Hallmarks of what I hate about Valentini. If it’s not at his direction, then he should look at the show he produces and put a stop to it. Currently the stories always feature and revolve around TPTB favorites. As you said, Michael is in a story that doesn’t feature him. He’s not in a coma or missing, they just don’t care about using him for whatever reason. And it’s not recent, it’s not just because he got married IRL. They effectively dropped him after Drew got injected and that story stalled for months.
Jordan has also been in story for over a year and it has all been inconsequential. Her part in the Sidwell story was barely shown, and she was not even remotely involved in the climax. Her face was scarred and they barely mentioned it for months, and the major consequences of that story also happened to Curtis and BLQ. She is on contract and established, so that’s a step up for Michael from Jacinda and Serena. But not leading man story, which he can pull off and the audience seems to pretty much agree he was a fantastic recast.
Serena was miscast for advancing beyond C level stories. It’s kind of like Lucky’s return. They brought them back, but they don’t care about it and it’s very clear onscreen. Even teasing her with Jason is another sign of just how badly this team gets him as a character. The only time Jason bickering was fun to watch was because Vanessa could do it as Brenda, and they had history. Vanessa could swing wildly in a set of scenes and make it work as Brenda, so the fighting would switch to deep vulnerability and they both could sell it.
Britt being attached to the new big bad, they obviously want her to be miss big deal and it’s just not working. And again, I liked Britt when she got killed off. This return has been botched from almost day 1.
Well, at least someone is happy watching the show. I think Heather’s return is another example of tptb misreading what is wrong with the show and making the wrong decisions as to who most people want to see. They don’t want to tell romances, they don’t want to tell family stories, they don’t want to tell medical stories, or mob stories. But they do want to keep bringing back wacky.
