  1. No. While "NBC News Daily" is doing better in the demos than when it launched last year, the show remains down compared to what "Days of our Lives" did in the slot just before being shipped off to Peacock and even compared to one year prior to the announced move.
  2. “The Bay” will return with all-new episodes beginning today, Tuesday, November 14 at 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on Popstar! TV, starting with releasing the show’s final four episodes from Season 7. Replays of the episodes from the season will be rebroadcast every weekday as a build-up to the launch of the show’s eighth season, which will consist of 14 all-new episodes, kicking off on Monday, December 11. Season 8 will see a 100th episode special, dropping on Thursday, December 14. In the new season, fans will be introduced to billionaire Sir Thomas Kenway (played by special guest star Maxwell Caulfield), the father of Adam Kenway (Kristos Andrews). Returning series regulars include Brandon Beemer, Alicia Leigh Willis, Matthew Ashford, Taylor Stanley, Carlo Mendez, Kiara Liz Ortega, and Dante Aleksander, among others. Produced by LANY Entertainment in association with SheMogal Media, “The Bay” is written and executive produced by Daytime Emmy winners Gregori J. Martin and Wendy Riche. Since its debut, the series has won 23 Daytime Emmy Awards out of 56 nominations from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). Earlier this year, “The Bay” was nominated for the first time ever in the coveted Daytime Drama Series, Writing and Directing categories, competing against the likes of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless.” Overall, 92 episodes of “The Bay” are currently available to stream on Tubi, Prime Video and Popstar! TV. Additional episodes are available on Peacock and The Roku Channel. Courtesy of LANY Entertainment Using the hashtag “BingeTheBay,” fans can follow along with fans around the world as they discuss the happenings in Bay City, including the recent trip to Puerto Rico, where several chore characters found their lives hanging in the balance after being kidnapped and brought to a non-disclosed location by the nefarious Adam Kenway. With help in Bay City from the Police Commissioner Lex Martin and former Police Detective Nardo Ramos (Tristan Rogers and A Martinez), respectively, vigilantes Pete Garrett (also played by Andrews), Caleb McKinnon (Mike Manning), and R.J. Garrett-Foster (Najee DeTiege) set out to a remote island to find and rescue their abducted family members, including Vivian Johnson-Garrett (Karrueche Tran), Daniel Garrett (Eric Nelsen), and Tamara Garrett (Celeste Fianna). But will they arrive in time? Photos by Christine Bartolucci/ABC; ABC Photo Archives; Todd Wawrychuk/ABC The eighth season of “The Bay” will see the final performance of the late Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie Spencer, “General Hospital”) in her role as a psychic medium and southern belle Sofia Madison, who taps into coma-stricken socialite and town matriarch Sara Garrett’s (Mary Beth Evans) mind to discover she’s being visited by the spirit of her deceased husband, Lee Nelson (Joe Lando) and haunted by the ghost of her late grandfather, the corrupt Senator Red Garrett (Bruce Davison), whose spirit is said to have cursed the town after his drowning in the bay 30 years earlier. Filmed at ATI Studios in Burbank, a segment of season 7 of THE BAY was shot on location in Puerto Rico. Ninety-two episodes of THE BAY are currently available on Tubi, Prime Video, and Popstar! TV, with several episodes also available for streaming on Peacock and The Roku Channel. For more information, visit thebaytheseries.com. 5. There apparently was some confusion about this. I've updated the article to correct that Stephanie has departed a360media altogether as VP, Editorial Director. The company has also opted to shutter the teen books she oversaw, including the print edition of J-14. Stephanie Sloane Exits a360media as VP, Editorial Director Stephanie left at the end of October when it was announced Digest as a print magazine would be discontinued. I've updated the article (as noted above) to make that blatantly clear.
  6. Appearing in the Friday, November 10 episode of “The Talk,” which was pre-taped in observation of the Veteran’s Day holiday, “The Young and the Restless” star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) appeared on the daytime talk show to discuss his recent experience as he battled bladder cancer, and discussed the scene that made him realize he wanted to stay on playing Genoa City’s most powerful businessman. While sitting down alongside the show’s co-hosts, Braeden shared sound advice for men after he recently won his battle against bladder cancer. When asked how he’s doing now, the Daytime Emmy Award-winner said, “I’m doing well, thank you. Long story short, I ended up at the urologist’s office after I couldn’t pee at all anymore. And that to those of you who are my age, [jokes] 49, I can tell you, it is very painful…I tell all of you guys, have a cystoscopy. Have it examined early on so that you catch it early. So go for it, fight it and [makes fighting fist]. Courtesy of CBS After commenting on his current storyline, in which Victor reveals he’d been faking his suffering from mental deficiencies to get the goods on his children, Adam (Mark Grossman) and Victoria (Amelia Heinle), Braeden reveals that there was a time he had wanted to play a different type of character because he was “tired of playing bad guys.” Braeden told co-host Amanda Kloots, “I asked [the late] Bill Bell who invented the show, brilliant man, I said Bill, I’m sick and tired of playing bad guys. I played bad guys on ‘Gun Smoke,’ right here on this lot as a matter of fact, on ‘Rat Patrol,’ ‘F.B.I.,’ ‘Hawaii Five-0.’ And I was empty, I couldn’t play bad guys anymore. I said it’s too dehumanizing. “I said, can we imbue this character with a background that explains why he is as bad as he is…he wrote the storyline… Then when I did that scene with Dorothy McGuire, she played my mother who I had not seen in over 30 years. She had left me at an orphanage at the age of seven. She was destitute, no money. That rang a bell with a lot of people in the audience and with me. And once I did that scene, I said, ‘I’m going to stay.’ I had no idea how I was going to do it.” After Braeden’s confession, “The Talk” aired a brief but powerful clip from the episode featuring Victor meeting his mother, Cora Miller (McGuire), for the first time. In the clip, Victor tells her, “You are my mother… I’ve been waiting for you for years, and you never looked back!” Braeden confesses he did the scene in one take after co-host Sheryl Underwood noted how real his tears looked to viewers. 7. Stephanie Sloane Exits Soap Opera Digest as VP, Editorial Director
  8. With the weekly print magazine discontinued and the final issue on newsstands now, Soap Opera Network has learned that Stephanie Sloane has exited Soap Opera Digest as VP, Editorial Director after 33 years. The owner of the iconic brand, a360media, made the decision in late October to shut down the magazine and shift more resources to digital. As a result, Sloane’s position was eliminated. Hitting newsstands in 2024, Soap Opera Digest will publish as a special edition magazine with at least four issues released annually. Soap Opera Digest | November 13, 2023 Issue Courtesy of a360media Earlier this week, we exclusively reported that subscribers to the weekly print edition of Soap Opera Digest will receive notification from a360media on Woman’s World being provided as a replacement magazine for Soap Opera Digest to honor the remaining balance of issues left to serve. Additionally, some digital subscribers have indicated they’ve received a refund voucher from magazine distributors such as Zinio in lieu of their subscription being transferred to Woman’s World. Following Sloane’s departure, Soap Opera Digest has formally expanded on its digital output via its website, soapoperadigest.com, including the release of key features that were previously found exclusively in the magazine, such as late-breaking news, comings & goings, interviews, weekly previews and columns. Soap Opera Digest was founded in 1975 by Angela Shapiro and Jerome Shapiro. In 2021, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. In addition, in recognition of the marked increase in content and entries for children’s programming, 2022 marked the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, with relevant categories separating from the Daytime Emmys into their own competition and ceremony. 10. Of course! We at least needed that part to be true. Anything otherwise would make me feel ill based on that Bloomberg interview. Ultimately, I want us to hear that he was laid to rest per his wishes. Until then, all this infighting as shared on social media by his family or whoever is involved in his personal affairs is just disgusting. I saw a post earlier, and I was appalled at how someone could speak ill of the dead, even if they were related. This is just too much info, IMO:
  11. I spoke with someone at Robinson Funeral Home, and they confirmed that donated money goes toward funeral costs and not directly to the family. In essence, when families are unable to pay for the services themselves, the funeral home provider includes a donate now button to help cover the cost of their services. I thought this would be helpful information as we become aware of this increasingly unfortunate situation.
  12. As expected, “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will now take place on Friday, December 15, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and CBS confirmed today. The rescheduled ceremony will be broadcast LIVE at 9:00 p.m. ET/delayed PT on CBS and will also be available to stream on Paramount+*. “We are pleased to set this new date with CBS for the Daytime Emmys to celebrate our golden anniversary,” said Adam Sharp, president and CEO of NATAS in a statement. He added, “We know the loyal fans of daytime television have waited patiently to properly honor and recognize all of the deserving nominees and we look forward to the celebration we have all been waiting for.” Earlier this week, NATAS announced an “exciting weekend” of festivities, noting “four days of celebrations,” but only released information on events taking place over three days. This led to wide speculation that the fourth day, Friday, December 15, was being eyed as a replacement date for the big event. The ceremony was originally scheduled to take place on Friday, June 16, but was postponed due to the now concluded Writer’s and Actor’s strikes. Susan Lucci Photo by Justice Apple During the broadcast, Daytime Emmy Award winner Susan Lucci (“All My Children”) will receive her Lifetime Achievement Honors. Former talk show host Maury Povich will receive his award at the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, taking place the next day on Saturday, December 16 at 12:00 noon PT, and will be available to stream online at watch.TheEmmys.tv. Both events will be held at the historic Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Heading into Emmy season, “General Hospital” leads the pack with 19 nominations overall, followed by 14 nominations for “The Bold and the Beautiful,” 13 nominations for “The Young and the Restless” and 10 nominations for “Days of our Lives” (the show originally had 11 noms, now has 10: see story). For a full list of nominees, including technical/creative nominations, click here. This year marks the 17th time CBS has broadcast the Daytime Emmy Awards, more than any other network. The December 15 broadcast is being produced by NATAS and Associated Television International (ATI), which produced Daytime Emmy Award ceremonies on The CW in 2009 and on CBS in 2010, 2011, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Adam Sharp and Lisa Armstrong are executive producers from NATAS, while David McKenzie is executive producer from ATI. Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. All awards are judged by a pool of peer professionals from across the television industry. Speaking of the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, mere hours after the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, on Saturday, December 16, NATAS will present the Children’s & Family Creative Arts ceremony, starting at 8:00 p.m. PT. The main ceremony, “The 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards,” will take place on Sunday, December 17, starting at 5:00 p.m. PT, topping off the “exciting weekend” of festivities. The Westin Bonaventure Hotel will also play venue host for those ceremonies. Note*: Live and On Demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs. 13. I believe she was his manager.
  14. This is just getting worse and worse. I do not know what to believe right now myself.
  15. Susan P. Baker is Tyler's sister, Susan Asmo Baker, according to her Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/susan.asmo Additionally, she did in fact create a page called Celebrating Tyler Christopher, but it is a "add a friend" type page, not a true Facebook page in the traditional sense (https://www.facebook.com/celebrating.tyler.christopher) Apparently someone named April Grant is managing Tyler's official pages in lieu of his death, according to a post on the Celebrating Tyler Christopher page: Looks like a post on Susan's Facebook page (not the Celebrating Tyler Christopher page) had a post liked by at least two Cheetwoods, one of which was Derk Cheetwood (the other is a non-celebrity member). The full message (not shown on Tyler's official pages) of Susan's post: The image used on the funeral service page is an older photo of Tyler's that one could pull from Google images. IMO, it's not one someone close to another person would use. But that is just me. Link to funeral service page: https://www.robinsonfuneralhomeinc.com/obituaries/obituary-listings?obId=29851418
  16. I called the San Diego Medical Examiner's Office and unfortunately they are closed in observance of the Veteran's Day holiday so I can not confirm whether Tyler is still there, as per the messages posted to his official Facebook and Instagram pages. Right now, it's unclear who is posting to his pages or how they were able to gain access. There was no indication in either post. Additionally, I have not been able to independently verify whether an alleged Facebook page or group called "Celebrating Tyler Christopher" currently or previously existed.
  17. Make sure to tune into the Friday, November 10 episode of CBS’ “The Talk” when “The Young and the Restless” star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) appears for the first time since he was featured in a segment shown from behind the scenes of the daytime drama series during the Tuesday, March 21 episode, wherein co-host Jerry O’Connell spoke with cast members in celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary. In August, Braeden announced he was cancer free, nearly four months since he first revealed he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer. “I want to talk to you tonight because I want to tell you I’m grateful for all of your good thoughts and your prayers,” said Braeden in a Facebook video, which ran for nearly 26 minutes. “It’s meant a great deal to me, and I can tell you it obviously has helped because I had my last cystoscopy two days ago – that’s when they thread a camera into your bladder – and I’m cancer free! They couldn’t find a damn thing.” “The Talk” airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS and is also available to Stream Live and on Demand on Paramount+. 18. Months after announcing the postponement of “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” due to the then ongoing Writers Guild Strike, which officially ended on September 27 with members ratifying the new contract on October 9, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) announced on Tuesday that it has formally rescheduled the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, which will now take place on Saturday, December 16 as a luncheon event. The organization did not announce a new date for the main ceremony, which was scheduled to air on CBS earlier this year. Dubbing it an “exciting weekend” of Emmy festivities, NATAS will kick things off on Thursday, December 14 when it holds a private reception to honor the 2023 Daytime and Children’s & Family inductees into the Gold & Silver Circle honor society. Honorees include former “General Hospital” executive producer Wendy Riche (writer/EP for “The Bay”) and “General Hospital”/”Bob Hearts Abishola” star Vernée Watson (Stella), among others. “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” Courtesy of CBS On Saturday, December 16, legendary talk show host Maury Povich, who was previously announced as a Lifetime Achievement Honoree for this year’s Daytime Emmys, will receive his award at the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony. The event will occur at the historic Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, starting at 12:00 noon PT. The Children’s & Family Creative Arts ceremony will also take place at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel on Saturday, December 16, mere hours after the Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle ceremony, starting at 8:00 p.m. PT. As for the main ceremony, “The 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards” will take place on Sunday, December 17, starting at 5:00 p.m. PT, topping off the weekend’s festivities. At press time, the SAG-AFTRA, the union representing television and film actors in the United States, remained on strike. However, due to the nature of its contract, SAG-AFTRA members appearing on Daytime Dramas, Talk Shows, and other Non-Dramatic Programs recognized by the Daytime Emmy Awards work under the guild’s Network Code agreement, which remains a non-struck contract. The majority of programs recognized in the Children’s & Family Emmy Awards competition were similarly produced under agreements not subject to the strike. However, some Children’s & Family Emmy-nominated programs remain struck. As such, NATAS salutes the nominated performances of those SAG-AFTRA members who appeared in these programs but acknowledges that it is a violation of the guild’s strike rules for such members to promote or publicize their nominations for struck work. “We are pleased to honor once again the writers, performers and other creators that inspire and entertain audiences of all ages,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO, NATAS. “We look forward to a fun-packed weekend that underscores the amazing scope of content making a difference in viewers’ lives.” The full list of nominees for the Daytime Emmy Awards can be found here. Nominations for the Children’s & Family Emmys were announced on November 2 and can be found here. Check back soon for any updates on additional Daytime Emmy Award ceremonies. 19. Have you ever wanted to hear the full-length version of music cues/scores played during scenes on a daytime soap opera? Well, for the first time ever, “The Bold and the Beautiful” is providing soap opera fans with the chance to hear music from the show that helps set the tone for episodes of the series. On Tuesday, November 7, more than a dozen music cues were published to the show’s Official YouTube channel, including such titles as “Paulina’s Big Smile,” “Next Time Around,” “Connect the Dots,” “Fountain of Light,” “Anyone’s Guess,” “Beautiful Forrester Theme,” “White Light,” along with several number centric titles, such as “108-M,” a more soothing and slow-paced iteration of “The Bold and the Beautiful” theme song. Most of the music cues published thus far are two or more minutes long, with the longest running time at a whopping 3 minutes, 29 seconds. That music cue, “1027,” appears to be used to set up a scene in which viewers will anticipate a shocking and thrilling twist. The shortest music cue is “108-HH,” a shortened iteration of the show’s theme played using a harp. It runs for just 34 seconds. In announcing the release of the music cues, the show’s supervising producer, Casey Kasprzyk, said on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), “This has been a dream of mine to make it easy for everyone to hear the various scores from #BoldandBeautiful.” He added, “I’m loving reading comments hearing what memories the music evokes. These cues are literally the music of our lives!” In addition to his work on the daytime drama series, Kasprzyk also hosts “Bold Live! on most Fridays on YouTube. In June 2022, “The Bold and the Beautiful” released an original scores album featuring 35 recognizable and moving theme songs featured on the show. The album, entitled “The Bold and the Beautiful (Music from the Series, Volume One)” was composed and scored by the show’s Emmy Award-winning composer John Nordstrom who joined the soap in that capacity in 2013. The album is available on Apple Music, Spotify and all other music streaming platforms. To listen to the music cues, click on the play button below or visit the show’s Official YouTube channel. 20. So, since I was given a voucher toward another magazine instead of a refund, I opted to get Inside Soap UK and paid the difference. Tell me why Soap Opera Digest couldn't be bothered to do something as simple as this in at least one issue. I mean, it didn't take much work or effort and would be a reason to check out the magazine.
  21. Agreed. No disrespect, but I subscribed to Digest because I watched (and covered) soap operas. I am not an over 50-year-old woman who needs/wants tips on beauty, health and nutrition.
  22. EXCLUSIVE: a360Media Transferring Soap Opera Digest Subscriptions to Woman’s World Magazine So, this is why I said the unnamed digital magazine distributor was playing stupid, fast and loose when I spoke with them. They either knew nothing or spoke to the wrong people. As of today, they even told me, "we are still waiting for the new calendar from the publisher's side and once we have all the details setup the marketing team will be removing the 52 issues and will be changed to 4 issues," when I asked why they are still allowing people to purchase subscriptions to Soap Opera Digest, especially when their site lists 52 issues as the amount you'll receive throughout the subscription. Additionally, they said, "In regards to the special issues we do not have information on the release dates and if the publisher decides to include them as part of the 4 issues they will be apart of the subscription." Like how dense must you be?
  23. With the November 13, 2023 cover issue of Soap Opera Digest being the magazine’s last ever as a weekly print magazine, subscribers will soon see their subscriptions transferred to Woman’s World, a health, beauty and nutrition magazine for women over 50, Soap Opera Network has learned. Additionally, the first of four planned special print editions of Soap Opera Digest will released on newsstands in 2024. A rep for a360media, owner of both magazine brands, tells us, “The Soap Opera Digest brand will live on as a special edition magazine, available on newsstands in 2024. In the meantime, our subscription team will be reaching out to subscribers to let them know their remaining balance of Soap Opera Digest issues left to serve will be transferred to one of our flagship brands, Woman’s World, a bestselling weekly magazine.” The rep also notes that in addition to the special edition magazine, “Much of the content you’ve come to love in our Soap Opera Digest print edition, including breaking news, exclusive story previews and interviews with your favorite stars, will continue to be available on our social media sites and at soapoperadigest.com.” On Monday, October 30, a note from the staff of Soap Opera Digest was published on their website, which at the time only noted that the magazine would be “publishing at a reduced frequency moving forward.” The message also contained a link for all questions regarding subscriptions. A few days later, the link began redirecting to a page telling subscribers, “Unfortunately, Soap Opera Digest is no longer being published as a weekly magazine, effective with the November 13th, 2023 issue. Please rest assured that as soon as more details are available, we will be notifying all of our subscribers.” As of October 31, 2023, the Soap Opera Digest staff has transitioned to an online environment with news, interviews and more published on soapoperadigest.com, as noted by the rep. Further, beginning Monday, November 6, fresh content that fell under key sections as shown in the print magazine began publishing to the website, including a “Take Five [Interview] with Mark Grossman,” a “QuickTake [Interview] with Veronica Redd,” and “It’s Only My Opinion [Column] by Carolyn Hinsey,” among others. At press time, it was unclear what schedule the staff would follow for releasing content based on features shown in the weekly magazine. Strategically, it makes sense for a360media to transfer subscriptions to Woman’s World. An annual subscription to the magazine (50 issues) is fairly equal to an annual subscription to Soap Opera Digest (52 issues), with just about $5-$10 separating the two in terms of pricing. The same goes for a six-month subscription, with Woman’s World releasing about 20 issues during that period, while Soap Opera Digest released 26 issues. Among circulation figures, Woman’s World had a circulation average of 831,172 for the six months that ended on June 30, 2023, according to the Alliance for Audited Media (AAM), which placed the magazine 47th out of 165 magazines that provided their paid and verified circulation figures. Out of the 195 magazines tracked overall for that period by AAM, 30 magazines did not submit/provide a publisher statement by their press time. Prior to a360media’s 2022 acquisition of the publishing portfolio from Bauer Media Group, which included Woman’s World, First for Women and the Bauer U.S. bookazine business, Bauer transferred subscriptions for the discontinued ABC Soaps In Depth and CBS Soaps In Depth to Woman’s World. Woman’s World was founded in 1981 by European magazine publisher, Heinrich Bauer Verlag of Hamburg, Germany.
