed. I'm not sure I put the link here at the time. http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/49414-oltl-aw-secret-storms-george-reinholt-dead-at-73/
  9. They might have, although I'm not sure how much fans cared about her Alice. vetsoapfan, I'm trying to find more of the Reinholt firing stuff I posted, but here's one.
  10. Thanks for finding that for us, AMS. Sucks to have no sound but this is still a treat. Betsy Chernak is on that top 5 or top 10 list of soap characters I've always wanted to see and never think I will. Now I guess I have at least, literally, seen her. Imagine someone who looks like a normal person being cast on a soap role like that today. Here's a brief Daytime TV piece on Linda Fidler Wendell, who took over a few months before cancelation. http://www.welovesoaps.net/2012/03/fidler.html
  11. Oddly enough all of Eileen's Y&R covers from this era seemed to be with very short-lived love interests.
  12. Making Alice a darker character would have been fascinating, and I think Jacquie could have played it, but I wonder if fans would have let it happen.
  13. I'm terrified of what they would even do to Michelle. I have a feeling they'd have her as a shrew and Phil would win Mark Jr. from her side as he learns her son is a true Mitchell. So did you see this week's shows? I read a little about them. Sometimes I'm alarmed at how little interest I have in what EE has become. And it's annoying fans just make matters worse.
  14. I posted a Daytime TV Stars article on the Reinholt firing a few months back. Did you get to see it?
  15. I wonder what the point would even be. Do they need someone else to remind us how inferior everyone is compared to Phil/Shirley/The Carters? If this is for Sonia, why bother? Just have them split offcamera. Given how poor DTC's casting has been they might as well just bring in someone random like Bruce Forsyth.
  16. I think she did, yes. Liz's home in the late '70s - wasn't there a scene at her apartment when she found out John died?
  17. Thanks for the song info. Very pretty. Sherry Mathis could have had the standards career Linda Rondstadt did in the '80s.
  18. That's a nice collage. It's so strange actually seeing Bethel Leslie as Maggie. I can't say she's been some revelation - I still prefer Lydia Bruce - but it's nice to be able to put a name to the face, and I do think she does a decent job in the role.
  19. I'd forgotten they wrote Roger as this abusive or this angry with Holly by this point. I mostly remember JFP as having Roger with more of a soft underbelly toward Holly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSGd1DyJIDI&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw This scene reminds me of why I liked Jeff Philips as Hart (the only Hart I ever had any real interest in, although Marshal Hilliard was OK too - I wasn't watching when Stabb was on there). He was so wooden on AW, and wooden on a lot of GL too, but he had his moments. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VSyc53fo0c&list=UUMzfXBdkJBnz14rGTDBnVDw&index=22
  20. Probably, although I think with Nick a lot of it was sins of the past/bad reputation ruining his present day, along with self-hatred or class envy or what have you.
