As for today's show, the tension between Willow and Michael is crackling. They're finally interesting after a much-needed recast. I wouldn't mind an Alan and Monica reunion of sorts between the two. They should plot to kill Drew once and for all.

I really like this idea.

So boring and forgetful nobody can seem to get his name right. I see him called Dax all over the internet, instead of Dex.

Star Trek's Dax would think him unworthy of the name.

A lot of viewers (male and female) enjoy watching gay men fúcking, and HR has certainly leaned into allowing them that pleasure. But that show is about romance, in addition to being refreshingly explicit about sex and sexual roles. It's not vapid fetish material. It just doesn't shy away from or apologize for sex and intense intimacy being a part of its hook and its appeal. It's the story, the characters and the execution that keep people there.

Exactly. Anyone who defines Heated Rivalry by calling it gay fetish material missed the point of all of it.

Every bit of the sex and horniness is essential, leading to a romance for the ages.

The actors used to regularly call him Dax! I ain't forgot, Finola!

There we are. 😄

Perhaps make Josslyn bisexual and pair her up with another woman. Kristina? Would be a bit wild but would certainly be interesting.

I’ve been saying! This is the only way.

Eden reads butch and always has. Most of her male partners are soft by comparison. It's a good idea, unless you recast (which I would eventually, while making Joss a comic scheming socialite).

But Joss and Kristina as lesbian hatesex would be hot. Eastenders would've done it already. Even Days might have.

Part of me would bring back Lexi A and start the pairing then.

It'd be the type of epic story that would have ramifications and so many incredible reactions and adjustments for a lot of characters - Sonny, Carly, Alexis, Michael!!!!, Molly, Ric, Jaks (if he ever returns), Laura, Lulu, Jason, Dante, etc.

I might write up a story idea about it further and post it on the AI thread and see what people think.

That is how many see the show, whatever other goals the show has. Romance is lovely, but the shows or films that mostly just focus on a more low-key romance element for gay men without the rest never get the same response. They tend to get a very nasty response.

EE tends to treat lesbianism in the same dreary and tortured way they treat romance between gay men - most of the time you will get a kiss or two if you are lucky.

To be honest modern EE actually feels less progressive than GH sexually, crazy as that sounds.

Kristina and Joss both seem like such stilted characters, anything might help them.

If not for the Gio pairing I would have said pair Joss with Emma, but no way the show would ever go there with two women viewers watched grow up onscreen (albeit with different actors).

How do you know how many or most see the show if you haven't watched it? Simply googling it or rummaging around through the best or worst of X, IG or Bluesky is not going to get you there. No one's social algorithm is a pure instrument, so that's not the answer. I'm sorry, but I don't think the rave reviews of the show are simply for pure fetish material. And I think if you want to reduce it (or anything else) to that then you should watch it first.

Letting social media noise and a skewed sampling of something's audience get in the way of actually engaging with a piece of art or media is a self-fulfilling prophecy in our day and age, but we can still make the choice to view it devoid of that from our own perspective. I think it's the least we can do for ourselves. And that's all I have left to say about that.

I've seen some of the show, but otherwise, I can go by fan comments to see how they interpret the show, or articles about the show. I never said all fans see it one way. I specified some people in my posts. I think the idea that a lot of people, even people who love the show, don't see it that way is not likely. Saying a number of people watch the show because they want to see men having (simulated) sex does not damn the show or the people who make it and I don't feel bad for my opinion. And that's all I have left to say about that.

Even though the Sprina fandom was vocal at times, the racism and the writers' refusal to commit were always hard to overcome.

This was always the problem. We have seen Joss mourn two partners, and have relationships with two more men. When Dex died they gave her an entire new story about the WSB and we barely saw Trina grieve. Then they give her the C story with Kai, who is now recurring. Her mother has had more to do. It’s very noticeable, and has been for years.

And this Vaughn guy is not gonna change things at all.

I mean, the idea of Joss/Kristina at least gives Joss a purpose. A long term plan to kill Sonny if her heart is truly set on it. And I like the idea of planting the seed for the inevitable day that Maurice Bernard steps down and Sonny finally exits the show, when or how that will be.
