Everytime I pop in this thread I look for a glimmer of hope but there is none.

How I feel about reading synopsis for the day so I feel that.

HUGS

As many have said in this thread and elsewhere, the biggest problem today with THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS is that there's not enough characters on the show who are young and the only ones who are restless are the audience.

THIS.

At some point Y&R just decided no one cares about younger characters and that the 30-40 year vets should ALWAYS be front burner.

Well Josh Griffith did. And I don't know why since he is the one responsible for Noah's return (with Rory Gibson in the role) and mini-arcs for Faith and Summer/Kyle/Lola/Theo? And before this writing stint, did he not write young character stories?

It's like he literally just got allergic to writing for them.

It's the same with introducing new families and POC. At a time when Y&R needed both desperately, Mal Young introduced the Rosaleses. But he set them up for failure immediately by not introducing them in a more gradual fashion. Subsequently, it seems as if TPTB have become skittish about introducing anyone new that isn't tied to the Abbotts and/or Newmans.

The Rosales family really could have had substantial legs, but yes, their introduction was at rapid speed. By the time Mia came in, that should have been when Rey was introduced. They speed-ran the introductions of Lola and Rey.

Yeah. I was happy with Arturo and his storyline since it gave Nikki something to do (in more ways than one hehe) that was kinda different for her. I didn't even mind Arturo and Abby from what I remember of them. But the whole family should have been more gradual for sure.

Well...there was Theo...Allie...

Ah, yes. Theo Vanderway. One of the porniest-sounding names in Bill Bell Universe history.

Normally, I don't support ignoring history. If it happened on-screen, I believe, then it happened. In Theo's case, however, I'm willing to ignore the gymnastics that Josh Griffith performed to tie him to the Brookses AND to the Abbotts.

Mal Young yes but the Rosales family was also promoted by Angelica McDaniel who was head of CBS Daytime at that time.

Oh, that's right! I totally forgot about the part she played in their introduction as well. And I could understand why she was so eager to get them on the show, too, but she really didn't understand how this stuff (introducing new characters/families onto an established show) actually works.

Thanks for the reminder, @janea4old !
