The Television Academy, the governing body behind the Primetime Emmy Awards, is following in the footsteps of sorts of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) by releasing nominations for some of the categories a few hours before the full list of nominees is revealed on Tuesday, July 15. On Monday evening, the organization announced that nominations for Outstanding Reality Competition Program and Outstanding Talk Series will be announced during the “CBS Mornings” What to Watch segment, starting at 7:47 a.m. ET/4:47 a.m. PT. 4. Ahead of the Tuesday, July 15 episode of the “Soapy Hosted by Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart” podcast, CBS released preview clips of the episode featuring “Days of our Lives” star Deidre Hall as a guest. In the episode, Hall discusses her experience screentesting for the role of Marlena Evans on the Peacock exclusive daytime drama series, recalling that there were several women in the room who were also looking to land the coveted role she has played since making her debut in Salem in 1976, plus how a devoted fan helped establish the in-person fan experience. “I was screen testing, and they usually try and have people not in the same room, obviously, the actor(s) might be able to see each other or see our screentest, and I happened to see a couple of women, and I thought, ‘Oh, my word. Look who’s testing for this,’” Hall said, recalling the day of her audition. Deidre Hall, Rebecca Budig, Greg Rikaart CBS A few weeks after the screen test, Hall got a call informing her that she had landed the role, but her initial response was far from a positive one. She noted, “I knew, as actors in their craziness know, if they chose me, everybody else must have turned it down. There must be something wrong with this part, so [I thought], ‘I’m turning it down too!!!” That decision didn’t last as she would later get a call from her agent at the time, who reached out wanting to know what was going on, reminding her that she was the one who told them she wanted to do a soap. In response, Hall exclaimed to her agent that she wasn’t the show’s first choice for the role, which discouraged her from taking the part. “Yes, you were!” the agent chimed in, saying in response, to which Hall excitedly replied, “I was?” in her best “You like, you really like me” moment. At that point, she told the agent, “Well, I love that part. I would love to do that part.” In a separate clip, Hall discusses being part of the first-ever fan meet and greet, sharing a story of a fan who had written to her during the days when soap stars were getting fan mail as their primary source of feedback. “This is the days when we got fan mail, and the days we read it, too. I got a letter from a woman who said her mother was going blind and she’d been a fan of the show for a while. When they asked what she wanted to see before she lost her sight. She said, ‘I want to see Deidre Hall in person.’ Truly, you couldn’t make that up. And I thought, ‘Okay, well, come on. Here we go.’ And so, at that point in time, there were about six or seven actors on the show that had a fan club. So, I knocked on their doors and I said, ‘You got fans who need to see you.’ And ‘okay, fine.’ And we had the very first, what we call lunch break at the Sportman’s Lodge in the Valley, and there were about 125 people there.” Hall went on to share that the woman attended the event, sitting in the front row, and got to see the actress up close in person, marking what would become a multi-year tradition. “The second year it was 500 people, and the third year it was a full-blown stage production with 2,500 people at the Hollywood Palladium," said Hall. The final episode of the Prime Video reboot of the long-running soap opera series will air in December. “Today marks the final day of production on our beloved ‘Neighbours,’” read a message on the show’s official Instagram page, which included behind-the-scenes photos of the cast and crew as the final “cut” was called. “It's with a heavy heart that our incredible cast and crew wrap for the final time. As sad as this day may be, we can't wait for you to see the amazing storylines that are about to unfold over the coming six months. Together we have been, and always will be, the perfect blend.” Chrishell Stause Reuben Moore “Selling Sunset” and “All My Children” star Chrishell Stause, who appeared on the Australian drama series as Yasmine “Yas” Shields, a glamorous and successful businesswoman who is in pursuit of an exciting new opportunity, commented on the post, saying, “So much love to you guys!” “I am ending it in a way that sets up future chapters,” showrunner and executive producer Jason Herbison said in an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald which was published earlier this month. “It’ll be very hopeful and optimistic, but it will be different to last time. Most importantly, it absolutely leaves the door open for a few different ways the show could come back in the future.” In a statement released on Friday, Herbison said, "Once again, we will be resting the residents of Ramsay Street on a hopeful note, with some tantalising possibilities for a future chapter." He added, “'Neighbours' is a special show and it’s been a privilege to make the recent seasons for our loyal viewers around the world. We have added 460 episodes to our legacy of over 9000 episodes, something we all feel proud of.” Rebekah Elmaloglou, Jackie Woodburne, Alan Fletcher Prime Video Herbison has served as the show’s executive producer since 2013. This marks the third time the series has concluded since it first premiered on March 18, 1985, having emerged as the longest-running drama series in Australian television history with millions of fans across the globe and helping launch the careers of several household names, including Margot Robbie, Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, and Russell Crowe, among others. The series first aired on the Seven Network in Australia before it was canceled a few months later due to its poor performance in the Sydney market. The show was later moved to the 10 network in 1986 and remained on the channel until 2010. In 2011, the show moved to 10 Peach, a free-to-air television channel run by Network 10. The show was abruptly canceled in 2022 when the UK’s Channel 5 announced it would no longer carry the series on its network. Amazon announced in early 2023 that it would bring back the Freemantle-produced series on a global basis through its Freevee streaming platform. The reboot debuted on the service in September 2023. By late 2024, Freevee was discontinued, with its programming becoming available through Prime Video. "Neighbours" Prime Video In February 2025, Amazon announced that it would not be renewing the soap opera following the conclusion of its two-year deal. “‘Neighbours’ has brought so much joy over the last 40 years to its fanbase globally and in the UK,” said an Amazon spokesperson, confirming the show’s cancellation at the time. “Forty years is an incredible milestone and we are proud that Amazon MGM Studios was able to have a small part of bringing further episodes to Freevee and Prime Video customers over the last two years, spanning over 400 episodes.” Prime Video is currently airing new episodes four times a week until the show’s conclusion in December 2025. In March, the soap celebrated its 40th anniversary with a special week of episodes dedicated to storylines and characters, new and old. Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne Prime Video Longtime cast members Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Ryan Moloney (Jarrod "Toadfish" Rebecchi) and Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) have each appeared in more than 6,000 episodes of the series, with Fletcher and Woodburne appearing in the most overall at nearly 7,000. Fans can continue to watch the series on Prime Video following its conclusion, as full episodes will remain on the service thereafter in addition to the hundreds of episodes available from previous seasons, part of the two series-themed FAST Channels, “Neighbours – Looking Back” and “Best of Neighbours.” In addition to streaming on Prime Video in the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa, Network 10 retained first-run broadcast rights in Australia with ad-free episodes releasing seven days later on Prime Video in Australia. ----- This article first appeared on Soap Opera Network.

“Neighbours” Prime Video In February 2025, Amazon announced that it would not be renewing the soap opera following the conclusion of its two-year deal. Longtime cast members Jackie Woodburne (Susan Kennedy), Alan Fletcher (Karl Kennedy), Ryan Moloney (Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi) and Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson) have each appeared in more than 6,000 episodes of the series, with Fletcher and Woodburne appearing in the most overall at nearly 7,000. Alan Fletcher, Jackie Woodburne Prime Video Fans can continue to watch the series on Prime Video following its conclusion, as full episodes will remain on the service thereafter in addition to the hundreds of episodes available from previous seasons, part of the two series-themed FAST Channels, “Neighbours – Looking Back” and “Best of Neighbours.” In addition to streaming on Prime Video in the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and South Africa, Network 10 retained first-run broadcast rights in Australia with ad-free episodes releasing seven days later on Prime Video in Australia. 13. While her name was not among the nominees for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress when the full list of nominations were announced for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” a category in which she submitted for awards contention, “Days of our Lives” star Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie Williams) took to social media to congratulate all who were nominated, thanked those who’ve shown their support in light of her not being recognized this year, while also recalling her decades long Daytime Emmys experience. “For everyone who was upset by the Emmy nominations, I am amazed and moved that so many cared that deeply about Susan and Julie, her other self,” began Hayes in a lengthy message posted as screenshots from her cell phone’s Notes app on Instagram. “The first Daytime Emmys happened live from the gorgeous plaza of Rockefeller Center in NYC. Bill Hayes sang, we presented, and MacDonald Carey won for ‘best person on daytime’ or some vague category that made us all feel splendid. Eventually, the categories became more specific: Lead Actor, Supporting, Younger, and now Emerging Actor (imagine Meryl Streep rising out of a cake!).” Susan Seaforth Hayes, Bill Hayes Vivian Zink/NBC In January 2024, Hayes lost her husband, the late actor Bill Hayes, who also played her long-time scene partner Doug Williams on the daytime drama series. “Between my nominations, I have had the honor of co-hosting the show once with Beverlee McKinsey and in 2018 receiving a Lifetime Achievement Emmy that sits on our piano next to Billy’s. I have not been snubbed by all the judges of NATAS over time,” shared Hayes in her post. “From 1968-2025 I fit into all the categories, emerging, to supporting, to lead. Susan Lucci was forever a leading lady, Susan?Julie reflected the more natural evolution of nature. She was fresh- then hot- cooled down- and for now, mellow,” Hayes continued. “I have had the chance to stay a working actress for all those thousands of shows. Studying lines, going through the studio gate, being present with the creative cast and crew for one of the longest running dramas on American television. “I feel that’s pretty great, and I’ll be 82 tomorrow. Here is the nugget I’ve been digesting about all of this history. Daytime drama is entertainment. The stories promise romance and beautiful people with intriguing complications. For the audience it’s an hour of happy escape from reality.” Connecting her real-life experience to that of her TV character, Hayes says, “Susan and Julie are facing the reality of growing old. Reality is a deep dive. I was lucky to meet the love of my life in full view of a daytime audience. We caught their imaginations for a long, fulfilling time. Then faded into grandparents, then a dear sweet couple, then we were parted… not by a change of writers, but death itself. Only a widow with memories remains. “Is she ‘entertaining?’ This is not the usual path of a soap opera leading lady. In that story of loss I was more than an actress, I was a wife. My husband deserved all I could give to show the reality of grief and loss. Perhaps the judges felt I wasn’t acting when for the camera, I got the news, kissed the body goodbye, and gave a eulogy. No matter, my truth was based on a love that was real for an audience that loved him, too. My reward in 2024 was that I honored Doug and Julie, members of a family millions have opened their hearts to.” Closing out her post, Hayes noted, “I am hugely blessed and promise you all I will keep on keeping on.” Hayes’ post included a memorable photo of herself holding a golden Emmy statue with the words “1974-75 Emmy Awards” appearing on the wall in the background, referencing “The 27th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” ceremony that aired May 19, 1975, on CBS-TV at 9:00 p.m. https://www.instagram.com/p/DL77hEfvTPW Hayes' message comes one day after it was revealed that she had submitted herself in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress category, which was confirmed by her assistant, Amy Jean Shaughnessy, who is also the daughter of director David Shaughnessy and the niece of "Days of our Lives" actor Charles Shaughnessy (Shane Donovan). https://www.instagram.com/p/DL6BNskyrwf Also commenting on Hayes not getting recognized by the Academy for her work was Cherie Jimenez, who plays Gabi Hernandez on "Days of our Lives." In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she said, "No disrespect to all the incredibly talented women who are nominated, but I find it incredibly hard to believe that our Queen Susan Hayes was not nominated for her incredible performances this past year. With that said Congratulations to all these beautiful women." https://twitter.com/CherieAJimenez/status/1943084640325243147 Note: Programs distributed within the calendar year January 1 to December 31, 2024 were eligible to submit for the 2025 Daytime Emmy competition. 18. I'm truly disgusted with uniformed outlets reporting information as fact, particularly mainstream outlets that generally use interns or general news writers that either use ChatGPT (AI of some kind) or does no actual research when publishing material. TV Insider is INCORRECTLY reporting the Emmys are taking place in October and will air on CBS. Baby, when I tell you CBS said no to the double hell N.O. to airing the Emmys this year, take it to the bank... or don't since no money was being deposited in the network's accounts. Also, why is no one understanding that this year's Emmys is a single ceremony with no separate Creative Arts ceremony? This means like five whole hours of Emmys in one day.

  20. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday announced the full list of nominees for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which is set to take place on Friday, October 17 at a yet to be disclosed venue in Pasadena, California, which will be available to stream exclusively via watch.theemmys.tv and associated apps. This year, the organization will hold a single ceremony, with the daytime community celebrating everyone in front of and behind the camera at the same time. In previous years, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards took place on a separate date, either before or after the televised ceremony. Adam Shap Courtesy of NATAS “We’re excited to recognize the exceptional individuals and teams who make daytime television great every year and in some cases, every day,” said Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS. He added, “As the Daytime landscape continues to expand, we’re excited to introduce new categories to recognize the boundary-pushing work being done, and we’re enthusiastic to convene with and celebrate the whole Daytime community in one ceremony.” Among the daytime dramas, "The Young and the Restless" leads with 19 nominations, followed by "General Hospital" with 16, "Days of our Lives" with 13 and "The Bold and the Beautiful" with four. "The Bay" and "Neighbours" each received just one nomination. The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) / Graphic by SON While there is a default target of five (5) nominees and one (1) winner in most categories, NATAS will be enforcing a longstanding rule where any category that has fewer than ten (10) submissions, no more than 50% of submitted entries may be nominated. This would explain why “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Bay” and “Neighbours” did not receive a nomination across the Daytime Drama, Writing and Directing categories as they had in prior years, more so the former two shows. The enforcement of the rule will “ensure the integrity of NATAS competitions and maintain the reputation of excellence for nominees,” the organization noted in today’s press release announcing the nominations. This year’s ceremony will see the introduction of new categories and the redistribution of former categories, including: Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Program – Eligible performers are on their first Daytime contract with no previous Daytime Emmy acting nominations. They must have been on their Daytime Drama for two years or less, and must be onscreen in a speaking role with at least one multi-episode story arc. There is no age restriction. Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre – This is NOT an Emmy-eligible category, but is instead national recognition for outstanding regional work that will be awarded with a crystal pillar. The parameters for this category are any regional program winner that won at their home contest between the dates of June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025 in the following applicable categories: Lifestyle, Magazine, Entertainment, and Arts/Entertainment Long or Short Form Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series and Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series – former Outstanding Culinary Series category Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program and Outstanding Nature and Science Program – former Outstanding Travel, Nature, and Adventure category After the elimination of the Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category last year, this year, the organization announced the elimination of the Outstanding Original Song category. While CBS has broadcast the ceremony every year since 2020, and 18 times overall, the network will not carry the awards show this year, and it will also not be available to stream via Paramount+. Instead, “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will be available to stream with no television provider required as viewers at home can watch the telecast from their mobile devices, Smart TVs and many other connected devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, Chromecast, iPone, iPad, Android or online via watch.theemmys.tv. 21. Of course, they were wrong. Susan Seaforth Hayes, no matter how much I love and adore her, is not a lead on the show, regardless of how powerful her scenes were during the death of Doug. She should have submitted in supporting, which is where I thought Nancy Lee Grahn would submit herself in a battle between the two. Had Susan put her name in supporting with Nancy in lead, they both would have likely gotten a nomination, and even might win.
