The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) on Thursday announced the full list of nominees for “The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” which are set to take place on Friday, October 17 during a ceremony that will be streamed live from Pasadena, CA. However, a specific venue had not been disclosed at press time.

This year, the Daytime Emmy Awards will take place as a single ceremony, executive produced by Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, and Lisa Armstrong, with Rachel Schwartz serving as Head of the Daytime Emmy Awards. The firm of Lutz & Carr, LLP, provides accounting services for this year’s competition.

Among the television networks and streamers, Netflix leads with 32 nominations, followed by ABC and CBS in a tie for second place, each with 25 nominations. Peacock received 14 nominations to rank fourth, while CBS Media Ventures was honored with 12 nominations to close out the top five.

“The Young and the Restless” garnered the most nominations overall among individual programs, receiving 19, followed by “General Hospital” in second with 16 and “Days of our Lives” in third with 13. “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “The Drew Barrymore Show” each amassed nine nominations to tie for fourth, followed by “Living with Leopards” with five nominations. There’s a three-way tie for sixth place among “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The View” and “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” each receiving four nominations.

“We’re excited to recognize the exceptional individuals and teams who make daytime television great every year and in some cases, every day,” said Sharp in a statement. He added, “As the Daytime landscape continues to expand, we’re excited to introduce new categories to recognize the boundary-pushing work being done, and we’re enthusiastic to convene with and celebrate the whole Daytime community in one ceremony.”

During their Wednesday, July 9 broadcasts, entertainment new shows “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood,” “Extra” and “E! News” provided an early preview of the nominees in the first eight categories, including Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor and Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress.

“The 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” will be available to stream with no television provider required as viewers at home can watch the telecast from their mobile devices, Smart TVs and many other connected devices such as Apple TV, Roku, Android TV, Fire TV, Chromecast, iPone, iPad, Android or online via watch.theemmys.tv. The website houses all past live Emmy events, past events, winner interviews, behind-the-scenes features, and more.

Daytime Emmys News & Notes About Nominations

The default nominee target for each category is five (5) nominees and one (1) winner. However, there are some categories (notably, Daytime Drama Program and Daytime Personality – Daily) where the number of nominees is fewer. According to National Awards Committee guidelines, in any category where there are fewer than ten (10) submissions, no more than 50% of submitted entries may be nominated. This is a longstanding rule that the National Awards Committee is enforcing across all competitions to ensure the integrity of NATAS competitions and maintain the reputation of excellence for nominees.

This year’s ceremony will see the introduction of new categories and the redistribution of former categories, including:

  • Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Program – Eligible performers are on their first Daytime contract with no previous Daytime Emmy acting nominations. They must have been on their Daytime Drama for two years or less, and must be onscreen in a speaking role with at least one multi-episode story arc. There is no age restriction.
  • Outstanding Regional Content in a Daytime Genre – This is NOT an Emmy-eligible category, but is instead national recognition for outstanding regional work that will be awarded with a crystal pillar. The parameters for this category are any regional program winner that won at their home contest between the dates of June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025 in the following applicable categories: Lifestyle, Magazine, Entertainment, and Arts/Entertainment Long or Short Form
  • Outstanding Culinary Instructional Series and Outstanding Culinary Cultural Series – former Outstanding Culinary Series category
  • Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program and Outstanding Nature and Science Program – former Outstanding Travel, Nature, and Adventure category

Entries in all NATAS-run competitions are reviewed by anonymous, qualified peers in the category being judged. All entries are reviewed (watched) in a secure, online entry system and scored on a 7-point scale. NATAS has a series of checks and balances built into its judging process that are designed specifically to ensure the judging is carried out with as much integrity as possible. These checks and balances include, but are not limited to:

  • Anyone affiliated with a program entered into Category 1 (Daytime Drama Series) is not permitted to judge that category.
  • Ballots are randomized per judge to remove subconscious biases such as recency bias.
  • Ballots do not list names of individual entrants (except in performance categories where on-screen talent is being judged) to remove biases towards friends and more well-known names.
  • Any scores outside a specific metric are automatically flagged for discussion with the National Awards Committee.
  • Judges are not allowed to score their own work.
  • At no point in the determination of nominees and winners is NATAS  administration or the Awards Committee members provided with details pertaining to what category or title specific scores correlate to.
