  1. I hope whoever bought it might transcribe that 1302 someday, for the fans...
  2. How embarrassing. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/pointergate-kstp-minneapolis-betsy-hodges
  3. I see what you mean, Chris B. I guess RHOBH seems different to me. Other than Lisa, who seems to have a lot of navigating and PR skills, this show seems to do nothing but drag the participants down.
  4. http://marylandreporter.com/2014/11/06/rascovar-how-brown-blew-a-sure-thing/
  5. I can see where the money would be nice, but these are toxic shows, with fanbases that often love to pick and find flaws and get too personally involved. Their lives and families are the property of editing, and production agendas. For someone with a decent career in the industry, I think it's a huge roll of the dice.
  6. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/loretta-lynch-attorney-general-obama-nomination I assume the media/right wing meltdown will commence. This amuses me.
  7. I can see why Lisa Rinna is doing it - she isn't doing a lot else. Eileen, I don't get it, but that's her choice. I tend to think as long as Brandi and Kim and Yolanda, and to a lesser degree Kyle, are around, viewers likely won't return, as it will feel like more of the same. I think Andy Cohen misread what people wanted from the show. The Brandi material last season in particular was so trashy and so poorly communicated and so anathema to the original purpose of ROBH. You went from dinner parties to debates over whether someone is a racist or whether someone who is offended by racist remarks is the real villain. And the Yolanda/Lisa/Brandi stuff is something that should have been good drama on paper but instead just felt messy and dispiriting.
  8. Who is your avatar? He's quite the looker.
  9. So it's a reality show but will be on five days a week? That could be interesting, but the model concept seems so played out.
  10. I guess the state just didn't feel that wave. There are two seriously competitive Congressional districts in CT, and Democrats narrowly held them (they used to belong to Chris Shays and Nancy Johnson, moderate Republicans, until the late 00s). I doubt this helped. http://ctmirror.org/a-tom-foley-press-conference-goes-awry-in-sprague/ Sometimes a candidate is just too messy. That's why I thought Bruce Rauner would lose, but he pulled through. Did Republicans do better than you expected or about what you expected?
  11. The truth is Arya and Sansa are just about at the end of the line too, which is why Arya went on an extended walking tour throughout season 4. But I realize Arya is beloved by most fans, and while Sansa isn't as popular, she's a vital character and is connected to other vital characters like Littlefinger. I will miss Bran but I can see why they made this choice. I just hope his absence won't mean more padding for some other characters who already get more than enough airtime.
  12. I tend to wonder if she and Sherilyn Fenn are "friends," considering that Fenn doesn't hesitate to blame LFB for much of the season 2 perils. TNE got a lot of praise for its crime reporting, but I think their celebrity reporting tended to be on the vague side, as with most tabloid. But who knows. Madchen Amick won't be pulling double duty, as her Lifetime show was canceled. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/11/04/witches-east-end-canceled/
  13. More about Maryland. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/politics/campaign-2014/bs-md-how-hogan-won-20141105-story.html
  14. Media darling Mia Love, who will likely be pushed as a "face" of the party, struggles with the spotlight. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2014/11/05/cnn-hosts-have-baffling-conversation-with-utah-congresswoman-elect-mia-love-on-race-and-gender/?tid=pm_opinions_pop In a great year, she only barely won in spite of a district drawn for Republicans and a heavy push. Considering it's Utah, I'm not surprised. I have a feeling she's going to end up being transferring to FOX News soon unless 2016 is better for her. National Review tells McConnell not to do anything, just make sure Obama fails. Considering he's been doing this for 6 years, I'm sure that won't be difficult. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/national-review-gop-should-not-govern
  15. The state legislature isn't likely to pass that type of legislation. It was a huge fight, a very ugly one, to get the legislation for gay marriage on the ballot. I don't think they'll want to revisit it.
  16. To the surprise of no one, the electorate was very old, and younger voters didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about their future. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/exit-polls-2014-electorate-old
  17. Congrats to Alma Adams, whose special election means there are 100 women in Congress for the first time ever. http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2014/11/05/there_are_100_women_in_congress_for_the_first_time_ever.html
  18. I think it wasn't even medical, but recreational, which is something that I wouldn't have thought possible a few years back. It passed in Washington DC, Oregon, and Alaska. Florida failed because of the 60% rule. California also voted for defelonizing marijuana possession (unless you've already been convicted of a serious crime). It's ironic that as the states move toward supporting common sense issues, legislators and Congress are more and more openly against them and more and more openly plutocratic, to the point of bragging about outsourcing jobs. I tend to wonder how long it will be before the Supreme Court shuts these minimum wage ballot measures down.
  19. I agree that O'Malley never had a shot anyway. He has no charisma. He has nice arms...that's about all I remember.
  20. There'd been some talk of the MD race tightening, although it's still somewhat of a surprise. Some are saying it's because Brown botched the Obamacare exchange in MD. The biggest upset is probably Steven Horsford, even though people had been speculating on it for a few days because of weak early voter turnout in Clark County. I think the district may have even been drawn for Horsford, which is even more embarrassing. Beyond him there are a few other races that I'm not sure were getting attention, like Pete Gallego. Corbett is the first to lose since PA let their governors serve more than one term. The only other GOP incumbents to lose were Steve Southerland and, barring a reversal, Lee Terry. Lee Terry has been hanging on by a thread for about 8 years now - I'm not sure why he suddenly broke loose this year, but he did. Southerland lost to Bob Graham's daughter, who is probably a star in FL Dem circles after their terrible night. http://www.jrn.com/kmtv/news/Election-day-recap-281576641.html http://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/local/state/2014/11/04/thirty-percent-of-congressional-district-voters-have-cast-ballots/18452597/
  21. Scott Brown did lose, thankfully. That's about it though...
  22. What upsets me more than anything is that thanks to the fear and general stupidity of the public, corrupt, destructive, dangerous governors got a free pass to unleash even more hell on their states. I'd expected Rick Scott, and Brownback didn't surprise me either, but Maine voters reelecting that moron LePage? Why? Because he jumped up and down about ebola? These states are going to burn, and those who suffer the most will be those who didn't even vote for these lunatics. The message of this election is that Republicans can do anything and still get elected. It would be a joke if the consequences weren't so high. This is going to hurt so many people. So many. Many of whom are already on their last leg. And as always the dumbass Beltway is spinning that this is AWESOME because those Republicans are so maintstream and reasonable. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2014/11/the-scariest-part-of-the-republican-blowout-for-democrats/382375/
  23. That video with the non-voters is a bad joke, surely...especially that Naderspeak loser at the end. Anyway, doesn't look like a good night for Democrats (to say the least), although as always the media is inflaming this and spinning the GOP landslide propaganda like they're on front street, knowing this might affect the voting still going on. The media is just desperate for the GOP to win everything everywhere. They aren't even pretending to hide their bias. I'm going to go take a nap and steel myself for all the [!@#$%^&*]. At least I don't watch cable or network news anymore and have cut back more and more on political sites.
  24. The main difference with Dusty before and during Marland, for me, is inner life, and energy. They made Dusty much more basic so he could be the somewhat troubled, but mostly stolid preppy who would worry about Lily, but ultimately not be what she wanted. And this was his material for two full years. Even when he and Lily were split. To me this is some of the most boring material of 86-87, and also some of the most one-note. Meg in particular is painfully one-note to watch and only becomes a real character once she marries Tonio and her dreams are crushed. I don't think they would have had Dusty in Derek's role, because Derek was planning to kill Lily for her money.
  25. He must have been desperate for work to take this crap role on EE.
