Margo and Tom pace the hospital waiting for word on Casey. Bob emerges and tells them that Casey will be fine. He took a combination of sleeping pills and alcohol, which is never good. Bob tells them how lucky Casey is just as Alison and Aaron arrives. He continues and says that they had to pump Casey's stomach. Tom asks if they can see their son and Bob agrees, but only if they promise to keep the lecture to a minimum. After all, Casey's still pretty groggy. Inside the room, Casey sheds tears when he sees his mom. He reaches out to embrace her and she's more than happy to oblige. Casey mumbles that he's an idiot but Margo hushes him just as Lyla and Katie arrive.

Alison and Aaron wait for their time to go in and see Casey. Lisa asks Aaron how her grandson is doing and Aaron admits that he's with Tom and Margo now. As Lisa sneaks into the room, Aaron tells Alison how scared she was tonight. Alison admits that she always pictured herself as a normal every day girl. When she got hooked on meth, during her rare sober time, she would imagine herself much like Casey was tonight. She knew that if she didn't quit, she was going to be labeled as "that doctor's daughter from Oakdale who o.d.'d". Aaron hugs her and tells her that all that is in the past now.

After Katie has her time with her nephew, Lyla steps in. Lightly, she knocks on the door and Casey motions her in. He apologizes, saying that he's very sleepy. Lyla chuckles and tells Casey that he's alright. Casey reveals that all the drinking and all the sleeping pills were meant to deal with a deeper problem...Sofie. He never imagined that yet another girl who he had invested so much of his heart in would just leave him cold and dry. Lyla smiles and admits that what Casey's going through right now is normal. Every day, people dare to take a plunge and fall in love. However, not many make it. All through childhood, parents look to shield their child from any sort of pain. Sometimes, it carries into adulthood and parents try and shield their children from heartbreak, but the reality is: Only you can be the one to determine if that love is real, if it'll last. Through trial and error, you just have to ride out that relationship for a while and see if your love is strong enough to last. She admits that she hasn't been a very good example of her analogy lately, recalling when she got mad at Katie's engagement news. However, she realizes now that the only way that Katie's ever going to learn, the only way that Casey's ever going to learn if a love is meant to be or not, is if you ride it to the very end. Lyla notices Casey's sleeping and pats him on the hand. Just as she turns around, she comes face to face with Katie. Tears in her eyes, Katie mutters that she heard everything and hugs her mom.

Henry scoots around the office quickly, jotting down signatures and calling out orders. Brad peeps in and asks to speak with him. Henry breathlessly mumbles to make it quick. He and Vienna, he insists, are meeting with potential investors for ViCE Cometics in a bit. Brad sits down and openly applauds Henry and Vienna for turning his office at WOAK into a makeshift office for ViCE. Henry throws his finger up, adding to the discussion that he forgot to mention that Vienna's found them a new office somewhere and they'll be clearing out Brad's desk this evening so he can quit having to use Katie's office. Brad shrugs that he's not worried about it and smiles at a picture of himself, Vienna, and Henry. Seeing how busy Henry is, Brad vows to stop by some other time, but Henry stops him. As he takes Brad by the shoulder, he admits that he's been meaning to talk to Katie about this. Gulping, Henry reveals that the office that Vienna found is in Paris....and he and Vienna are debating a permanent move there so they can keep better watch over everything ViCE-related. Brad asks why they can't just stay in Oakdale and Henry sighs that unfortunately, Oakdale isn't a very big town. Besides, he's always dreamed of living in France. Brad pats him on the back, deciding to shelve his news of engagement for the time being. As he gets up to leave, Henry asks his friend to help him break the news to Katie. Brad agrees.

Margo and Katie are able to calm down Mike and finally drag Henry home. Maddie apologizes to Katie for Henry getting drunk and of course, almost burning down KATY. Katie insists that she is the one at fault for trying to seduce Stephen in order for him to change his mind about working at KATY. Lisa suggests that Jennifer and Nick start a fresh ad campaign. For the ads, have a before and after shot. In the before shot, show the models walking down the street in literally threads and then in the after shot, have them dressed in clothes from Threadz. Nick and Jennifer are immediately thrilled with the idea, but their praise of Lisa is cut short when she gets called away. Over in Australia, James taunts Lucinda, saying that he will finally get Worldwide and she won’t be able to do anything about it. Lucinda goes to slap James but he knocks her out just as Barbara walks in the door. Lucy backs away from the kiss and Dusty quickly apologizes. He also says that though he and Meg are together now, that doesn’t mean that he and Lucy can’t be friends. He asks her to stay, citing that her family needs her more than ever right now.
  3. Actor87
Lucy agrees to stay and Dusty thanks her. While Dusty goes back inside, Lucy wonders to herself about the kiss and if all is completely over between she and Dusty. Back inside the house, Lily gets a tip that a man spotted James boarding a plane headed for Sydney. Sierra talks with an ambassador friend of hers and finds out that James has five different villas in Sydney. While Sierra talks with Worldwide’s investors and begs them to not lose faith in the company, Lily packs her bags and calls in the private jet. Will and Gwen arrive at Maddie’s house and find Henry passed out on the couch. Maddie fills them in and tells them that Luke had a study session but will be by later. She tells them of Heath slapping her and Will and Gwen both vow to make Heath pay. Roxie, who called Lisa upon first seeing Nadine in her room, explains to Lisa that Nadine claimed to have left something one night while staying and then left carrying a small totebag. Meanwhile, Tom tracks down Nadine and demands she hand over her bag. At Meg and Dusty’s room at the Lakeview, Meg has flashbacks of Dusty talking about how much he used to love Lucy and how they always shared a bond. She also has flashbacks of meeting Lucy, who announced she had returned to town…possibly for good. Meg touches her belly and vows to make sure that Dusty knows about her pregnancy.

Susan's shocked to see Michael back at work. He protests that not even his psychotic estranged wife can keep him from work. Susan giggles and asks if he has any plans for the 4th. He sighs, knowing that he has no plans, and tells her that he was thinking of taking a nice little road trip to Chciago. He asks if Susan would like to come, but Kim interrupts and tells them both that she won't hear of any of it. She wants them both to come by the house for the annual 4th of July barbecue.

Katie's touched by her mother's kind words and tells her that she knows that she's been through the ringer with men. However, she promises, this is the last time. She's finally found her equal in Brad. She doesn't have to worry about crazy sisters and long-lost diamonds and toolbelts and bunnies. All she has to worry about is her love for Brad. Lyla admits that Brad has grown on her, but she encourages Katie to learn from her mistakes and know that just because she loves a man doesn't mean she has to marry him. Katie protests that she and Brad have a friendship, but they have more than that. They have a bond. Weary from arguing, Lyla gives Katie her blessing, but half-jokingly cracks that this is the last engagement of Katie's that she's going to give her blessings to. Katie smiles and thanks her mom, hugging her once again.

Barbara flips through her assistant's pile of paperwork and sends her off once again to make last minute arrangements for a fashion show. Paul learns that his mother sent new orders over and chuckles at the assistant's assertion that Barbara doesn't seem ill....she's still the shrewd dictator that hired her. Paul dismisses her and sees Rosanna pacing outside. Rosanna bursts in and tells Paul that she just did some checking and it seems that Cabot's adoptive parents were killed in a car crash recently. Paul takes Rosanna in tow and they dash to the police station in search of some answers. After learning of Casey's accident and Margo's absence, Paul resolves to handle this on his own. Rosanna frets that the way James was talking led her to believe the worst and now, it's all playing out brilliantly like a James Stenbeck scheme. Paul turns to Rosanna and vows that James isn't going to do anything to Cabot...not if he has anything to do with it.

As a nurse sets his food tray down, Casey picks through his spinach. Margo smiles, remembering her late night fights with Casey when he was an infant and refused to eat his vegetables. Margo looks at Casey and remembering how innocent he once was, she starts to cry. Casey asks his mom what has her so upset, but Margo replies that she's just so happy to see him in front of her right now. Casey shamefully admits that what he did was a mistake and he's the biggest idiot for endangering his life like that all because of Sofie leaving. Margo steps outside and runs into Kim. For a little while, they both bond over how much their sons have changed. While Kim can't believe her son would ever endanger his father to get what he wanted, Margo laments that she never thought she would see Casey get drunk and take sleeping pills to numb the loss of a girl he loved that left him for another man. Kim gives the ultimate "kiddo" speech to Margo, telling her that Chris is behind bars and won't see daylight for some time now. However, she strictly points, Casey's right there in that hospital room. The best thing she can do for him right now is be there for him, even when he might scream that he doesn't need her. The truth is, she points out, Casey needs her now more than she knows.

Lily finds Jade cleaning the expresso machine at Java and asks to speak with her. Jade sits down and asks her aunt what she needs to talk about. Lily tells her that Mr. Taylor called the house today looking for her. She wants to know why Jade's adoptive father would seem to be looking for her if things really are as Jade reported them. Jade reasons that when she left, she left without saying anything to anyone. Her argument with the Taylors was the fiercest one yet. Jade hangs her head and admits that she slapped Mrs. Taylor, but reasons that it was only because she said hurtful things about Rose. Lily softens at the mention of her departed twin's name and demans her niece make things right with the Taylors. She tells Jade that even though she might have never known her real mother, Rose, the Taylors cared for her all her life. The least that she can do, Lily points out, is make things right with them. Jade agrees. Later, Lily informs Jade that Kevin hasn't quit calling him. Jade wonders aloud what he might want and Luke reveals that Kevin wants him to tag along for the fireworks show at the marina on the 4th. Jade knows that Kevin has feelings for Luke. She knows that neither side seems ready to admit those feelings, and encourages Luke to go with Kevin to the marina. Hopefully, she vaguely urges, the two of them can have a good time and wait for fireworks.

When Lily returns from talking with Jade, Holden is more than eager to find out what his wife's niece is up to. Lily assures him that Mr. Taylor is just trying to get in touch with Jade out of worry and informs Holden that she advised Jade to return her adoptiv father's calls. Holden can't help but think that something fishy is going on, but Lily promises him that Jade has changed.

Katie returns to WOAK to work late on a story for Oakdale Now when she runs into Kim. Kim congratulates her on the good news and snickers that Brad told her all about it. Katie thanks Kim, who tells her that if she needs anything at all, just let her know. While Kim heads off to the hospital to check on Casey, Brad corners Katie in her office. Giggling, he pushes her up against the wall and starts to playfull nibble at her neck. Katie pushes him off and sternly tells him to cut it out, people are still here. Brad takes it down a notch and breaks the news to Katie that Henry and Vienna are looking to move to Paris. Katie's devastated by the news and concludes that she'll talk with Henry and Vienna about it tomorrow at the Snyder farm. Brad's unaware that Emma has invited them all to her place for a 4th of July dinner, but once Katie tells him, he takes it as the perfect chance to spread news of their engagement.

As Lucinda furiously hangs up the phone on a former colleague, Paul and Rosanna enter. Paul chuckles that Lucinda still hasn't lost her touch. Lucinda asks if James has done something with Barbara, but Paul tells her that James seems to have vanished after telling himself and Rosanna that he has information about Cabot. Lucinda seems very empathetic and tells Paul that she'll do anything she can to help. Paul asks if she minds contacting her friend with the adoption agency (the one not tied to James) and see if she can locate Cabot. Lucinda agrees and after making some calls, she tells them that Cabot has been moved into a new home with some close friends of his adoptive parents. Rosanna doesn't buy it and asks Lucinda if she can have the number. As they walk out, Paul assures Rosanna that all is fine. Perhaps, he suggests, this is all just another mind game of his father's. Rosanna keeps up her happy facade and echoes that he's right...there's nothing to worry about. Later, after Paul has left, Rosanna makes a phone call and schedules a flight to Canada.

Susan comes home and hollers for Emily. When there's no answer, she guesses that Emily's working late at the paper. Just then, Emily comes home and dashes upstairs, hoping to avoid her mother. Emily barks that she'll continue ignoring her mother until she sees that Dusty is past the whole retraction incident. She informs Susan that she and Dusty have made progress, but she can't even savor the happiness because her mother keeps telling her not to get her hopes up. Susan calmly replies that she's just looking out for Emily. She knows how easily Emily invests her heart into something and she's date to see Emily get her heart broken again. Seeing the conversation going nowhere, Susan tells her that Kim has invited them all to the Hughes barbecue. Emily recalls going a few years ago with Chris and comments that she's happier working at the paper on a holiday than being watched by judging eyes. Susan tells her she can bring Dusty if she'd like. Emily questions it all, recalling that Susan and Kim despise each other. Susan tells her that Kim buried the hatchet with her and she sees Kim's invitation as further proof that she's ready to move on and forget the past. Emily smirks doubtfully.

Point blank, he asks her if she's been followed anymore since the other day. As Carrie runs her finger across her neck trying to stop Jack from telling, Carly whirls around and hysterically asks why Carrie never told her she was being followed. Carrie tells her that it was nothing. She thought she was being followed, but it was probably Carrie's imagination. Carly throws up the fact that James is back in town and worries to Jack that Carrie could be easy prey to him. Carrie assures Carly that she's fine and runs back upstairs. Jack takes advantage of the silence and invites Carly to come with him to Emma's. Carly tries to turn him down, but Jack admits that he already told the kids he's take them. Carly scolds Jack for telling them such a thing without consulting her first, but eventually tells Jack the kids can go, but she's not. Meanwhile, in her room, Carrie makes a cryptic phone call and demands that the person leave her alone. Before hanging up, she overhears Jack and Carly's conversation about going to Emma's. She turns around and tells the person on the other end of the call that she'll meet them tomorrow while Jack and Carly go to Emma's. Frustrated, she hangs up and cuddles up with a baby blue blanket.

Lisa hangs up the phone and makes her way outside. As she locks up the door to Fashions, Barbara comes by and tells her about going to Bob and Kim's. Lisa asks if Barbara's health is any better and Barbara says that she still has pain, but it's something she's going to have to live with. Barbara smiles when she tells her old friend that the latest tests show that they got 90% of the cancer. The rest of the cancer will most likely go away after some treatment. Barbara assumes Lisa's going to Bob and Kim's for the picnic, but Lisa opts out, claiming she has some stuff to do.

As Lisa heads to her car, Bob comes beside her after picking up some food for the picnic back in Oldtown. Bob asks if she's coming and comically quips that there's going to be fireworks since Susan's coming. Lisa mumbles that she heard Kim and Susan made peace, but she doesn't think that years of ill will can go away with just a handshake. Bob surprisingly agrees with her and tells her that he was surprised too when Kim made peace with Susan. Thnking out loud, he tells Lisa that he hopes this is a sign that Kim's finally coming around and ditching her jealous tendencies when it comes to Susan. As he unlocks his car, he tells Lisa to come out the picnic. Lisa shakes her head and tells Bob that she and Kim shared words the other day and she doesn't think Kim's her biggest fan right now. Bob won't hear anything of it and tells Lisa that she's coming. Lisa smiles and says that she'll try to make an appearance.

As Susan opens the door to Bob and Kim's, an exuberant Kim welcomes her in. Alison and Aaron, Susan claims, are going to stop by after they visit with Emma. Susan mentions how glad she is that Kim's finally put everything to rest and comments how silly it was that they stayed bitter towards each other for so long. Kim bites her toungue and smiles, almost missing Bob come up behind her. Bob asks Kim what she and Lisa shared words about the other day and Kim sugar coats it, saying that they just had a misunderstanding. Bob informs her that he invited Lisa over and hopes it's okay. Kim turns around in just enough time to witness Lisa enter.

On the other side of town, the Snyders all gather around in the kitchen and take turns helping Emma set the table. Holden voices his sadness in Seth, Caleb, Ellie, and Meg not being in town and mentions how scattered they've all become over the years. Emma shrugs and tells Holden that she always sort of knew her children would stray from the nest, but she has hope they'll all be back together soon. Alison and Aaron appear and see Kevin sitting by himself. Alison asks if Luke's coming and Holden turns around to enlighten them that he got roped into babysitting the girls while Lucinda and Lily go to a business meeting. Emma wishes aloud that Lily would have sent the children over, but Holden tells her that Ethan's been cranky all day and Natalie has developed the chicken pox. Alsion pulls Aaron aside and tells him that she has an idea...they can watch the kids while Luke comes to visit with Kevin. Aaron doesn't like the idea of meddling in his little brother's love life. Alison replies that it'll be fine and grabs Aaron by the hand. Aaron asks if she still plans on going to the Hughes picnic and Alison chuckles that she'd rather babysit adorable kids than watch Kim and Susan in all their fakeness.

Will paces in front of the couch as Gwen gets Hallie ready to go the park. Will suggests they go the Hughes picnic. Gwen informs him that she already promised Iris that they'd make time to come watch fireworks with her at the park. Once they arrive, Iris is glad to see them and pulls Gwen aside to tell her about a man she just met in the park. As Iris tells Gwen that the man is single, good looking, and extremely nice, Will gets nudged by a stranger. Will snaps for him to watch where he's going. As he turns he notices a white slip of paper extruding from his pocket. As he reaches down to grab it, he reads the message. "I forgot to disable the cameras", it reads....signed by Stan. Will shudders and fumbles to put the note back in his pocket as Gwen approaches. Shaken, Will puts on a happy facade and suggests they leave Iris with Hallie while they visit at the Hughes. Intent on telling his mother about the latest development with Stan and eager to see what she has to say, Will practically drags Gwen back to the car. Once there, Gwen asks point blank why Will seems so deadset on going to the Hugheses.

Michael slowly stirs his coffee as he watches the fireworks show on TV. A knock comes at the door and he's delighted to see Katie on the other end. Katie, hurried, tells her uncle to get his stuff and come with her and Brad to Emma's for a fireworks show and some good home cooking. Michael gushes that he'd like o, but he sort of promised Kim that he'd make an appearance at her get together. Katie raises her eyebrow and wonders why her boss would want Michael to come by the Hughes house. Michael jokingly asks if that's such a bad thing that he was invited to the house of one of his hospital colleagues. Katie stares him down and tells him that it is when she knows he's lying. She accuses him of having other reasons for going, but before Katie can get to the bottom of things, Brad honks the horn. Katie heads back out as Michael gathers his things and heads to the Hughes house.

Rounding up the kids, Carly hands Jack some allergy medicine for Parker. J.J. asks Carly to come with them, which leads to Sage's incessant whining that she come watch fireworks with them at Aunt Emma's. Carly promises to stop by, but only for a little while. Excusing herself, Carly returns back inside and sees Carrie rushing down the stairs. Carly asks Carrie where the hell she thinks she's going and Carrie retorts that she promised a friend that she'd come by and help with his fireworks. Carly worries that Carrie's too fragile, but Carrie laughingly tells Carly that she should be having fun, too. After all, it's only one day out of the year that America truly embraces their independence. The least she can do is be independent and have some good ole fashioned American fun. Carly smiles and agrees, but hesitates when she sees Carrie acting anxious. Carly asks if she's alright and Carrie hushes her concerns with a hasty "go". After Carly makes her way out, Carrie rushes out the door. As Carrie makes her way through deserted Oldtown, someone waits for her...lurking in the shadows.

Meg arrives at Rosanna's suite at the Lakeview. Barbara comes from behind her and says that Rosanna and Paul have gone out and barks that Meg needs to leave them alone. Meg apologizes and scurries off. Once back at the farm, she calls Paul and fakes tears, saying that something's wrong with the baby.

Vienna clocks out at Al's and returns to her new house with Henry. She stares at the red shutters she had custom made and seeing red, remembers that Valentine's Day is almost a week away. Lily finds Luke sitting in Java and asks him to follow her. Outside, he finds Noah and Lucinda gathered around. Asking what's going on, Lucinda hands Luke the key to his and Noah's own apartment. Noah's ecstatic, but Luke knows deep down that it all came about because Noah privately asked Lucinda to take care of it. Luke fakes a smile, remembering what Lily told him about keeping his mouth shut in regards to the reason they were denied an apartment the first time...because Noah's father was a killer. Later, Noah and Luke christen their new apartment.

It's the 4th of July in Oakdale...

Will tries to avoid his wife's questioning eyes. Quickly, he tucks his sweaty hands into his pockets and confesses that he needs to check on his mom. She got some positive readings from the doctor and he's afraid she might be too cocky by going out to Kim's. He's afraid she might overwork herself. Gwen agrees to go with him to check on his mom and the two head to the Hughes house while Iris plays with Hallie.

Nancy can sense the tense air between Kim and Lisa and approaches Lisa, grabbing the peach cobbler from her hands. Nancy suggests Lisa help her with the rest of the food and Lisa obliges. Meanwhile, Susan overhears Bob confronting Kim about the tension between her and Lisa. Susan makes her way inside and learns from Lisa that she's skeptical of Kim's peace offering. Susan stands up for Kim, but Kim comes in and tells her not to bother. Lisa's right to be skeptical.

Carly arrives at the Snyder farm in just enough time to run into Brad and Katie. The women play nice and both comment on how strange it is that Emma's in town for once. Brad worries that something's wrong with one of his cousins and Emma's making frequent trips out of town to see them. Carly assures Brad that if something was wrong, Emma would tell them. Emma approaches and she gushes about how nice it is to see everyone here....and getting along!

Meanwhile, Luke arrives with Jade. Emma puts on a happy smile, but later, she asks Holden why Jade has returned. Holden reveals Jade came back to town to visit with Lily while she sorts some things out. Emma comments how it's not like Jade to just return to town without some ulterior motive. She knows the girl is nothing but trouble and frankly, she confesses, she thought Holden did too.

Luke comes in the kitchen and sees Kevin sitting with Sage as she colors. Jack comes in and addresses both Jade and Luke before heading back outside to help Holden with the steaks. Kevin smiles as he watches Jade give the thumbs up from behind Luke. Luke wonders aloud what brought Kevin to his family gathering. Kevin chuckles and says his family went out of town for the 4th and he requested to stay in Oakdale. Luke thinks it's a bit odd his former friend is sitting in his gramdother's kitchen during a holiday and pulls Jade aside. Jade finally confesses that she invited Kevin because she wanted them to patch things up. She knows Kevin meant alot to Luke at some point and she can't stand to watch their friendship crumble because things didn't work out after Luke confessed his feelings to Kevin. Maybe, she hints, Kevin's feelings have changed. Luke raises his eyebrow.

Noah rounds the corner at Oldtown and comes across Lucinda and Lily Both have returned from their business meeting and are headed to pick up some things on the way to Emma's. Lily stares Noah up and down before finally asking him what Luke ever did to be punished the way he was. Noah promises he never meant to intentionally hurt Luke; his fling with Carrie was just something that happened. Lily calls him out and tells him how cruel it was for him to pretend to be someone he's not. Luke invested his whole heart in Kevin and Kevin turned him down. Luke was vulnerable when Noah came along, and denied his feelings for Noah because of Maddie. Lily points out that all Noah had to do was cut Luke off right then and there. But instead, Noah strung him along and played gay for a few months before he finally got drunk and got sick of playing the game. Lily's disgusted and joins her mother, who walked off minutes earlier. Noah slams a sign and watches as his hand turns bloody. As he walks he sees Carrie speaking with a man. He buries himself behind a flower pot and watches.

Carrie thanks the mystery person for meeting her. Breathlessly, she admits that she would have contacted him sooner, but she got caught up in her own drama. Just then, a dark figure slowly saunters into the light. It's James Stenbeck.

Barbara's delighted when she sees Will and Gwen enter. Gwen finds Margo on the other end of the backyard and asks how Casey is while Will pulls Barbara aside. Panting, he pulls out the note and hands it to her. Barbara's shocked when she reads the note from Stan and tells Will to burn it. She can't believe it. Will asks his mom what he's going to do when his wife finds out that he set up Iris to look like a thief so Gwen would shun her forever. Barbara tells Will that no one has asked about the tapes so far and the investiagtion seems to be over already. Will asks what he's going to do when Stan goes to trial. He'll name Will AND Barbara. Barbara smirks and tells her son not to worry about anything. She urges him to return to his wife and enjoy the barbecue and fireworks. She'll take care of Stan. Will warns her not to do anything drastic and Barbara counters, asking Will if he'd rather lose his wife and daughter to a 6x6 jail cell or if he'd like to be with them for the rest of their lives. Knowing he has no other option, Will halfway nods his head and orders his mom to do whatever's necessary.

Susan turns around upon hearing Kim say how Lisa's right to be skeptical of their newfound truce. Kim reveals that she and Susan have been at odds for years...and there's nothing better she'd like than to rip Susan to pieces. However, she knows that bitterness will only plague her for the rest of her life. She informs Susan that she will never forgive or forget what she and Bob did that one night.
