This show is effing cruel messing with my emotions like that! Everyone pray for Nicole, please! If she dies, I will be completely destroyed. I also have to say, I love how Angela Bloomfield played the hostage scenes in the elevator. Not hysterical, but so just annoyed that she had to deal with some crazy a long with everything else. Rachel McKenna is QUEEN of all of soap land! And an absolute salute to her finally breaking off a piece of Garrett! I also hope the woman Dallas hooked up with is Ula and not Kylie. 2015 promo

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Ben, I agree about Zak. I love those little moments where he"ll just be watching the television or reading the paper and Lisa will be whinging about some problem and when she yells at him to pay attention, he'll do that gruff he does as if he's just been caught red handed. That said, I would never argue against ridding the show of the stranglehold the Dingle family has over it. Getting rid of everyone, sans Charity, and Aaron for at least this story with Robert, would be better in the long run. I think the pairing with Moira has revitalized Cain and made him human again, but him being this force people can run to for help in whatever problem they find themselves in is boring and played out. Chas was a favourite when I first watched, but after her relationship with Carl was destroyed, she's just increasingly become a pill. Then there's Debbie ... if any character was ever meant to be killed off, it's her. Carl, as a fellow Bernice fan, I enjoyed her story with Andy. It was, of course, bizarre, but that part was played and there were quite a few good scenes that came out of it. In particular, there was an episode where she'd gotten a modeling job, but then learns she has to be nude for it and another where, after she has swallowed Andy's engagement to Katie, she breaks down and admits (either to Ashley or Nicola) that she just wants to be liked or not be alone or something to that affect. It was actually quite heartbreaking and a really good performance by Giles. Plus, we also got the brilliant pairing of her and Kerry this year and the episode where Bernice completely massacres Katie's face gave me more pleasure than I care to admit. Also, to answer your earlier questions, Paddy is still married to Rhona (Hordley's real life wife) and he and Marlon amended their friendship quite a while ago, since they had already done so when I started regularly watching again in March. I'm saddened to see you don't like Rhona. The actress was phenomenal in her pill addiction story and the Vanessa twist was so modern and made me love the latter, too. However, I do think she is best when she is away from Paddy. They're a couple I wouldn't mind seeing split up. On another front entirely, tonight's episode had Ashley officially back where he belongs, as Vicar! Kate Oates has done a tremendous job of revitalizing him to his former glory. He and Harriet have had a great build up and I'm so happy they were smart enough to not overplay the angst of the Vicar merry-go-round.

The Aleks story is so strange. They had a really good thing going with him and Roxy and with him at the flat with the lesbians and Jake, but ever since this "twist" that seems completely insignificant, Aleks has just been annoying and/or a bore.

Shortland Street Frankie Adams l Ula Levi l Exits February - http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11366471 I'll miss her. The show did a great job at giving Ula a true coming of age story the past few years. She has grown a lot since she got pregnant as a teenager. She lost her best relationship when Evan left earlier this year, and now the small family unit of Vasa/Ula and Vinnie is gone, too. Making her a paramedic was a genius way of keeping her relevant and in the thick of it at the hospital and seeing her be a guardian to Honour has really shown how far she has come. Obviously, this means the end of her and Garrett, the poor bastard. I wonder how fast it will take him to go back to his playboy ways and who his next conquest will be.

As someone who hated Aaron with every fiber of my being as soon as Jackson showed up and ruined him, I'm very happy to see how well Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley work together. They were smoking hot together today. ETA: Sorry for posting this in the wrong thread. Those scenes really left me mystified I guess.

Cain punching the lights out of Kirin is a moment I will relay in my head for some time to come. At the same time, however, that hypocritical bitch Moira is dead to me. After everything Vanessa has done for that cow, she has the gall to take some extremely undeserved moral high ground. I know who I want to get slapped next.

I vehemently disagree with you about Charlie and Johnny, but I smirked at you mentioning Lee's ass, because when I first saw how good it was, knowing your love of Jake Wood, I thought of you. I'm glad to know you feel as I thought you would on the subject.

Bill Cosby
I think it's absolutely clear in that AP video that Bill Cosby is a psychopath merely by the way he pronounces integrity. That was creepy as f*ck.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Michael Rodwell has to be one of the most boring characters I've ever seen. Gail is drowning with him faster than one of her ex-husbands. I really hope this heart condition of his isn't just the writers dangling a carrot in front of me and he actually dies, sooner rather than later. Still, Oliver Farnworth has been very easy on the eyes in the meantime and I just hope that after tonight's twist he'll still be able to be a long term character. I've really enjoyed the Dev triangle with Mary and Julie as well. The first I can ever say I cared about Dev in any capacity. I wonder how boring they'll become again now that Julie and Dev admitted their feelings for each other. At the same time, I wish they would dig into Mary's past already. She always has all these stories and anecdotes, but she's been on the show 6 years and nothing. What I also liked about the triangle is that it meant Mary actually had scenes with characters her own age and wasn't stuck with the Rita/Norris/Emily. I don't know why she only has friendships with the olds. It cuts her story potential down significantly.

This week not being Carter central has been ridiculously better than the show has been in weeks. Denise calling Jane a stepford frump had me smiling from ear to ear. As for immediate recasts, the same thing happened recently with Sienna on Hollyoaks. Some other chick that is not the fabulous Anna Passey was in promo pics with Jeremy Sheffield when the characters were announced, but for some reason she didn't cut it and Passey became Sienna before the character ever appeared.

Thanks for posting, Carl. I don't know much about Linda Henry so I can only hope that it's completely untrue. However, if I'm being honest, if it leads to a Shirley exit I can't pretend I wouldn't be happy about it as I've never liked her character. I realize that's jumping the gun though. Still, the way the article mentions Shirley as being an ex of Phil's rubbed me the wrong way.

Seeing the beautiful Ben Mitchell back on my screen has been delightful. He is just so sexy. Seeing what they do with TK, without Sarah, should prove interesting. The show doesn't likes surprises, so I wonder if they'll have him hook up with a newly single Bella, or even Dayna, instead of him and Harper getting back into bed.

The Classic Film Thread
The Devil Is a Woman (1935) - Queen Marlene Dietrich seemed to have so much fun in this one. A much lighter fare then I'm used to seeing her in, but she still excelled as always. One line completely cracked me up, "I came to see if you were dead. If you loved me enough, you would've killed yourself." And though it was a small role, Edward Everett Horton is always a treat.

Part Two of Kirkwood's interview - http://www.digitalspy.ca/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/interviews/a610380/hollyoaks-more-gossip-and-teasers-from-show-boss-bryan-kirkwood.html#~oVNBrIQpunkxJC Casting: A new O'Connor has just been written into storylines. Dylan, who I mentioned in my previous post, will be Trevor's long lost son. As a Nancy fan, my worries of her departure were a lessened a little bit, but I'm still side-eyeing Killer Kirkwood.

Ben, I read on DS that there will be a 30th anniversary special in Australia, that will include Kylie Minogue and Guy Pearce. Do you know if there is any truth to it?

Bryan Kirkwood interview http://www.digitalspy.ca/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/interviews/a610302/hollyoaks-producer-bryan-kirkwood-shares-show-gossip-and-teasers.html#~oVKbSx25cbFDGD With him bringing up the 20th anniversary, it sounds like he isn't planning to go anywhere anytime soon. He's quite delusional about his extensive death list and villains roaming free without consequence, but I can't say I wasn't ecstatic to read about a reinvigorated Darren. As long as he's around, I'll always continue to watch. Seeing as he also stated a regular character will be the first kill of the gloved hand story at the hospital, it doesn't look good for Nancy. As for the cast, in addition to the third McQueen arrival (Cleo) and the return of Harry, there will be a new family arriving, the Lovedays. All we know so far is that the family will include Zack, a peer of Harry and Holly. There will also be Dylan, a peer of Nico, Tom and Peri, who I think is the new emo kid (Newt rip off!) that was announced awhile back.
