I don't think they ever cared about redeeming Marco. He was meant to be a way to stretch the Sidwell story out, make us feel sorry for Sidwell, and reunite Brad/Lucas. After which they will probably go to the backburner or disappear entirely.
It's very lazy as well as offputting because they didn't even have the guts to make him a gay villain who would live and die by his crimes in a flashy way. Instead, he did his father's bidding and was shot and left dying on the ground for others to find.
Once again if you aren't a very limited type of gay man, you have no chance on this show.
I don't know if Stevens is even still in the industry, but even if he is, I will be shocked if this show ever has a bisexual man. Or any American soap, frankly.
