I have a 1977 Doug Marland interview about his plans for The Doctors. Would you guys and gals rather I put it under spoiler bars?

Thanks for finding all those interviews. I wish the show got more attention but I'm happy that at least Roger Newcomb is paying attention. Why am I not surprised that the likes of DC does not give a [!@#$%^&*]? They hate soaps and always will. Liz looks great. Seeing her ask for work is sad. She's one of the best out there. I wish someone would give her a job. I'd love to see her pop up on something like Game of Thrones as a Lannister cousin. (yes I'm dreaming)

Doctor Who
The AI on the stories (audience appreciation) is lower than previous seasons, so you probably aren't the only one. I think the season was, as a whole, better than last season, and several other seasons. I think they've done a decent job with Capaldi and I don't really agree with the claims that the Doctor has been sidelined. I think they've just deemphasized certain elements that needed to be deemphasized, like him being written as a god. I liked Clara a lot more this season than I did last season, mostly because of the strength of Jenna Coleman's chemistry with Peter Capaldi, and the complexity of their relationship. The episode quality as a whole was better for me, with a few exceptions. I wish they'd done a better job with Danny. I think they just got almost everything wrong with him. My father, who usually doesn't even pay attention to certain elements of the show, hasn't had that much interest in finishing the season because he felt that Danny was abusive and controlling. Spot the season 5 guest star.

I remember an SOD from fall '94 where JFP was asked why she wasn't pairing Tangie/Cutter when fans liked them, and she gave a runaround answer which screamed, "They're supposed to like WHO I TELL THEM TO LIKE." There's a Scott Hoxby interview from early 1995 where he says that he kept seeing people online talking about how bad the toupee they made him wear was, and he fully agreed, and that he finally got them to get rid of it. I was surprised because at this time the magazines only mentioned the Internet in "wow they r typing 2 peeple on computerz!!!" type articles. Who was he on Y&R?- Primetime Soaps
I saw the Little House one too (damn Melissa Gilbert butchered her face - no wonder she looks so sour all the time). The first two seasons are the best. It's not a great show but it's quirky in a good way, the cast gel, and there's a nice, fun breeziness along with real heart.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I saw people who were surprised. I don't think it was that big of a surprise, as he was always so clumsy and stupid, but then, that's a TV trope for Supersecret Genius, so some may have bought it. I kind of like the new episode format, and getting to see people fleshed out instead of standing around. It just bugs me that we're getting so little of characters like Michonne.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Is that Susan Haskell in the new GEICO ad where the cowboy gets hit by the THE END sign when he's riding away?- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
I feel like this episode will probably get bashed enough to where I'll end up defending it even though I wasn't totally enthused. What did I like: - While this is not a group I would have spent an episode on, I'm glad the show had the guts to do so. The reveal would not have worked if there had been 2 or 3 different strands in this episode. - The group dynamics. They worked better than I thought they would. - Tara. I'm a big Tara fan, and this episode just confirmed it. I loved that she was trying to give Eugene a chance the way she was given a chance. I loved the way she kept throwing herself toward Abraham to try to protect Glenn. - While I have no interest in seeing yet another dead lady for manpain (and yet another dead little girl to boot...), they managed to make Abraham's backstory short yet gutwrenching. Michael Cudlitz did a good job of showing how much of an animal Abraham had become. - Rosita being smart and having a voice of her own. - Eugene getting the [!@#$%^&*] beat out of him. I already have a hard time believing they wouldn't just stab him in the head and walk away, but at least he got some comeuppance. - Maggie getting a little more airtime and having Actual Conversations with people. - the library setting, the firehose kills, etc. Nice to see things switched up. What did I not like? - the lighting was, yet again this season, so dark I literally was staring at a black screen for huge portions of the episode. - I don't mind seeing sex on TWD, I truly don't, and if they get puritan backlash over this I will defend them, but the whole bit with Eugene perving on Abraham and Rosita wasn't needed and made the character seem like a total creeper. - I don't think they entirely got across the horrors of Abraham's backstory. - I give Maggie a pass because so many other fans bash her 24/7, but the Beth stuff still needs to be addressed. - I'm still not sure Abraham has any place on the show.- The Politics Thread
I don't even know why he needs to defend it. You won - who cares? I assume he's doing this because he wants to run for higher office. That is going to be a struggle for many reasons beyond the election. All you have to do is go back to his primary earlier this year, where he performed poorly against Zephyr Teachout. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/zephyr-teachout-primary-loss-air-victory-party-article-1.1934371 She did very well in places like upstate New York, which are not exactly liberal. He doesn't inspire anyone and he generally angers much of the base.- Doctor Who
Is that the boy he met while they were filming Deep Breath?- The Politics Thread
It's not about being critical of your party as much as it's the pretense of being above it all and contributing to the "they're all the same" mentality. And underneath the yelly exasperated rants, Stewart tends to do that.- The Politics Thread
I'm not sure how quickly Scott Walker's people will forget Christine backstabbing him. I saw a Politico article from someone who worked for W during his time in office, and he said this worked out well for Hillary, because nobody cares about whether or not she's a successful campaign surrogate, that an all-GOP Congress gives her a bogeyman to run against.- Primetime Soaps
I was looking through the new Entertainment Weekly with the reunion photos, and getting a little emotional at Harold Ramis not being there for the Ghostbusters shoot, and what do I see? None other than a reunion shoot, and a 4-page article, for Sisters. That's right. SISTERS. The show that, as mentioned in the article, isn't even on DVD, isn't even streaming. As someone who was, back in the day, a devoted fan of the first 3 or 4 seasons, I was shocked that a show which is mostly remembered now for that thing Ashley Judd and Paul Rudd and George Clooney were on actually got a reunion in the hipper-than-thou EW. And it was a decent article too. Respectful of the cast, acknowledging that the show had some OTT stories but also pointing out how experimental the show was, and with some great comments from Swoosie, Julianne, Sela, and Patricia. I won't put anything up now as it's still on the stands. I might eventually. If you were a fan of the show go out and buy it. You won't regret it.- The Politics Thread
The media didn't care so they made sure the public didn't. Soon after the shutdown was the Obamacare website rollout, and everyone went hogwild over that. Even "liberal" Jon Stewart, who made a big show of how terrible the whole thing was. I'm increasingly tired of him and his lazy "both sides" apathy, culminating in him flippantly saying he hadn't bothered to vote this year because he'd moved. After he got some criticism for this, he claimed he was joking and that he actually did vote. I wish he was the one retiring his show, not Colbert.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Oz was about 10-15 years ahead of its time. Today it would probably be a huge show, especially on social media. The first 4 seasons of Oz were good - the show is more serious in the first season, but they embrace pure soap opera in the second season and it was a wild ride. Meloni was a huge force of sexual energy and charisma. He'd been in TV for a number of years before that role; once he got it, his career exploded - he got a part in a Julia Roberts movie (Runaway Bride) and on SVU because of Chris Keller. Bloom was terrific on Oz. He was utterly believable as this charismatic guy who was hot as hell, yet not quite as smooth as he thought he was. He had crazy chemistry with Chris Meloni and he also worked well with Lee Tergesen. He probably could have run a long time on the show, but the arc worked for what it was.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
Was it a husband of Lanna's?- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I don't think Roger was ever written as a villain until the last year or two of his original run. He was written as a somewhat damaged man who wanted good things, but his past and his mistakes kept getting in his way. Even the rape material with Rita, which was intended to be bad, wasn't treated that way.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Considering the career fate of most of the guys who've played young "bad boys" and "hunks" on EE in the last decade, I'm not sure, but I guess his agent might disagree.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I don't hate Charlie. I have no opinion of him, as I do of no DTC characters (he's never been able to create characters, never will be able to create characters). I was asking why the actor would want to be on EE given that he's done a lot of other stuff.- German soaps: GZSZ, UU & AWZ
Do they have one of those "dating naked" shows or am I thinking of something else? Do you think the dumber soap material has helped lead soaps to lose some of their fans? - Guiding Light Discussion Thread
