GH Star's Emmy Opinion

I didn't get to see the Younger Actress tapes but the everyone over at Gold Derby who saw them said the Jennifer Landon was the clear winner and that Berman submitted very bad tapes.

On a side note I think making comments like this is going to anger people. I look at as a sore loser and he wasn't even the won that lost.

Arrogance, I tell ya! Actors all have egos -- and when a new actor comes on to an already existing show and cast and presents such arrogance i.e. giving critique about an Emmy winning actress's performance when nobody knew who you were this time last year is not a good move.

But, then again, coming from General Hospital, where Mumbles Benard feels he has the nerve to criticize other actors and judge and rate them, I'm not surprised. When you've played three roles throughout your entire career, shut the hell up!

What's with all the hatred towards J. Duhon & Laura Wright, for that matter? If I didn't know who this actor was, I'd assume Duhon was evil incarnate just by reading these replies. Duhon was simply giving his opinion; he acts with Julie Marie Berman on a day-to-day basis, so he's seen her acting up close & personal. Maybe he did watch Jennifer Landon's 2007 Daytime Emmy reel. Regardless, he was just giving his opinion. What's wrong in giving one's opinion or criticizing a fellow actor, writer, producer or director? People would rather you lie to them than tell the truth/what's on their mind.

So now what makes an actor great or far superior from their peers is based on the type of tape submission they choose to compete with for an award that has no modicum of respect or relevance left!?!?!?!?!? WHAT!?! Is Landon overrated? Hell yes. Do we know that it was Laura Wright's fault that JM Berman lost? Hell no. People need to examine that the Emmys (Primetime & Daytime) have a pattern in their winners. How many times did the overrated Jennifer Finnigan win (one year she "stole" Eden Reigel's award)?

I do not find any part of Duhon's interview to be unprofessional in the least bit. In an age where honest is rare, and people crave authenticity, people like Duhon are raked over the coals & calls for their beheading are shouted from the rooftops.

I just wish that more people would tone down the hate. As Oprah said: Feel the love & accept it. :)

IMO, he expressed his opinion in a professional manner.

Josh Duhon strikes me as somebody he speaks his mind. And as the hot new male on GH, he's allowed to. If he were female? Hmm, not so much.

However, I don't fault him for saying this. He wasn't putting down Landon's real so much as bigging up Berman's acting. The problem people have is that this time last year he wasn't even on the show. It makes him look cocky and like he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I doubt he'll tone down what he says if the soap press keep asking for his opinion. In a way, I'm glad. But he'd better watch his back. JFP and Frons have a habit of filing away these kind of small misdemeanours. And then, when Duhon's star has faded or if the audience fail to respond to one of his SLs or when Guza moves onto the next hot thing (remember what happened with Dillon!), they'll remind him of all the "bad" things he's said to the press and probably use that old stand-by, the Focus Group, which Jill has used as justification for firing Ellen parker, Alice Barrett, Stephen Nichols and Kari Wuhrer.

As for Laura Wright, Julie should have asked Mo or Steve Burton or Tony Geary. Her "acting mentors." They've all won! Heck, she could have asked JFP who used to pick the reels of her nominated stars on multiple-Emmy-winning Santa Barbara.

Everytime I see Berman now, I see (and hear) Laura Wright. I'm not a fan of LW so this can be REALLY grating!

I mean, JMB is obviously a great mimic -- she's got Laura Wright's rasp and Carly's bossy mannerisms down perfectly! But is imitating the third recast of the original Carly the same is acting? Right now, I feel that Josh Duhon is the stronger performer in their scenes. She tries to out-talk and out-act him but he has an ability to dominate the scene nonetheless. I actually think he's quite a good actor. Either that, or he's playing himself (Texan boy and self-styled "man's man" that he says he is, ROTFL). JMO, of course.

Josh Duhon is a talented thespian, and I see a lot of potential in him. I'd love to write for him one day. Maybe I can colloborate with Michele Val Jean or Tracey Thomson. Now that would be a rockin' script.

Uh oh, here come the haters.

INT. LOGAN'S APARTMENT- NIGHT

Maxie: I hate you.

Logan pulls out a knife from a drawer in his kitchen and offers it to Maxie

Logan (offering the knife): Don't waste any more of my time.

Maxie (puzzled looked on her face): I always knew you were a jerk. Now I know you're a psycho and a bastard, too.

Logan: I do not care what you know about me , or what you think you may know. Just kill yourself and get it over with. There's no time like the present.

Maxie: Hate to sound like a broken record, but I have to say this again. This time more slowly for you to understand: I. Hate. You.

Logan: You're too wrapped up with revenge and your slutty ways to realize that hate is another form of suicide.

Maxie: Oh, please! Don't act all philosophical on me. Last time I checked, your name was Logan Hayes, B.S., not Logan Hayes, Ph.D. And in case you couldn't wrap your little brain about it, the B.S. stands for Bastard Son.

Logan drops the knife and goes to open his front door. Maxie follows.

Logan: The more you hate me, the closer to death you are.

Maxie: Save your so-called words of wisdom for internet message boards. There's always someone who cares way more than I ever will about you.

Maxie leaves just as Logan slams his front door.

EXT. KELLY'S- OUTSIDE- NIGHT

Georgie is cleaning the tables outside of Kelly's as Maxie arrives, walking quickly.

Georgie: Whoa. Slow down, Maxie.

Maxie: I've got places to be, people to see. You know, it's called living life. Why don't you try it sometime. As they say: You've only got one life to live.

Georgie (places the cloth on the table): I can see that you're upset. Mind telling me about it? Does it have something to do with Logan?

Maxie (screams): Gosh! Does everything in this freakin' town have to be about Logan Hayes!?

Georgie (surprised): Maxie, you need to calm down. Just sit down and I'll bring you a glass of water.

Maxie: What I need is a time traveling machine so I can go back to February. That's when I never knew Logan Hayes ever existed. He was acting all philosophical and insightful- it's a front, of course- and saying things like hate and that I was killing myself. I'm not like Lulu. I don't resort to killing things like she killed her baby last summer. And the last time I checked, Logan was working for Sonny. He's definately no saint, and I'd love to knock him off his high horse. I mean, where the hell does he get off on analyzing me? He's a lot of things but he sure ain't Mr. Young and Wise.

Georgie: I just wish you would do that on your own for yourself. You need to understand who YOU are and why you do the things you do. At times you are irrational, assertive to the point of embarassing yourself, and you blame others for your actions.

Maxie: I heard the Port Charles University is looking for professors. Maybe you can assist Logan in his Life 101 class, and give everyone a failing grade. We already know that you and him are the only geniuses in life matters.

Georgie: It's times like these that I wish mom were still in Port Charles. When's the last time you had a meaningful conversation with Robin? Or how about Mac or uncle Robert? Heck, even me.

Maxie (pulls out a mirror and lip gloss out of her purse to use): If I ever needed a shrink, I'll look one up in the phone book. Besides, telephone operators will forever be employed.

Gerogie: What you need is people who care about you. People who love you enough to see that your life is spinning out of control and are willing to help. I would be an awful sister if I sat back and watched you crash and burn. Maternal influence and guidance is lacking in our lives, Maxie, but that is no reason or excuse to ruin your life.

Maxie (puts the lip gloss back into her purse): This has nothing to do with mom.

Georgie (holds up Maxie's mirror to her sister's face): It has eveything to do with mom.

Stayed tuned for scenes from the next episode on General Hospital

im sorry, but i dont see the reason for the big issue with what he said. he didnt bash JL. not at all. He said that he felt JMB was better.

and i agree with him. JMB did deserve that emmy, and yes over JL. I love JL, shes one of the main reasons i tune into ATWT. she is amazing at what she does and did deserve it the year before, but not this year.

it was a tacky thing he said, but then again, there is a lot of this in the thread

Yes, that is what makes them an Emmy winner. Bitch and moan about how it happens, but it's the breaks and you've got to be able to play in those rules. And for those who know something about the Emmys would see that Eden did the exact thing Julie did, and that's why she lost the year she did. And Jennifer had about 5 amazing shows, and submitted them. Fair--no, but it's about playing in the guidelines and making it work...

and JD just sounds like an arse in that interview
