To be fair to Y&R last year at this time was the beginning of Pratastrophe and that produced some unreal numbers. DAYS will continue to sink hard until the writing and production changes NBC demanded start to take effect. I tried to get through two episodes (Feb 16/17) on Pop, but it quickly turned to background noise. DAYS is a show I always want to do well. It's really amazing how many DAYS fans WILL come back when the stories are good - this has been proven several times during the past few years. Despite all the horrible eras, the audience is lurking and waiting. I'm glad it was renewed and hope that a more normal soap production schedule will help.

It's so weird how across the board every show drops in viewership all week long and it's become the norm.  Ratings used to build to a high on Fridays and now it's typical for Friday to be the ratings low for every show.  Gone are the days of cliffhanger Fridays mattering.    And isn't this a sweeps?  Every show down year over year by pretty big numbers.

Which showrunner was it that said he/she wanted to dispose of the Friday cliffhanger?  I think it may have been Maria Arena Bell.  Well, this is the law of unintended consequences.  Diminishing the Friday cliffhanger and treating all days as equal but instead of raising the quality, the quality is decreased.

You're right, there's no build so there's no growing sense of significance or urgency.  Personally, I drop in to read spoilers and watch an occasional scene or two for Y&R and/or B&B but it all looks the same to me.  The storylines seem terribly recycled.

I really don't know what sweeps means these days or what constitutes a proper sweeps storyline.
