  1. Two more. If you're sick of these, let me know. November 1973 January 1973
  2. They must be trolling at this point. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s2/eastenders/news/a643521/eastenders-see-shirley-carter-unleash-her-anger-at-stans-wake.html?
  3. Madam's Place is better than most of today's Y&R. I wasn't really criticizing the show, just pointing out strike stuff. I always enjoy seeing strike material, as long as it didn't gut the show. I kind of like that ATWT was a little more loose at this point, more pulpy. Marland corrected it soon enough, perhaps even a little too much (the show seems very dry to me in some of the early '89 stuff...and they sure made a lot of effort to write Beau out, even though I thought he could have been an interesting long-term addition to the show).
  4. He was the face of the whole thing. My parents told me all about they saw him on Jimmy Kimmel and he said everyone would be back but the Olsen twins, and they were looking forward to seeing them again. Now it turns out a bunch of them haven't even been contacted? It's tacky as hell - not that I expected much better...
  5. Didn't Stamos go around acting like everyone but Mary Kate and Ashley would be involved? I hate when people try to con viewers, especially when they sneered at the show for as many years as Stamos did.
  6. February 1975 Afternoon TV.
  7. Speaking of Robert, happy birthday to him. I hope he will be there to celebrate his birthday next year too He's such a terrific character...I hope they know what they have with him. They did sort of mention Robert's birthday, but I wonder if they've forgotten Adam's. For the most part they do try to remember many of the birthdays. I like that about the show. It makes it feel warm and familiar.
  8. Thanks. I wonder if she was a strike character.
  9. Thanks. I hope there are more episodes with Victoria as Nella. That one amounted to her standing up on the stage for a minute. Most of the episode was cohesive, but you could tell it was strike material by several things: - that OTT, completely pointless scene with Holden, Josh, and the gun - that OTT end with Josh screaming down the line about the baby just as Tonio walked in Who was the girl with Andy? How long was she around? Tonio was so wan, it was difficult to believe him in the uber-villian role down the line. I'm glad that after he was written out, Marland retired that idea.
  10. I think she tried to kill Frank.
  11. Aside from Chas...? She's on thin ice because Cain will tear that halo off his head and cut her throat with it if she goes on too much longer this way.
  12. Thanks to the book recap, safe. I skimmed through some in a bookstore last week to see what she had to say. I appreciate you giving the full details. She mentioned that she was sure viewers must have known what was going on, but the papers kept quiet about it. She also said that she and her mother went to a porno movie to induce labor, as they could sit and laugh at how bad it was. She also went into a bit of detail about Claire Labine getting her to do the movie they made together.
  13. I haven't watched the last few days yet as I've heard there's a lot of Carter misery and Charlie and Roxy. Ugh. I hope it is not as bad as it sounds.
  14. That's a great find. Pam looked about the same. Awesome news about CC Courtney. I think I have one or two old magazine bits with him - if I ever find them and you want to send them to him, let me know.
  15. Someone in the Aaron/Robert thread at Digital Spy found this...apparently some unsold pilot for the CW in 2010 by Amy Sherman-Palladino (Gilmore Girls). This clip also has Sean Faris. There’s an IMDB listing for The Wyoming Story, but oddly enough Ryan and Sean aren’t credited there (more IMDB sloppiness I guess). It is oddly in line with Robert and Andy. I guess Ryan just fits that “type”... https://vimeo.com/44324501
  16. A few years back I posted an Afternoon TV article on a pilot for a soap that never got picked up (it was called Gold Coast). Peter Burnell was in it (there are photos), but also Charlie White, whom I did not recognize at the time, but I've now seen on all sorts of random things, from one of the Airport movies, to a 1979 recurring ATWT role as the doctor who befriended Lisa at The Willows, to a one-day stint in a 1968 Doctors episode as the justice of the peace who married Karen and Steve. http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/32267-proposed-soaps-over-the-years/page-15#entry989900
  17. Thanks for the info. I never knew any of that about her life. I would love to hear her talk about the show now... I'm sorry to hear of his passing. I also never quite realized Penny was wearing a wig. I'm glad because I hate her hair but didn't want to say it... Monika I will post some articles soon (I hope). I'm still somewhere in October. I wonder if they had plans for the wannabe Congressman to appear more, but Walsh wasn't available, or if he was always intended to only be on once. The scene with Jody Lee cracked me up. I really enjoyed all the scenes with Althea/Nick/Matt/Maggie playing around and goofing off and Mike reacting to them. It all felt like such fun, and so believable, plus it was such a contrast to the horrors with Steve and Karen.
  18. amybrickwallace sent these to me last week but as always my inbox plays tricks on me.
  19. I get the feeling Smith and Bill Bell (at Y&R) wanted to test the waters, and perhaps felt their shows had progressive audiences, only to learn just the opposite. Only Agnes Nixon, and later Doug Marland, seemed to know how to weave in this type of material.
  20. The main problem with Nene is she doesn't really have anyone to film with, and any time she does, the relationship seems to go south in unpleasant ways that make for bad television. Nene herself is captivating on TV, but I don't think she works on this show. It's a vicious cycle.
  21. It's such bizarre whiplash writing - just about three weeks ago we only knew him as this guy who liked Finn and has HIV and was being terrorized by Val...and now suddenly he's a control freak and Finn has to lie about himself to keep him around? This show has some weird pacing and characterization issues, especially with supporting characters. It's too bad, because I like Darren and I liked him with Finn. And I keep hoping he has another jacket...
