Beyond the Gates, The Bold and the Beautiful

During the week of October 13-17, 2025, CBS’ “Beyond the Gates” continued to see week-to-week gains among Total Viewers for the fourth consecutive week, while also attracting its largest overall audience since the week of March 17-21, 2025, and its fourth-best performance among Total Viewers since its February 2025 launch.

With 1.637 million viewers tuning in, the daytime drama series was up +42,000 viewers week-to-week and up an impressive +456,000 compared to the performance by former time slot occupant “The Talk” during the same week last year. Demographically, “Beyond the Gates” was up +0.03 week-to-week among Women 18-49 (0.17 rating vs. 0.14 rating), and up +0.01 week-to-week among Women 25-54 (0.25 rating vs. 0.24 rating). Further, the soap opera outperformed the year ago results for “The Talk” in both demographics.

Now in its 17th season, “Let’s Make a Deal” is also doing well for CBS, with the second half-hour setting a season high among Total Viewers. With 2.414 million tuning in, the game show’s second half-hour attracted its largest overall audience since the week of March 3-7, 2025. Meanwhile, the first half-hour (2.065 million) attracted its second-largest audience since the week of March 3-7, 2025, second only to its performance during the week of October 6-10, 2025.

For the fourth time in five weeks (including ties), “The Bold and the Beautiful” was the top scripted drama across daytime broadcast among Women 18-49 (0.23 rating), ahead of perennial leader “The Young and the Restless” (0.21 rating). For the week, the half-hour daytime drama tied with ABC’s “The View” among Women 18-49, each with a 0.23 rating, with the former up +0.03 week to week and the latter up +0.04 week to week. “The Bold and the Beautiful” was also up +0.04 among Women 25-54 (0.35 rating vs. 0.31 rating) and +71,000 among Total Viewers (2.663 million vs. 2.592 million). Overall, the soap attracted its largest overall audience since the week of March 31-April 4, 2025.

“The Young and the Restless” remained the top soap among Women 25-54 (0.39 rating), ranking third overall, and up +0.02 week-to-week (0.39 rating vs. 0.37 rating). The show averaged 2.922 million viewers, up 80,000 week to week and marking its best performance among Total Viewers since the week of August 18-22, 2025.

Elsewhere, “The Price is Right” continues to lead daytime broadcast, this time attracting its largest audience of the season for both half hours, with the second half-hour leading the charts with 4.180 million viewers and the first half-hour in second with 3.644 million. Both numbers are the game show’s best since the week of April 7-11, 2025. While “General Hospital” continues to perform decently among Total Viewers, on par with its regular averages, the soap opera’s performance in the key sales demographics is a bit concerning.

Wrap-Up

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of October 13-17, 2025 among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including week-to-week and year-over-year comparisons.

Note*: Figures under the 2024 column for “Beyond the Gates” are compared to the performance of the former time slot occupant, “The Talk.” “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” is compared with the performance of its predecessor, “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna.” Meanwhile, “GMA3” is compared with its predecessor, “GMA3: What You Need to Know.”

Starting with the 2025-2026 television season, Nielsen formally introduced an adjusted tracking method called Big Data + Panel, which the measurement service notes will “bring human insights to the numbers in big data sets.” In addition to the 101,000 real people from the 42,000 households already tracked by Nielsen (the Panel), the new tracking method encompasses approximately 45 million Big Data households and 75 million devices from Comcast, Dish, DIRECTV, Roku and Vizio. As a result, the 2024 column is based on Nielsen Panel-only data.

Comparisons under the 2024 column, particularly Households and Total Viewers, were unavailable to this publication for most daytime broadcast shows, unlessed stated otherwise, until at least February 2025.

I couldn't agree more. I am so happy for BTG and B&B. You've made my weekend Errol 😊😊😊

I don't want to rain on any parades but CBS can't thrilled with BTG only up 0.01 in both demos over The Talk's year ago numbers despite Bold being relatively stable. The demo retention out of B&B has fallen by around 10% since it returned from its second week of repeats in September. It's overall audience has grown the past few weeks but it's getting older, at least on linear.

It's outperforming General hospital in important demos and it's only 8 months old baby of a show vs a giant. That baby just had it's biggest audience since it's second month on air. Cbs will be happy... trust me.

Respectfully disagree, but I think CBS is likely at fault. I'm on record defending the show's ratings up though the summer but there's no denying the show has had a rough fall demo-wise. It used to easily improve the demos year over year and now it's struggling to keep pace and has fallen behind The Talk twice in W18-49.

Since its first week of reruns it never improved its demos unless Bold did the same. Now a month after its second rerun week, its overall demos & retention has dropped. Stopping repeat weeks will help the show more than any amount of promotion.

Errol, first of all, thanks for the information. I do have a question about your GH comment.

If GH's ratings in the key demos is "a bit concerning," how are the demos of BTG not concerning? We're praising the BTG ratings increases and toasting champagne, but GH is worrisome? Their ratings are basically on par with Gates, and the show is gangbusters on streaming. I just don't think GH is in any kind of trouble.

The show that should be furrowing its brow is Y&R, which has completely given up its lead in both key demo categories in the past few years.

You can paint a picture of BTG being in some kind of demo trouble, but just saying it doesn't make it true.

CBS soaps "used to easily improve the demos year over year"? Uh...how many years are you going back for that to be true? Because soap ratings -- like ALL of linear TV -- have been falling dramatically for YEARS. Considering all that's happened, the soaps are doing just fine. BTG is not in trouble.

BTW, the demos for "The Talk" -- at least for this cited week -- were just a tad behind BTG, but it was still drawing 450,000 fewer viewers. That is A LOT.

I understand why key demos matter, but I also know that a difference of 450k viewers matters, too.

Outside of overall rankings across the key categories, the individual shows are competing with their own past success and failures when it comes to their ratings outlook.

While General Hospital continues to outperform Beyond the Gates among Total Viewers, the ABC soap's drop in the key demos compared to the same week last year and compared to the weeks prior to the baseball preemptions is what I was referring to when I said its performance during the week of October 13-17, 2025 is a bit concerning. Though, upon review, all shows' demos are concerning, especially The Price is Right, which had the most significant year-over-year drop in demos of any show. Further, GH's performance is relatively on par with its performance during the week of September 22-26, 2025, the week before the preemptions. So, it's stable in that case.

That said, my "concerning" comment did not mean I was worried about the show's future. I do not doubt GH will continue to air for years to come. However, it would be better for the show to be ranked 8th or 9th rather than 11th.

I didn't make anything up out of thin air. I correctly pointed out that BTG's demos (both overall and retention of its lead-in) these past 4 weeks since its second week of preemptions have been worse than it performed previously.

I never said that CBS soaps always improved its year-ago time period performance, I pointed out that BTG did until the fall. That was a misquote on your part. Before the Labor Day week repeat break BTG was performing well above The Talk in demos year-over-year. Now it is not. Yes, I know that broadcast is falling overall, that's why I pointed out that B&B - its lead-in - was relatively stable year-over-year this week in those demos in making the comparison.

If you think I'm wrong and the show had a worse 4 week demo span, please present your evidence and I'll be happy to correct my post.

In other words:

BTG is performing much better than The Talk overall. A few weeks here and there does not diminish what BTG has accomplished in it's 8 months on air.

As far as the ratings go we're only privy to live plus same day ratings. I'm inclined to believe the L+3 and L+7 for BTG are much better than those of The Talk's. Also, I get the impression BTG is doing pretty well on Paramount+. In the grand scheme of things BTG with it's partnerships with P&G and NAACP makes it a better bet in the long run.

Thank you for saying this. It's unfortunate they aren't more forthcoming to prevent this speculation but we know they don't just focus on live ratings. Every now and then they give us insight on the true ratings in a press release. Hopefully we'll get one of those soon so we can have a better idea of how the show is really doing but I too think CBS is pleased.
